Reckon Rachele very stiff, much more influential in a live game as opposed to very junky, not to discredit Martin who was excellent but I think doing it when there is genuine pressure in a game you almost won just means more. Daicos a strong 3rd.

Doubt it matters, they'll all get nominations by the time Daicos gets DEF status.
I actually think this somewhat influences decisions when there's a few to pick from. You can almost bank Daicos and Rachele getting a nomination at some stage so why not throw Martin in. And I'm not taking anything away from his game but if you're splitting hairs, I'd say there's more chance Rachele has another game like he did on the weekend but maybe not so much Martin

It's also a great way to pump up players hoping to make it onto an AFL list.
Stories like Martin's are considered inspirational gold.

Was it Quaynor a few years back who got a nomination (or missed out on one, I forget) due to a "body of work" over the course of the season rather than just the one game? That would lend some credence to this theory.

Usually the last three or four rounds are raffled between "body of work" players, i.e. whoever may have had a bunch of second or third best rookie weekends throughout the year or nailed a starting spot for the whole season, barring a ridiculously outstanding performance.

That is exactly the way I viewed the decision and why I thought Martin would be selected.

I agree. Then again, Martin will do it again this week so maybe they should have given it to Daicos :D

Does anyone have access to detailed breakdowns of players scores?

For example what would N Martin's (114 points) and Rachele's (118 points) score be if they kicked say 2 goals 3 points (and 2.4) rather than 5 goals 0 points (and 5.1)?
Obviously there is weighting and share of 3,300 points that muddies the scoring.

I'm trying to figure what N Martin's base line would be (say 60 points) and if he is worth trading in for say Baldwin or Owens.

Id be more worried about Rachele's floor, Martin has shown capacity to win the footy he didnt actually gain a great deal of points from his goals.

Don't think too much about it. A 5 goal, 27 possie, 77% tog, 114 sc game on debut.
Even if he only scores 60's from here he is worth every cent at 102k!
