Is Luke Edwards worth any consideration vs the lesser priced rookie options this week?
I don't know much on him and hadn't been watching him in the game. Eagles have decent injury list and talk the 2nds vs East Fremantle may not occur due to lack of depth. Amount of injuries that are listed TBC on injury list makes it challenging to assess him being replaced.

With 3 more challenging games coming up and he is a $200k player with a couple of mid 60's, I would be a no. If this season has taught me, go the cheaper players once into upgrade season as every dollar matters.

My personal rank of rookies is Roberts, Williams and Johnson. I considered Johnson last week over JVR as Gawn back makes me nervous, however Johnson scoring power is poor at around 50 based on sub games, luckily he scored a late goal to from from 40's to 60's.

Whats your thoughts on hawkins?
Few things..
Seems to have found fitness and form after starting the year a little underdone. Good history of being a top forward, plus a -6 BE and priced at what feels like value. Has that amazing bye as well, and with Sheezel and Ziebell able to shift back he could be a bargain F5/F6. Plus plays at home against a Sydney team with a lot of KPD injuries.

Currently ranked 41k, not going to sit around and hope Ridley turns out OK.

Ridley, Baker, Chandler 4 Neale, Williams, Roberts

Leaves 136k for next week.

Daicos, Ziebell, Michalanny, Gibney, McKenna, Wilmont (Cowan, Constable)
Oliver, Neale, Petracca, Bontempelli, LDU, Rozee, Hopper, Ashcroft (Long, Chesser, Roberts)
Darcy, Marshall (Madden)
Dunkley, Taranto, Gulden, JHF, Sheezel, Rategulea (Van Rooyen, Williams)

Probably means I have to get Day as a cheap DEF 'keeper' next week.

Dawson, Laird, English the big omissions.

The bolded is a huge consideration for trades this week. A lot of names being traded out in this thread still have 50-60k to make in the next few weeks on average alone. If people are boosting 3 of those players out that's 150k gone begging. Throw in a spike game or two and its and extra 100k lost.
It's a bit of a balance in coming weeks to max cash gains from existing rookies, catching fallen premos and getting the next wave of rookies, to make sure that, during the main upgrade season, you can afford true premos to finish your team.
Its the age-old dilemmaa between cash generation and points, hey?

Somewhere between the two philosophies is the sweet spot where you are maximising points over the season and I think that sweet spot moves from year to year, depending on what all the players are doing and when. It also depends on what philosophy you brought to your starting lineup

All I know is that in recent years, when I have gone for a more value based starting 22, I have held my rookies for longer, come home strong and barely made it into the top 10k. In older days, I'd go pure GnR with similar results but the game was different back then with fewer trades and less available information.

This year, I'm really pushing my trading hard early. I'm almost certain that I'm going too hard and if that turns out to be true, then I'll know better for future years.

I'm interested in when "main upgrade season" starts and ends and how many rookies/MPs you or others are expecting to go into and come out of it with both on field and on the bench. Can you or others expand on that?

You seem to be missing a defender onfield.

The other issue is if you hold rookies for the extra cash there may not be any replacements as good as currently available. Then you get limited cash gen versus giving up 20-30k now but you get that back in the first price rise if you take a good rookie right now.

Is it a must to use three trades this week to go one up two down?
I am thinking of only going the two trades this week Roberts and Williams which would give me bank next week to use the three trades to go two up and one down.
Are we really into upgrade season?
