Trades made: Cahill to Jordon
Heroes: Gawn, Grundy, Ziebell, Steele, Merrett, Warner
Villains: Neale and four sub 50 rookies

Comments: The curve is continuing to trend upwards after my round 1 disaster put me at almost 87k rank to kick things off. Still being a stubborn old fool and holding firm on the players I started given I picked them for a reason. To continue to move upwards whilst Danger sits in my team is a relief. Two trades that I was tossing up between were Cripps to Ridley and Cox to Impey, and ended up doing neither. I missed points this week but my two players turned things around so hoping the saved trade has greater benefit longer term. I would prefer to hold again this week given half me team have negative breakevens but have to think long and hard about sidewaysing Neale to another premo and Kosi to Chapman.

Trades Out: : ROB (101), Henry (DNP)
Trades In: Walker (130), Jordan (49)
Heroes: Grundy (162), Ziebell (155), Dunkley (132), Walker (130), Merrett (115), Cripps (109), Macrae (108x2), Jelly (100)
Zeroes: Oliver (67), Butters (55)
Comments:
Not the greatest week to get Jordon in, but he should still make some $$.
ROB finally with a decent score after trading him out, but happy with Tex in the team.
Not sure if Tex stays for the cash generation or hangs around as a keeper, happy to be a bit flex on that.
Oliver getting DeBoered wasn’t great. Butters part of a dirty day for the Power.

Annoyed with myself for missing the VC on Grundy, I had it at one stage, and in the late shuffling, it reverted back to Macrae. Not the worst outcome, but 50 odd points gone begging.

Hoping Highmore out is only a temporary aberration and expecting Sharp to be in and out of the side as they ease him into AFL. Only rookie I’m having FOMO over is Warner, though I thing that ship has sailed. With 20/20 hindsight I should have grabbed him over Jordon, but I don’t think it’s season defining.
Trades I’m considering this week are Kosi & Caldwell out for Ridley & Impey.

Only won 4/10 leagues, but pleased one was SCS02.

Villains: Oliver and Neale

Comments: Pretty happy with my score, nearly par for the round, had Fyfe on the bench. Highmore unexpectedly out, showed the vulnerability in my defence, having A Fyfe doing nothing and reliance on Kosi's score which was expected and very low. Never liked him as a pick, but had to pick someone. Port had their first tough match and everyone struggled, this showed in my midpricers Drew, Aliir and Fantasia with the latter doing well with 2 goals finding the ball himself. Once the Power are on I'd expect scores to increase by 20 points each. Neale, well thought he was back in the 1st half, then faded in the 2nd half, should be right to go with a 9 day break. Had some hard luck stories which affected scoring, Hind knock to the head was out for nearly a quarter, went off near end of 3rd, returned halfway through last and scored 85, could have easily been a 110 the way Essendon dominated. Walsh and Jordon tog is concerning, Walsh should have scored 140+, Jordan got to 58 before being scaled to 49, used in bursts by Goody, hopefully gets more of a run to maximise scoring and cash gen.
Trades Intended: Kosi to Chapman most likely.

Got most of the rookies, except Impey and an old Rookie in Tex.
Sticking to my plan of minimal trades, although I'm green with envy watching some coaches make bold moves that pay off. Congratulations to our members who scored well and are at the pointy end and well done to those battling through the ranks after a slow start. Looking forward to round 4 and what surprises await us.

