Hey Shannon, he looked pretty good for the role that he had, received quite a lot of kick ins which explains the 9 marks, performed quite reliably, pulled off most things he was trying to do, only one clanger which I must've missed but all in all looked pretty competent. Had his hands on his hips a bit late in the 3rd and last quarters. I think he'll keep his spot, he showed he's not a spectacular or intercepting defender, but a strong and reliable one.

Hypothetically or theoretically it might be that someone like Callaghan could be in the frame if you'd moved Stewart to a Daicos or the like this week. Otherwise going the other way there's a few that could be in the frame if you didn't have them (Sheezel, Ginbey, even Phillips). (but there's not really anyone at the 102/117 price point)
Give Hopper another week v crows & see how JHF goes v pies - lions midfield just disappeared after 1/2 time, think he will have a much sterner test this weekend so can make a proper assessment on him.
Who is Reddy?
Comben went into the ruck when Xerri went down, got 12 hitouts which was a big help for his scoring. I expect Goldy comes in for Xerri so don't expect Comben to get much ruck time. He scored -3 in his last preseason game, I wouldn't go early on him.
These trades seem really reactionary, can't see how they really improve your team tbh

If you're projecting him as a 110ave player he's on his way down to sub 550k and you'd be mad to pick him up before he bottomed out properly. I imagine most people who started him or are considering targeting him early have him down as a 125+ player. If he averages that from here he'll drop 50k quickly but then even out. 50k discount at this time of year is not worth bending your team for.
Don't understand trading out Laird this week. He was always going to drop in price, and his score only counts for one price drop. There won't be many coaches who can grab him in round 4 without making serious sacrifices. Surely people bought him for his consistency? Give him the chance to bounce back

I've finally caught up on this thread after being in the fetal position for the best part of 48 hours, so I wanted to touch on some of the Daicos tag chat. (Just another supporter opinion, don't have any inside info).
A couple of things make me bullish on Daicos when it comes to tags:
1) One key thing I've noticed watching the Pies live compared to watching on TV is the sheer amount of gut running Daicos does. This checks out - he is frequently in the top 5 on the GPS tracker during games, and was top of Pies time trial this pre-season. He is an endurance beast, and when you see him on the TV it's easy to come to the conclusion he is receiving a cheap touch, when the reality is he's more often than not busted a gut to get that cheap touch. This isn't to say he is untaggable, but the number of players in the league that could match that output to make the tag effective is perhaps lower than most are suggesting. In theory this means the number of times this season he is kept to a 70ish is lowered.
2) Perhaps starting to get into some Marbo territory here, but as far as his character goes he comes across as someone who is conscious of the fact that talent alone won't be enough to have a successful AFL career and he needs to work on his craft constantly (maybe helps having a high performance dad). We often talk about season-to-season improvement for younger players, but in Pendles and Titch he has two excellent mentors who will be feeding him advice on how to deal with and break tags, and I think as long as Daicos takes that opportunity to learn the capacity for him to improve as the season goes on is quite high.
I'm sure I write the above with a good whack of rose tint in my glasses but take it as you will.

It's the main skill of the game, knowing when to jump on and off, and recognising the difference between a minor slump and a player who has gone over the cliff, or the difference between a purple patch and a breakout.
Restructuring to turn two did midpricers into a premo and a missed rookie is often a good move. Wouldn't talk anyone out of it.

I agree with all you say, but a counter argument.
Most taggers are low skilled with massive endurance as their one wood, Ed Curnow types who can and will keep up with Daicos.
Daicos is a receiver which are much easier to sit on and stop then a contested ball winner.
Probably plays out a few tags 70 and a few 130 games, with a little natural improvement and knowledge to work through a tag can see him in that 100-105 area which is a win, but also think with a few 70 in there never going to be at an unreachable price and a normal upgrade if needed.

Bad rounds are part of SC. I don't think many of your starting decisions has been particularly flawed, you just copped the bad luck. You could even hold Jones if he gets up and just pocket some cash from the Stewart trade (and then choosing the player you like rather than forcing him right down to maximise cash availability). Then after another week of data you will know where to spend that $$ more effectively.
I wouldn't be changing the rucks or any of your premos. You don't have too much MPM going on. So really you're just having to accept that 150-200 points are gone due to unfortunate injuries, and another 100 due to on field rookie roulette, and 100 more to captaincy carnage. That's 400 points of bad luck right there.
You just need to set yourself up for next week. If that means moving an extra 2 this week that's OK, but I don't think it's as bad as you might feel right now
