2015: Rate My Team - Part II (SC Gold Team Picker Edition)

Depending on how many "premium"/"breakout" players one has in defence will make or break 2015 with lack of previous "gold plated" (as Courtesans has been using lately) like other years. I would put a lot of money that the 2015 winner will start with the perfect combination of premos (Simpson + Hibberd), breakout contenders (Rampe), fallen/returning players (Waters) and rookies. This might just be me but I think it may be hard to find playing defence rookies (that score well and have good job security) but we all must wait for NAB games. To have 2 rookies on field may leave you vulnerable if you are stuck with a KPP. One name to look out for in NAB games in Newnes as he is touted as getting a lot more midfield time at Saints.

Midfield looks interesting with Greene and Wines. Both look like they can go a step further in 2015. However do you think they can score 110+ average to be keepers and not leak points with other seasoned scores like Selwood, JPK, Beams and co?

Rucks are interesting this year. I feel that having a discounted ruck (that looks set to make money as well as scoring well until you find that "set and forget" rucks of 2015) will be a good stepping stone (personal opinion). We never know how scoring output will change with new rules.

I really don't think you need Lycett in forward like as a backup ruckman (if you think Nic Nat may go down?). I think F/R links are only there if you have one of those 300k ruckman that have bad injury histories.

Looks pretty good before we find those rookies from NAB games.

I generally like Lycett because I think he will score in the 90-95 range whilst also providing some back-up in the ruck if/when NicNat has a spell/injured. Rowsus/Klo further enhanced my opinion of him by doing some research the other day on him. If Naitanui wasn't so cheap I would have Lycett at R2 to start. Could I have Lycett & Nic Nat as R1 & R2?

Greene/Wines is one which is giving me grief as well as I feel like I probably should only pick one of them but then I think I will pick the wrong one (Mitchell over Parker - 2014) so put both in there as it is likely they both go beserk early.

No doubt the NAB rookies will determine what structure I go with in terms of backline!

I like Wines if you are struggling to choose between those two. Great scoring progression and you could find yourself with the Joel Selwood 2.0

I am very tempted to go with gut and pick Maric and Nic Nat this year. I do like the Vlaustin pick. Not sure about Mayes. I think you may have too many KPP in defence. I wouldn't go Stringer. Buddy the only KPP at both ends I would pick on a consistent year. Midfield as pros and cons.

My team is about $10,630,000 FristTimer. I added in Rocky today as he was named captain and I do like my captains (Gaz, Pendles, Jelwood, Ward, Hurn). I feel that extra responsibility is helpful (unless your Griffin and feel like quitting AFL all together). My gut says Maric this year more than NicNat right now. With the news that Lids playing a high half forward it might mean I drop him so I can afford this ^ above extravagance. Mitchell I feel if named R1 will be Parker 2015. Don't want to change defence set-up.
