Fwiw, he does need to do a bit to attain the cash generation (and elevated on-field score) you'd ideally hope for.
just rough numbers (didn't bother basing the MN off a curve, just plugged super-rough numbers in with a bit of variation around a mean etc.)

Appreciate that.

I guess it's just whether their are cheaper more viable starting options than the likes of J Clark , Daniher , Dow , Impey , Tyson , Ziebell etc with similar JS and can match their scoring and perhaps make more $$$ quicker.

And a few clangers per match to be expected. I think I have more questions than answers after the CS series. Happy some rookies are appearing but a few question marks around some of the uber premiums.
Certainly a lot more different options/structures now to consider.

Hopefully clubs will announce debutants early next week to make things a bit clearer before the first games start.

Don't think I can look at my team much more , so will be actually nice to have it all locked in.

I don’t think you can draw all those conclusions based on the second half of a practice match?
Rightly or wrongly he averages 86 in losses (excluding the Geelong game).. my point is that there is so many unknowns and more importantly, so many scenarios he isn’t proven in. Today’s game was just a great example of that.. all his strong scoring has come in wins when Gold Coast was well on top.

The history of SC is littered with players who only scored well in those scenarios and couldn’t back it up when the going got tough..

The history of players polling 9 votes in their first 4 games belongs solely to Matthew Rowell. We aren't dealing with statistical norms.

I don't know if anyone else did this but since I had no real idea of what to expect of myself having never played this before, I saved a team before the first game on Thursday and tracked it through the round. Obviously there are caveats around pre-season games (Impey only played half a game!) but I'm really impressed with how it turned out. :)

Gawn 102
Grundy 118 (C)

Dangerfield 94

Ziebell 107
Daniher 63
Impey 39

Total: 2076

Truth be told I don't even know if that's good or not, but it's a lot better than when I threw a side together last year for round 1 as an experiment knowing full well the season wasn't going to get off the ground. The discussion and advice on here has been absolutely first class, and I haven't been contributing that much but I've been a sponge for the last two weeks just trying to learn anything I can. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be able to give something back!

Anything above 2100 is usually a pretty good start I think.
The leading teams will post 2200-2300 from memory.

As for that team, no need to go as deep as D6. You will need lloyd in your team at some point for starters and there will be other must haves.
Dump Williams (suspended R1) and upgrade Heppell.

It's not a bad score. I didn't save a copy of my team from before this weekend, but I know a couple of them didn't play, and a few had down games. I expect you outscored my team with that score.

I generally want to score 100 for Def/Fwd premiums, 110 for Mid premiums, 120 for rucks (based on scoring in recent years) for a good score. Early on around 2100 is a good score with the number of rookies you will have on field (you want these rookies scoring 60-70 if possible), later in the season you are probably aiming for totals around 2400.

I personally rarely hit these numbers consistently, but they are my rough aims.

i will never understand the people that say we cant judge a bloke off 4 games

when it is quite clear the kid is gonna be an absolute star, if 9 brownlow votes in 4 games isnt enough, uve gotta be in denial

this isnt to do with supercoach really, just in general haha
Aaron Hall did similar that one year

Seriously though, 4 games doesn't account for tags and the wear and tear of a whole season.

He looks special though.

I've brought in Harry Sharp, looking very sharp tonight. 117k mid/def endurance beast, broke the record for 2km time trial, apparently did steeplechasing, with longer quarters less rotations, I see why he was recruited.
Still in high school is the big issue, would make travel and the like very difficult. He looked really good though.

A couple of years ago Aaron Hall had 9 votes after the first 3 rounds.. where did he end up? Wasn’t his first 3 games but still.. they started the year with 3 (maybe 4) straight wins and then went MIA for the rest of the year. Who’s to say Rowell’s scoring wouldn’t have been more 90-95 as the losses added up last year? It’s a long season and even longer now we’re back to full length quarters.. can he back up his contested style week after week for 20+ weeks? Big ask on a young body

Not by any stretch saying he’s not a good player and rules are made to be broken (Dusty with 3 norm smith medals springs to mind) but it’s a lot of cash to invest on an unknown quantity.

Link up and spread is Neales game, will post some huge scores this year. Just a bit too expensive for me to start with unfortunately.
Agree, though he does appear underdone. How long will he take to get match fit? 3-5 games or 7-9 games. If it is 7-9 games the best choice might be trade up to him at 600-625k. Will that be possible?

Devo that this week wasn't week 1. How well did some of the rookies play?

Pure GnR approach that I locked in late last week and based on my result I don't know if I'll be touching it...

I don't expect the rookies to play this well ever again but I would've hit 2349 this week with Brockman covering the E for Oliver and captain Gawn.
