Erasmus update - sent to the WAFL preseason game as whilst having a cracking preseason, hasn't played a lot against men. Was apparently close to being picked vs WCE.

Apparently destroying the WAFL players, put him back on the radar to play next week.

I like it and have nothing bad to say about it, in fact I like it a lot.

I personally am nervous fading Lloyd, I think both Short and Ridley both will be top 8 defenders, but I do feel that Lloyd and Dawson might both be next level.

Weller worries me a little though, he just feels like that pre-season stud that turns to an early season dud.
Yeah I really want Lloyd but he's a bit of a stretch with this team. I feel that Ridley and Short have an extra have 5-8 points in them and offer a bit more value to start with.

Weller definitely most expendable in this team. If he doesn't impress next week or the <$123k rookies aren't named Round 1 then I'll just downgrade him to a Curnow/Berry type and use the funds to shore up the rookies.

Something like this is quite tempting as a 5 mid, 12 premium option. I probably would prefer Butters/Heeney/TT as another forward over spreading the cash over Coleman+Curnow+extra, and it might be feasible with a lot of $102k rookies, but for now I don't mind this.

Interesting , was hoping you would post it.

Not sure who the 12th premium is though , count 3-5-2-1.

7 onfield rookies , a lot of that bench looks doubtful to feature Round 1 , but with 16 days to go who knows

Adjust Dawson & Weller and it probably does give 12 premiums to be honest.

Actually get the bench strong enough and it certainly could be very viable indeed

Was looking for a Cheeser replacement and he just keeps coming back into my team ...

Fair, Weller's a Midpricer but at a premium price so there's the risk taken there.

Yeah honestly who knows with the bench rookies; random guesswork at the moment.

What's your reason for leaving Lloyd out? Seems to be one of the strongest options this year across all lines.
No reason other than financial constraints. It's hard to fit everyone in when you're trying for 14 keepers (if you want to call Weller that). Only queries would be maybe the inclusion of JPK in a half back role and the continued development of Blakey/Campbell may limit Lloyd's ability to go back above a 110 average and so there's more value in other picks. But yes, Lloyd is one of the safest picks.

I'd really love an excuse to not have to start JHF and go with a cheaper rookie but it looks like he'll be too good to leave out.

Just keep moving the pieces until they all click together.

Good to see how a rookie D4 & F6 does allow 5 premium mids + 2 premium rucks

Always good to look at other structures , very easy to get stuck in one particular structure and not deviate from it.

Posting for reference where I sit after week 1 of practice matches. Probably some over reactions but I'm happy with the current setup. Would love 5 premium mids but it's hard to be done with Gawn + Grundy.

Not convinced with Brodie, but if he starts round 1 I'll be mighty tempted. Just a ball magnet in the right role. I've seen much worse kicks get long stints in a freo side.

Like it mate, not sold on Curnow & Brodie but structure very similar to mine currently.

Nothing wrong with any premium selected in this team.

Not sure about Curnow and Brodie however.

You think Brodie plays round 1 and receives decent midfield time?

This is my one below. Not final and will make a couple of changes (especially on some of the rookies) but would appreciate any feedback.
Cheers!

Not a big fan of the Rowell pick, heavily managed minutes in the preseason game did little to convince me.
No Butters … you know my feelings about him 😜

Gawn & Oliver just looked awesome, hard to overlook them.

Crisp has come in for Ridley - just have a few doubts on Rids with Redman/ Hind sharing kick outs. Lloyd & Crisp are the most solid premium defender picks. I am taking the educated risk on Coleman at this stage - just love the lucrative rebounding half back role he looks set for, much depends on 2nd game - really wished he played last week to help confirm my thoughts ….
Tarryn Thomas is the 1 guy I just can’t squeeze in but I have Butters & Heeney just ahead of him.

Well - it's almost exact same in terms of players and structure I'm running at this time so this makes me happy

I actually think Lloyd is very fadeable this year, I'm picking him and have had him in every draft but that's because I'm parking all my risk up forward and have gone the safest picks down back to counteract that but I'd be surprised if he gets to the 115+ range it would require for him to harm those who don't start him. Simple reality is that at his price if he's at 110 average at round 7 he's going to cost what he costs now. It's actually hard for him to really punish from where he's at. It's possible and he's done it before but I think that both Campbell and Blakey are much worse partners in crime than Mills was when he was at his peak. Mills a much more patient ball user who was happy to go sideways a couple of times to pry openings for either him or Lloyd to advance into. Blakey is going to tuck and run, always, it's what he does. Campbell thinks he can make any kick, a habit that will need to change but wont quickly, and as a result he doesn't yet understand the value in that sideways shift to open the seam up for the kick and instead backs what is, admittedly, an amazing leg to brute force into gaps that are going to close quite often at this level.

I do think Sydney's success last year was a bit of a flash event and that after teams had worked us out we did struggle last year and may do so again this year but not to the extent that Lloyd's likely to average 120 again.

I mean I'm picking him for the first time in about 4 years, so I hope he does, but I think he's an easy fade target. The hardest fades are definitely the guys like Sicily or Dunkley where they could be 20+ points underpriced, they're stupidly popular picks and it would be really hard to close the POD if you go against them. Dunkley it's because his role can change at a whim and his terrible durability, those aren't changing mid season. Sicily may be easier to close but it's hard mentally to do it and there are lots of other options. Fading Grundy also very hard with his upside and popularity and the lack of alternates.

Some very strong teams in the last few posts, genuinely struggle to find issues with them.
