Rookies are just so bare this year. Looks like the only debutants this week are Lord and Cincotta (who is likely, but not confirmed). These guys will be on the bubble in Round 8.

Lord is in the team with Finlayson, Teakle and Marshall as KPFs and Rucks. With Lycett, Dixon (injured, don't know how bad?) and Georgiades all out of the team putting pressure on his spot. 197cm and 95kg, 22 years old. Ollie Lord Draft Profile - Aussie Rules Rookie Me Central (formerly AFL Draft Central) Played KPD for the back end of 2022 so could play there if injuries occur? DEF/FWD status could come in handy.

Cincotta should score decently but likely gets dropped for Saad when he comes back. If he still holds his spot, then Docherty probably pushes him out anyway. Only way I see him keeping his spot for at least 6-7 weeks (to make his cash) is if an injury to Newman or Cowan occurs, or he goes past Cowan in the pecking order.
I'm leaning towards keeping Baker, Ginbey, McKenzie etc for this reason, but it's hard not to get tempted to dump them when you read through the trades thread.

Rookies always look bare :) Remember 8 weeks ago when we weren't sure who would drop and we wasted countless pages on who would be a sub and who would get frozen out after two games and who would struggle to score and who had a crap coach and so on? Oh and lets not forget: "200k for a rookie is too much."

Same thing happens every year, both before the season and with later rookie waves in season. Maybe 1 in 5 rookies come along where you have no doubt and he's a no brainer pick and even then half the time he fails. Turns out the questionable rookies were just as good.

We have a couple of rookies more or less on the bubble at the start of round 6. They have been eased into it for a few weeks and then performed creditably when given full games. Yes, there is almost always a slew of good reasons not to pick a rookie. At some stage you have to accept the risk and trade new ones in.

414 players will be picked to play AFL this weekend. There will be injuries, meaning plenty of chances for new rookies to provide their grist for the mill. By the time your rookies have finished mooing, if you are the type to squeeze every drop from them, there will have been more than enough replacements presented. She'll be right.

Meanwhile, Sprayshaw, Cogs, Sicily, Sinclair, Zerrett. All are on sale right now but they aren't going to pay for themselves. Nor are Touk, Neale or Laird, who are also significantly down on their regular price, perhaps only temporarily.

Drew Jones reporting Oliver missed training due to flu, test on match day.

Suggestions Nash may go to Dawson (@traders), given Finn plays a different role. Nash big body and tagged Green 2H last week.

Freo training with Aish a tagger - Bont watch. WA jouno.

Maybe it is English VC and work it out after that if needed.