Comments: Can't complain with how the week played out. Up into my 2nd best round 3 position ever. This time last year i was 126th and then declined for 4 weeks straight through ill disciplined trading, hoping not to make that mistake again. Was 50/50 all week about the Neale trade but with the impending price drop, tough draw, injury concerns and no dedicated ruckman taping it down to him i thought it was a bridge too far and decided to trade. Safe to say i wasn't too impressed with myself at halftime but come Saturday night I couldn't be happier. Not only should Neale drop 150k, but Ridley seems to have overtaken Lloyd for the #1 defender mantle. Massive bonus that the trade netted me 60 odd points already, didn't think i would start seeing the points benefit of it start to flow through until i used the cash from the trade for my first upgrade in a week or two. With rookies looking so thin i'm glad i went through with it, but it also means i have 7 premium defenders with Laird in the mids and Daniel or Stewart at D6 at this rate who hopefully don't lose too many points to most teams M8s come years end. My other trade wasn't so great. Never like getting rid of playing rookies with such low breakevens but Jordon seemed a must have and i wanted to maintain my floating donut in Spicer especially after Grundy managed 162 on the Thursday. No more than 24 hours later Highmore goes and gets dropped so i could have traded Spicer and kept Scott and his cash gen. I imagine it won't be the last time 24 hour beforehand team news messes with my trades but i certainly won't be the only one, its annoying but nothing really that can be done.

Dow will be the first rookie downgraded for me, really thought he had better scoring potential and JS than Scott but that now seems like wishful thinking, was a bit of a nothing/defensive selection with his ownership so high. Will be gone to Waterman next week if he backs up his first game efforts. Will give me 350k odd to play with for my first upgrade which might be Clark at this rate either next week or the week after but alot to play out between then. Really glad i backed my gut with the Impey selection. Him and Ziebell, if they keep their roles, seem the types that can be kept for as long as possible without losing too many on field points with the forward premiums being so weak. If the rookie situation gets much worse they'll likely be staying in permanently until injury gets to them. Really need Meek to play for at least 1 more week to get to a tradeable price and help justify the non Gawndy lineup but it doesn't seem too likely. Will aim to hold on the bench for an eventual return down the track and hope nothing happens to my R1 and R2 that causes me to trade him with just a 55k price increase. Also got Highmore, Kozi, Rowe and Brockman like the majority of coaches who arent doing a bunch so might need to get creative or hope for a spike game.

Upgrade season isn't far away, guys like Neale, Bont, Oliver and Titch could all be hitting 570-580k in a fortnight so will hopefully be able to pick up a couple in the next month if all goes well.

SCSBOTB with another modest improvement into 93rd overall.

Intended Trades: Only Gresham not sure who to yet, but need some bank.
Comments: I'm shocked to be sitting here (insert James Hird gif). No, but seriously I am..
Starting so well with SC promising me the world by the end of Friday night and delivering me an Atlas by Monday afternoon. This game can be such a rollercoaster of emotions. (Probably why we all love it so much, but still).. I feel like my side isn't horrible just not quite clicking and my PODs seem to be sharing good weeks rather than coming together.

In much better news, my Mighty Dons smashed the Saints which brought much joy to an otherwise ****ty weekend. Bring on Rd4

Villains: Neale 89, Green 64, Clark 61, Campbell 29, Dow 27, Kosi 22, Young 18
Comments: The indecision of not picking up tex or impey for green or dow is looking to really cost me some important cash gen looks to be upwards of 150k+ plus for both of them the saved trade is definitely not worth that loss but I'm not particularly keen on them after their first price rises don't get me wrong I still think they could be good options at their respective prices but missing the first price is probably too much of a mental block for me to get over think I would rather just be stubborn and complain after tex demolishes north and impey keeps on averaging 90+ :p Overall I'm very happy with how the round went in terms of my score with the exception of the young injury. Ziebell scoring 155 in that loss feels a bit wrong and I feel a bit dirty for it.
Intended Trades: Young to Chapman I think bergman and highmore get back in their sides kosi potentially dropped I'm just unaware of whos in the wings ready to take his position. Will persist with green and hunter clark for the time being because I think if they both get the midfield minutes they deserve then the scoring will follow suit and will provide decent enough value as starting picks hopefully.

Intended Trades: Possibly HYoung>Jiath

Comments: Thought I was traveling ok until the Young injury. Kosi and Brock left me completely flat and missed a possible 2200+ score which would have improved ranking significantly. New recruit Ridley (first time owner) was just sublime. The new king in defense. Gawn(c) came through after most had already locked away Grundy vc. Midfield premos Neale Bont and Jelly to an extent underwhelming. Still awaiting all to fire in the same week. Only used 1 trade to date so I’ll be looking to move HYoung. I was quite bullish on him but sadly ended up a failed speculative pick.

