Swans vs Richmond

General - Pretty solid game, Richmond got out Richmonded, just relentless pressure on them and they struggled big time to handle it and Swans just showed a lot more poise and class going inside 50 and then a lot more pressure on the ground as well. Super low stoppage game as well which probably suited Richmond more given how bad they were in the clearances.

Tigers - It's not even so much that they were bad, they just copped pressure like they rarely seem to and just didn't handle it well, they were pretty lucky to be as close as they were given how badly the Swans kicked at goal in the first half, it was 10.10 but they were all easy chances and it probably should have been 15-18 goals from the 20 shots. Tiges just got beaten at every level.

Short - Struggled under the pressure, basically relied on the kick-ins to salvage the game. He wasn't good but his teammates were even more panicked which means he had a lot less chances to run around the back. Still a decent score in a bad game.

Lynch - Big junk effort from him once the game was done. Wonder if he finds some confidence from it? Yes, I still think there's a premium in there

Nankervis - Was solid, planted well behind the ball, had two marks that were marks not paid and his score could have gone big.

Martin - Amazing score for him, he was terrible and kept getting the golden ticket treatment, had an uncontested kick that he kicked straight into the man in front of him that got graded contested and ineffective instead of uncontested and the clanger it was and actually score points for the play, I didn't see any of his contested touches to be honest and yet comes out with 9, even his DE% was absurd, he had a good 4 of his kicks that went 30m to a Swan or a contest that got graded effective and a couple more handballs that did the same. Basically he's had an absolute mare and was one of the poorer players on the ground and waltzed out of it with a "huge impact" ratio, if you've got him you'd be delighted he can play that badly and score that well, as someone who doesn't have him it's quite frankly scary. I'd say that Campbell's ratio was fair and that Martin and Campbell had pretty much the same output, for mine Martin played a 55:35 type of game.

Prestia - Hamstring very early in the game.

Swans - Relentless pressure and composure with the ball, that was the difference in this game. Luckily the game was well over by the 4th when they ran out of steam and the whole side started cramping. Should have won by considerably more but very poor goal kicking was definitely an issue that threatened to turn the game. Looked scary good to be honest, the cat is out of the bag and now there are expectations so here comes the soul crushing time!

Wicks - Not fantasy relevant but played a blinder, just found dangerous pockets in the zone all day, I'm pretty sure Richmond didn't man him up at any point.

Lloyd - Cometh the 40 point margin, cometh the seagull! Just keeps working into space for those cheap chips and did a fantastic job of it, was good in the first quarter, did nothing in the 2nd when the game was won and then just went ballistic. Did enough early to keep his ratio with the junk.

Mills - Also junked very solidly with a huge last quarter but he also was the guy who really turned the screws in the 2nd quarter as we put the game away, just dominated the stoppages for a 10 minute period and his hands were absurd to put teammates into space. Really solid game. Ratio was fair as his DT was a lot of junk late.

Dawson - Intercepted everything and just hit targets and big kicks to open the game up. Played great.

Parker - Rock solid game, enjoying the help.

Warner - Kid looks great, if anyone takes the rising star nomination off him this week they'll have played a blinder because he was the other guy who blew the game wide open, CBA work was the real standout. Rowbottom going to have some task to get his role back after the last two weeks.

Gulden - Strong junk by him but I think his ratio was a bit stiff, he did some really nice things early that just didn't seem to get rewarded and seemed to get a bit over punished for the couple of mistakes. Just the ability to bob up everywhere in space changes the whole forward dynamic, strange that a rookie is so important to the structures.

Hickey - Played a great game, all of a sudden he's flying high on confidence and looks the goods, he and Nank clearly agreed to give each other plenty of space in this one.

Heeney - Grimes a very tough matchup for him, did some nice things but was always going to struggle to score well against an elite opponent like that. Role still the concern but suddenly it seems to be in a good team which certainly lessens that.

McDonald - Kid is special, actually dropped a couple of easy marks that should have led to shots at goal also but just finds dangerous spaces and is so good below his knees for his size. Thanks North.

Campbell - Couple of key clangers when the game was on the line just blew his ratio apart, didn't get involved in the junk in the 4th either unfortunately. Still looks the goods, his confidence to take on kicks most players don't even see is great and just didn't quite come off this week. Also got stiffed a couple of tackles so that doesn't help.

This Saints game is the classic "play stupid games, get stupid prizes" example.

You've got a genuine ruckman, the other team has none, so you be nice and drop him so you can play some part timers and give up your advantage. A half later and the clearances, especially in the centre, are being dominated by your opponent...

Hill off half back is also an utterly questionable decision, I just don't get it, it's like take all his strengths and reduce them so you can highlight what he doesn't do well, in particular contests...

These umpires are having an absolute mare.

No prior on that at all. The horrific Ridley "unrealistic" call.
I want to say that isn't even the first unrealistic attempt wrong call of the weekend! Can't remember the other game I saw it in but almost identical in that they would have been OK if not for the spoil from the third man up.
