This is what I currently have.

It includes 5 players from tonight’s teams, when I’d rather have 2-4. I haven’t completed my research yet, so don’t want to go too heavy or too light on these teams.

Open to any feedback or suggestions!

Just a quick reminder of all the changes between this format and BBL:

BATTING: basic scoring is identical, including the 20 run threshold, unfortunately. No 50/100 run bonuses.

BOWLING:
* 25 points per wicket (up from 20). No bonus for 3 or 5 wickets in a match.
* 20 points for a maiden over (up from 15)
* No points for dot balls (or penalties for extras)
* Economy bonuses remain but are slightly more valuable. They kick in at 8 RPO, but start at 10 points, up to 5 RPO being the maximum of 25.

FIELDING:
* Catches are 12 points (up from 10)
* Every player involved in a run out scores 20 points - including the keeper if they break the stumps

TEAMS/SQUADS:
Teams named at the toss, 30 minutes before game start (11:30pm AEST most nights, 7:30pm if an early game). This year this will include an Impact Player - like the X Factor, but much more versatile - so teams are effectively 12 players instead of 11.
Squads have up to 25 players, up to 8 of which are OS. Teams have a maximum of four OS slots, including the new Impact Player.

PRICE CHANGES:
Prices don't move until three games have been played. This is distinct from three rounds - it doesn't apply this year but if a team had a double in the first two rounds, their prices would move before everyone else's.

Have I missed anything?

Joined, not too sure about how I'll go but figure I'd give this a shot.
Here's what I've ended up with, would appreciate any advice if anyone sees this in time, 88k in bank.

Agarwal , Brook & SKY all on the Bye Round 2 , I guess you can trade SKY out.

Williamson possibly loses his spot when Miller is available.

Rest all looks fine

I haven't replied to any of these because it's just too subjective. As long as you're on top of team drops and all your guys front up round 1 you're likely to be okay.

I'm probably not the best person to give team advice because I like to play this game different to most of the others - I use more intentional donuts and effectively use a squad of 13, which lets me use loops to grab strong scores (and from better players on average) but gives me less DGRs all else being equal.

Thanks much appreciated, haven't been on top of it that much so appreciate the advice to start.

Thanks regardless, it's an interesting strategy and it's given me something to consider.

Good luck to you both, hopefully we can have some high ranked players this season.

Excellent summary, thank you.

For me the key thing for a new coach to remember is that there are some world class players that will not get a game because only four of them can be selected - so don’t just fall for the “brand”. Sometimes the Indian alternative player is close enough in a particular position (eg their spin depth is good) that a very high quality international doesn’t get selected.

If you’re going to pick an international, I think you want to be pretty confident that they are clear best XI, as well as having a good role. It’s a fairly high threshold. A lot of international players also aren’t as good on Indian pitches.

Going in with this I think. Maybe some bench swaps if required, have 196k bank but don’t know what to do with it. Green to Butler or Abhishek to Malik? Bench upgrades?
I believe everyone on field is going to play but would like some confirmation.

From what I can tell , all should be available.

Will need to check final teams for Nagarkoti & Tendulkar.

Didn't realise V Iyer was so cheap.

Reckon its a bit SRH heavy considering they have a bye in R2?? I know they have the double in R3 but you could trade them in after R2 no??

Thanks mate - I was hoping to have 4 in the bench, but I think you may be right. Might be best to trim one.
Only mentioned it because your side is so similar to mine & was of the same thinking but maybe one of U.Malik and or Hosien (as much as I like him) would be the go Who to is obviously the big question which I don't have an answer for lol

I haven't seen much talk about Jos Buttler. Is he playing for R1?
If so, then I think I'll run with this before loops and what not
Any glaring issues please let me know

Gee that is very similar to my side! I just reviewed who was getting games for India a short time ago, and made the following changes.

Samson, Hosein, A Patel
=>
Kohli, Sundar, A Singh

That takes my team a fraction away from yours, but those tweaks might be worth considering if you’re unsure on any names. I wouldn’t profess to have thoroughly researched roles or even each viable player, but I did check basically all the recent Indian international players who had a decent role. Most look good for the IPL, except a few who are a bit dear for their usual output, or maybe sub-elite.

Hoping it's a case of great minds mate lol
Yeah Kohli and Hosein being same price can go either way, but feel my bowling line is stacked a bit so need to fund better bats
Samson & A.Khan are probably my two most expendable atm
Gaikwad getting a decent loop would be great