Villains: Titch, Dusty, T Phillips, and a slew of weak rookies (Rowe, Berry, Kosi, Brockman, Fullarton).

Comments: Still fighting back from a defective starting lineup. Had a Sliding Doors moment this round about whether to trade in Berry or Impey, unfortunately went Berry. Impey looks like a possible F6 candidate at 90-95pts - while he may not average top 6, the fact that he can still be brought in for a relatively cheap price and remove from field a 40-50pt rookies (Rowe, Fullarton, Brockman), is very tempting.

Am still paying the price for going the unproven midpricer route this year (Duggan, T Phillips)...they are proving difficult to unwind at this stage. Will never make the mistake again of selecting expensive midpricers who have not had a premium season.

Heroes: Ridley, Steele, Merrett, Gawn, Grundy (C), Walker, Ziebell, Impey, Warner (Bench: Flynn, N. Cox)
Villains: Bontempelli, Mitchell, (Rookies on field: Campbell, Bench: Koschitzke)
Comments: Happy to be heading in the right direction in the ranking, still a long way to crawl into the top 1000. Ideal start with the League wins.
Biggest Villian was Bontempelli, but not surprised, so a big score coming up to balance his average, yeah? Expected Mitchell to be tagged, thought he would have scored more though. Neale scored what I expected, hoping his mystery back issue improves quickly. Ridley, Gawn, Grundy and Ziebell super heroes and a special mention to Walker and Warner. I was ready to trade N. Cox out after 2 poor performances, but Bergman was dropped so Cox servived and scored well. The Rookies scoring are so unpredictable, they keep me guessing each week.
It's nice when luck is going your way, but mostly it doesn't stay that way.
Intended Trades: Highmore may be my Floating Donut next round, maybe Koschitzke to Chapman.

Comments: Vast improvement over past two rounds spearheaded by Gawn and Grundy, so happy with that. May need to look at Kelly to Ridley this week and posibliy Sharp to Chapman. Ridley looks like a required player especially when I don't have Lloyd either, not sure Kelly is. Duggan, Taranto and Phillips made some improvement at lease none were on the Villians list ;).

I know 'keepers should not be traded, but not having Ridley at this point looks more likley to hurt me.

Comments: Considering the hammering I copped last week, I was just pleased to get past 2000 for the first time this yr. I went with a mid-pricer strategy and looks like it was the wrong call in 2021 - Rookies have scored really well and too many of my picks haven't!! Hopefully Heppell and Fyfe are back this week and I can gradually improve on my dismal standing.
Intended Trades: I have to try something a bit different to gain lost ground. Culling 2 more of my failed mid-pricers so

Still in a bit of shock from the weekend. Made no changes to my team that scored 2,403 last week
What was my best start to the season, has been followed up by my worst weekly ranking from memory
De Goey and Hunter Clark are the main worries, and aren't getting the mid time that was eluded to, but I will give them more time
Intended Trades:
Hayden Youngs now high BE and possibly missing time with a hammy means I'll be moving him to Chapman.
May go a week early on Waterman just so I don't have too see Dows name in my team anymore

Head up and soldier on, great work for posting :)

Hard to beleive basically the same team could post a scoring vaiance of nearly 500 points from week to week, especialy when you more than likely nailed your highest scoring player as C.

