Don't underestimate handball. Watched it a few times. Much better that watching The Ruby Princess try to explain anything that involves logic or common sense or a ScoMo presser that involves yet another reference to his mum or his wife or some other family member. And their salaries blow the AFL away easily. Try 2.5m euros for one of the top players.

That 2.5m euros is for "our boy", Dane Mikkel Hansen. He has been the top, or top 2, ranked player in the World for around 4 years now.
The salaries drop very quickly after his though. The 20th best player gets around 300k euros, which is around $500,000 Aus.
