Forum you got to let me knowey
Should I choose or fade De Goey?
If you say he should be mine
I'll pick him and quite soon I'll whine
So you got to let me knowey
Should I choose or fade De Goey?

He's always tease, tease, tease
Five straight years in the 80s
This year 111 in mids/attack
Then missed the Saints, was on his back
Well come on and let me knowey
Should I choose or fade De Goey?

Should I choose or fade De Goey now?
Should I choose or fade De Goey now?
If I choose there will be trouble
And if I fade it will be double
So come on and let me knowey
Should I choose or fade De Goey?
Fade

Miller > Coniglio. Thanks for your 1 week contribution to my team Touk.
Baker > Mitchell
Jones > Day

Think I'm gonna ignore Wagner, his JS doesn't seem great from what I'm seeing - Freo supporters want him out for Wilson. Will wait for teams though.

What's your thinking here Sam.

Lot of talk preseason, getting 60-77% CBAs, although hasn't shown the ceiling of some others.

Weighing up the Will Days, JDG, Serongs, Libba (when back), to compliment the Lairds, Stewarts who will still come in.

Everyone jumping on COGS this week, low BE although scoring has been erratic.

Gave Mackenzie one last opportunity with Ward and Day out, but even with reasonable mid minutes he failed to deliver, given that the aforementioned 2 are back then he's gone.
Pickett was brought in to make cash and deliver points at F5 but he's failed, has a huge BE and is gone too.
If I lose 1 of Ginbey/McKenna/Michallanney then I have enough to bring Clarry in, I know he'll probably drop another 16k or so, but his obvious points on field outweigh that in my mind at least.

Any Freo fans with thoughts on Sturt's JS? I like him a lot as a player and think he's a likely type to nab a spike score, but he can't do that if he doesn't keep playing.
Not a Freo fan but Sturt certainly passed the eye test last week. Think Fyfe and Switkowski are still a couple of weeks away so hopefully he can get a run of a few and generate some cash!

Do people really think Day is a top 6 defender this year? I wouldn't have him ahead of Dawson, Daicos, Stewart, Sicily, Sinclair, Ryan or Saad.
Agree with you on Dawson, Daicos, Stewart and probably Sicily in the end. The other three it's arguable that they outscore in absolute terms but for dollars paid hard to overlook Day

I think (I hope) Sturt is now a permanent fixture in the forward line, or should at least get the opportunity to string a few games together. Like you said, passes the eye test and brings a bit of natural forward play to the forward line which Freo severely lack. Freo's season pretty much shot, so hopefully the young forward line is given an opportunity to play together and develop a bit of chemistry. Frederick out for 3-4 so that also helps with JS. As things stand right now, I will probably bring him in...

Wagner a harder one to get a read on, gut says he gets dropped this week and he's one i'll be staying away from at this stage....

Anyone given any thought to Xavier O'Halloran. 200k, so high end rookie price, but on the bubble this week with a good Breakeven following a 103 last week (on the back of 3 goals). Missed the first 4 weeks of the season with a quad injury, but straight into the side. A bit down week 1 (41 off 14 possies), and then the ton. More than 5 tackles each week, which is always a good sign.

Price is the main issue, and no real history of consistent supercoach scoring over 4 years in the league, but good size and good age.and a -28 breakeven
My main concern is that IMO he's in that 20-25 range of players that gets chopped and changed following losses, so he has negligible job security. Paying a premium for a rookie like that means you want them out there every week. I also expect him to be more around the 60-ish mark rather than the 100 he just knocked out. His disposal isn't great (other than launching long range goals apparently) and he's nowhere near a first choice mid.

I think it's chasing fools gold to expect to have the top 6/8/2/6 players on each line.
You may get 1 or 2 lines but there will always be a compromise somewhere.
So in that scenario I'm quite happy if he becomes a top 10 defender.

For me, I just don't see his scoring continuing at this level. If he'd never averaged 90 in his career prior but this was a brand new role, I'd be very interested. But he's had a primarily centre bounce role for multiple seasons now, has demonstrated his ceiling and still can't break 90, let alone 105 which he'd need to do (from here onwards) to be a successful pick.

His scoring looks great, and if he was 100k cheaper I might have even had a closer look.
At a similar price or cheaper I'd be looking at any of Cogs, Tom Green, Parish or Day before De Goey. That's just me personally.

Just quietly, my team also has a no flogs policy ;)

If anyone takes the gamble on De Goey, I hope the pick works out for you. I don't have the cajones for it myself.

I started him as a rookie in 2020 and he put up a couple of good scores before he went down with injury.
Hopefully he's back with a more mature body and can get a good run at it.

I'm quite a lot confused this week. Will likely be boosting, but have no idea what I'm doing. Have a bunch of "meh" rookies who could be traded out, but who also have a little bit more money to make if I wanted to fully milk them. They have also all thrown up a spike score over the journey, so trying to guess who is the one that still has another spike in them is an issue.

Current order of "trade out priority" (prior to team selection) goes something like

Roberts
Cowan
McKenna
Baker
McKenzie
Phillipou

Of course Roberts doesn't really net me any cash, and Cowan barely any, which causes problems, so likely hold Cowan (already have Constable as a floating donut, so don't want a second, hence Roberts has to go).

Baker projects to make another 30-40k averaging 60 over the next couple of week, so seems a hold

McKennas job security and potential to spike means I probably hold

Which leaves MacKenzie (a sub affected 14 rolling through, means he's not going up in the short term) and Phillipou (still a tiny bit to make, and a consistent 60 scorer to this point)

Ok, I have almost convinced myself. Only thing is the hurt that all puts on my M/F links, so perhaps will hold Roberts and trade Cowan.

On the other side there seems a few options

Mitchell seems the #1 choice

Beyond that I liked the way the coach talked about Wagner, and the fact he was taking kickins but I don't like the way everyone here talks about him

Sturt I was concerned about JS and role (and scoring being dependent on goals), but people here seem more bullish.

O'Halloran is probably too expensive

And I don't want to go early on Angwin or Simpson.

On the upgrade side I think I just go to the best blue-chip option I can get to. Stewart seems a good option, otherwise I need to work out my bye strategy and who fits that.

Current guess

MacKenzie, Phillipou, Cowan
To Sturt, Mitchell, Stewart.

I think I can afford that.