Head-up, move on to next week as quickly as possible, without seeing your team to score 2,403 in round 2 so obviously the bones are good so drastic changes may not be necessary, can't do anything about Rd 3, focus on improving your team for the coming weeks :)

Trades made: Nil, intended on trading Daniel to Ridley, didn't realise there were 2 Good Friday games and missed the lockout. Ridley looks like he's going to average 115+ and I'm gonna have to cop it for the next 8 weeks now.
Points Lost: D:0, M:16, F:11 - plus and extra 51 from missing the Daniel > Ridley trade.
Heroes: Lloyd, Zerrett, Gawn, Grundy, Ziebell, Warner, Impey
Villains: Campbell, Kosi, Leon Cameron.
Intended Trades: Definitely getting Chapman in, will figure out on Friday who that'll be at the expense off.
Comments: My premos just aren't cutting it atm. They aren't going horrible, they are just aren't good enough for what I payed.
GWS, please sack Leon Cameron, playing Kelly as a HF, even after Cogs went down, even after DeBoer went down, how ****ing inept can you be?

Villains: Oliver 134... after being doubled as C from 67 , Bont 82, Mitchell 89, Campbell 29
Comments: Always harder to post after a rough week and it's tough to watch teams go sailing past by 100s of points, but the ranking is still good and the structure is in place for a solid season yet.

Other than a big fail on the C pick with Oliver, across the ground this really wasn't too bad a week, even with giving up the 160s to highly owned players that we shall not mention. The main problem came from Bont, Macrae, Jelly, Titch and Oliver only accumulating 446 points - last week this was almost 200 points more plus another 50 for the captain. If the mids go back to scoring like premiums I hold my ranking or even improve it. Anyway, no point whining over what has been, just gotta hope these players post some better scores next week.

Brought in Tex for Merret in a bit of a crazy move but that looks like a win for cash gen. Means I can use the change to bring in Grundy by maybe R5 or 6 and then probably swap Tex out for Gawn a few weeks later, while still profiting from the cash made by the rookie ruck line. I hope anyway.

Intended Trades: Hunter to Chapman maybe; or will have to sweat on Meek holding his spot.

Comments: One frustrating brain fart away from a good week that would have had me moving properly in the right direction. Had Grundy VC with no donut, was going to do the (obvious, normal, sensible) thing and put C on Gawn in case a donut showed up, but for some reason with 40 seconds to go before Bulldogs game I put the C on Macrae. I blame too much television as a kid. No capacity for delayed gratification. Only 53 points which isn't a huge deal in the long run but was the difference between a proper good week, moving into the top 10k and feeling good, and not.

Trading Cripps out doesn't feel great but obviously happy with Ridley. Thought Cripps looked good in second half, even though obviously still sore. Keen to see how he goes with a shorter break, but my mind is open to getting him back. Though a lot of good value mids coming down the pipeline soon.

After trades this week my team will basically be what I want. I have one too many rookies on field but I am staying the conservative course and avoiding the obvious booms on offer. If Chapman and Waterman and Dev Robertson weren't all looking like good INs I would be more inclined to jump on Impey at least. Those who have kept an extra rookie off field by having at least a few of Walker, Impey, Cumming, Chiath pile are certainly looking like winners for now. But I think I've mostly missed the boat and will just hope it course corrects sooner rather than later.

Comments: After trades I had 700k in the bank so knew I would take a hit on rank this round. I see a need to cover myself in the rucks, both vs points and in case of Meek not playing at some point, so Grundy will come in now while I have the cash. That leaves me 4 trades down. I don't really feel comfortable doing a fifth but if it means Impey in and the F6 rookie roulette game over between (Jones, Rowe, Brockman) it might be worth it. Am already feeling like the Danger & Cripps trade outs will come back to haunt me, I just know those 2 trades will be sorely missed in the second half of the year.

Comments: Oliver was C until Grundy stood up in first game. Saved me there. Teams dropping 24 hours before is making life tough for planning. Not kicking arse but team is holding its own at the moment.
Intended Trades: Keen to trade and resisting the urge. Hunter and Kosi are really the two who are under review. Would love to see Treacy given an extended run with Freo. If he is picked and Hunter still out I will trade as gives me dpp to Marshall down the track, and loophole. Phillips is underwhelming but not worth trading as too sideways. Probably going to cost 200 points over the year on a good F6 option and could come good yet. Come finals and trade situation can assess luxury trade option.
