So from what we've seen and read, it sounds like Josh Daicos and Steele Sidebottom will be our permanent wingmen (Sidebottom's natural role), with others rotating off half-back and midfield.

What's stopping Sidebottom from regaining his premium scoring status?

$475k M/F, has played 20 games or more in 5/6 recent seasons.

7 seasons above 100, 4 seasons above 105, 1 season above 110.

My next prediction is the Butters train here on Supercoach Scores is going to look like this by the time round 1 comes along :-

:p
I’ll drive the Heeney train, if you drive the Butters one :p Hopefully it’s a safe journey!

Last time I was the driver of the Heeney train, we didn’t even get to depart (Heeney injured in a preseason game lol).

I must be the fat conductor on board all 3 trains then

Could also get on that Bailey train but really struggling after he torched me last year in DT that @Juzzo has commandeered!

Apparently Steele has lost the excess fat he had last year. This would put him in good stead for his wing role. I have him in DT, might consider him in SC.

22 days to go might lock in 5/8's of it

Dunkley * , Heeney , Butters , Coleman * , Coniglio * , Curnow / Rookie , Rookie

Kiddy swings to defence if it looks likely we have 3 viable F starting rookies

Only 3 lines to go

Thats an injury waiting to happen sort of forward line. Shame it is almost identical to my forward line :p

Kiddy = Coleman (Brisbane Lions)

Hopefully if they do get injured it's not at the same time and they have given me plenty of points and risen in $ to give a easy trade.

Steele is that standout "it was an easy pick" when we look back with hindsight and yet so few will make it
Lol maybe I sold the Sidebottom pick a bit too hard, but to provide a bit more context...

While Sidebottom showed signs of being a capable centre bounce midfielder early on in his career, that is not the pathway he developed later on. Over the last 10 seasons, the vast majority of his 100+, 105+ and even 110+ seasons have been generated from a wing.

Sure he's okay as an inside mid - averaged 99.14 when he had 50% CBA or more last season, but wing is ultimately his natural position. Yes inside midfield tends to be a positional upgrade for most players, but this isn't always necessarily true especially for outside players like Sidebottom.

So to conclude:
Inside Mid > Wing is an UPGRADE for Sidebottom
Inside Mid + Half forward (2021) > Wing is a HUGE UPGRADE for Sidebottom
