Looking at:
Jelly to Gulden
Hopper to Naicos

Fixes my structure up and gets me to a solid 13 premos.
Will look at any rookie corrections needed next week

Why are you trading Hopper?

Surely deserves another week v crows midfield? Very different proposition than last week v the blues big bodied mids.

On Laird, the guy has been a gun for a few years - first shocker in a very long time, I fully expect him to bounce back this week so he is a hold.
I'm finding it hard to control the panic trade tendancies lol. Can't afford an abysmal round 2, and I think about how 36 trades divided by 23 rounds allows for 1.5 trades a round. It feels like a waste going into round 2 without a worthy correction.

I know a lot of you are keeping your cool and waiting on another week before grabbing JHF. His career average against Collingwood is 68 vs Hopper's career average against Adelaide of 81. Hmm..

Panicking on Laird is me considering what I could do with the $703k now. His BE is 206. Losing money is a near certainty, especially after 50 points Rd1...

Perhaps I just drink some scotch, gather myself, relax and correct Clark instead. 😂

That laughing face emoji at the end hurt me more than you will ever know 😥
He didn't just look old and slow to me, he looked like he was lacking confidence. I'm just ripping the band aid off now and moving forward.

Laird will be ok, it was the heat that affected him, he's entitled to a bad game every now and then, especially with that kind of oppressive heat.

I couldn't really care less about last week's points.

Cunnington's role was ordinary & he hardly got near the ball even when in the middle. Bruhn's TOG% is a concern as is Hopper's. Hopper looks like he has no tank.

The cost of 2x trades to bring in Gulden & JHF is worth it if they look like being forward keepers.
Cunnington's role was good until the Xerri injury, he went to FF to replace Comben who was rucking and Phillips only really having the one real position took his spot in the midfield for the most part.

I didn't love the pick from the start but I'd be giving it another week unless you've got 3 trades already booked in for next week and need to free up a slot.

The only player due back at the dees in Chandlers' position is Viney who is the dees best tackler so it is really Harmes vs Chandler
Fritsch also and more directly his spot.

I'd think it's Harmes, Chandler and Sparrow that are the 20-22 in the team (after replacing McVee, Laurie and Tomlinson with Salem, Viney and May) and Fritsch comes in for one of those 3. Spargo probably next but he's got a lot of runs on the board.

Pickett out buys 2 weeks for those guys though so that helps also.

Ahhhh what a horrible round 1. That was probably the worst score in round 1 I've ever had...and that's despite no players in my team being actually injured (assuming Jones plays this weekend)!

The gutting thing is I got all of the below choices wrong which I was weighing up!
Picked Cumming over N.Daicos
Picked L.Hunter over JHF
When McLean wasn't selected, I replaced him with Phillipou instead of Sheezel (slightly unfair as Phillipou did pretty well haha!)

Fyfe and Jones were always in my team and on the field, so I was going to take a big L for that anyways.

So with all this being said, it's super tempting to start trading straight away. However, I'm leaning towards waiting another week before making any trades to gather more info instead of overreacting completely.

While I know I will need to make corrective trades, I'm unsure of how many. If it's 4 or more before the prices start changing, then I'll need to consider trading this week.

Season 2K23 already throwing them spanners into the best laid plans! Who would've thought!?

It's a weird time to have a team with no obvious problems. A lot of coaches have very obvious moves to make, whereas I'm trying to prioritise the players I want and those who could possibly be traded out.

I want to close out a negative POD in Daicos, but unless Laird sh1ts the bed again or I cop an injury to a premo, I'll have no avenue to him.

JHF presents great value if he can become an F6 keeper. Need to see the effect Boak has on his role first.

I'm thinking Will Phillips and Callaghan (in that order) will likely be my priority trade-ins for Chesser and Hopper/Jones.

It's all dominoes. I need to see a lot of bad signs from my players to justify parting with them, just as much as I need to see good signs from the players I want to trade in.

I sort of hope Daicos gets tagged to a lower score this week so I can shift focus wholly to where it should be at this point in the season - on rookie/midprice corrections.

No trades for me this week, but countless possibilities for 2 - 3 trades next week.

I'm in the same boat as you. No injuries, but missed Pedlar, Cole and Pou. And have no Daicos. Laird C hurt.

Goldstein back in could help Cunnington immensely. Who knows? What I do know is that he looked well off the pace against a fairly ordinary West Coast midfield when he was in there. I'm moving him & Bruhn on.

With next week being rookie correction week I'll obviously need a few trades for that, but I'm probably pretty safe in grabbing Sheezel now. Might also go early on Phillips too & have another look at McKenna this week.

What was the temp?
Really ****ing awful. I got sunburnt walking from the carpark to the stadium and back.

Looked up BOM because I was curious - 35.4 in the shade. Probably 40+ in the sun in the middle of a cauldron stadium. No breeze to speak of through the field either compared to outside the grandstand (we definitely noticed it as hot but less oppressive when we ducked out to get my daughter a new guernsey - wish she'd bloody stop growing, it's expensive).

I have Pou but missed Pedlar and Cole. I don't think I'll fit Pedlar in, running Gulden and Sheezel at F5 and F6. If he lights it up this weekend I'll have food for thought. I don't love Cole, think he's still a 50 average.

Daicos is the interesting one. Currently in ~40% of teams including this week's trades. Port have said they will try to stop him... I imagine this weekend should tell us if he is a must-have or just a target for later on.

That just strengthens the case for a quick flip out / premo juggle and then bring him back in with the first batch of mooing cash cows come round 5 or 6, doesn't it?

I could turn Fyfe and Laird into (for example) Cogs and LDU. Not saying that's the way I'd go necessarily, but it's worth considering at least.
Thats with a 120 Avg.

If its only 110 avg for the next 5 rounds 606K

Any other coaches thinkiing of the flip to LDU. I think i need to watch the North game again.

Im thnking 6 trades first 2 rounds and then sit for 3 weeks, then another 4 over round 6 & 7 Leaving 26 trades.

Soooo many trades, an early flip can be done. Its season over if laird looses 100K.

Or just sit one more week and cross the fingers 130+ from Laird.? Another afternoon game, i cannot see it happening.?

Laird for me is one more game. If its not a 120+ hes likely gonna plummet cash and better to flip and comes back to him around 600k mark

Lots of trades and it's a money game, so fairly easy to go down this path now

Trades -
Will hold Jelly and but Jones is out, 5 kills the cash gen and might not be even up for this week. Not why i picked him.

So Jones - Sheezel (unless cowan pulls out a 100 then ill just loop jones this week, lol)
and then check how everyone else goes this week

Jones & Bruhn H. Clark out
JHF & McKenna in

I hate doing a double corrective so early but after putting the C on Laird I'm already in a full nuffy tailspin. It's either this or my wife finding me locked in the bathroom rocking on the floor repeating "there's always next year, there's always next year"... again.
