Yes, I think the Berry downgrade is a better option if he's injured. Chasing another midpricer after one match seems a bit mad.
Probably a good thing to do now that I think about it

Nailing the mid pricers is what turbo charges your season. The only problem is choosing the right one. Therefore, when you see one failing and another succeeding, you should think about switching.

The problem with Lipinski is that it might be a trap. As a Pies fan, it brings tears to my eye, seeing the connection he already has with Grundy. Why, big Reg didn't tap it to his own toes or the oppo ruckman once all game on the weekend! Only JDG would have a better connection with the big man at the moment and the result was lots of points for Pat.

But StKilda didn't have a midfield on the weekend. There was Steele and daylight. Next week, we meet Adelaide on the G and while it will be a sterner test, it is a long way from Melbourne/Geelong/Carlton (cough spit). Will Pat tonne up again against the Crows and suck everyone in for the round 2 trade only to have his arse handed back to him against Danger and co in Round 3? Coz that Cats midfield were brutal on the weekend.

TT, unless Hough is dropped I would have thought that quite a risky trade for week 1. Hough is one guy I will be considering after round 2 depending on how he scores, as he is cheap and 47 isnt bad by any means. Additionally, week one scores are the first to drop out so they have the LEAST impact on value for the year.

I can see dumping a $180k-$208k rookie with a 50avg as a good move, but a basement priced rookie who is playing is worth hanging onto in my view.
I may reverse the trade, but it is more of a structure correction

Holding all my underperformers (which there were a few, particularly the defenders) for another week, but there on notice, Ridley, Whitfield and Crisp, they better get back to there seagulling ways

Might trade Soligo out, as he couldn’t get near it, already, have Hayes and Martin, not sold on anyone at a similar price to justify me burning a trade

It's too early to go Ward to Martin right? Stephens, Hough and MacDonald all chances to be more worth trading come next week.

After the Friday night game, I went Witts down to Pruess which gave me Hayes score but more importantly it gave me the money to up JHF/Daicos/Ward to Lipinksi. If pruess is named then I’ll probably go through with Ward to Lipinksi. If not, might have to trade him back to Witts 😬

Yeah I think so, Ward showed enough in the preseason game to justify another week, its not really going to hurt holding him one more week.

Having said that, I didnt see the game so not sure if his role changed substatially from the preseason to now, so don't really know.

But I think you would be pretty disappointed if you traded this week, Ward goes well and Martin (touch wood) got injured.

Hold for now IMO pending more information.

If it gives you cash for another needed trade (eg, Berry to Rowell), go for it. Otherwise, wait a week.
Yeah if Berry is actually injured I might do the trade to facilitate a trade to Lipinski, or could opt for Caldwell instead and not do the trade. I already have 80K in the bank so the trade would put me 4k off Berry to Green and another 25K odd off from Berry to Crippa

My reading between the lines is Berry isn't actually injured, was looking fine with an arm around his shoulder post game and was posting videos of his dogs playing in his bed on instagram the following morning, if he was really injured I doubt he'd be as jovial.

On the trading Gawn out topic I wouldn't exactly talk anyone out of doing it. As a non Gawn owner this is a biased and possibly reactionary perspective but I'm happy I've gone Witts. I just think the extra cash is well used elsewhere rather than having the funds tied up in Gawn. Gawn is still obviously a gun player and will be top 3 in his position but I think the cheap rucks look strong this year. Witts dominated Nic Nat and looked back to his best with the added bonus of having an elite core of mids around him now. Then you have Hayes who looked to cement his place, Preuss who hasn't played yet but I think will be solid, English for R/F cover and Xerri who will gain dpp so there's bail outs if things go wrong. Gawn's ceiling looks limited for mine with his hitouts capped at around 35 with him playing more forward as he gets older I think it's likely to be a 110-120 average and not likely to be the season ruining guy that goes 135+ now. Another small bonus is you get to have a look if Marshall and Darcy can go to another level. Overall if you feel in desperate need of a restructure it's a discussion that's at least worth raising.
Well done on your pick and the logic - but if you started Gawn trading him after 1 round is crazy. Picked him for a reason - and one 90 game doesn’t erase the history the young blokes are yet to establish. Something very similar happened last year and quickly went pear shaped @Herbie66 ? Makes things more interesting though.

Other option I have for making cash is Crisp to Hewett, but really not sure that's a great idea.

Ward to hewett or Tom green... I'm liking green thoughts
Thinking similar, but in reality I want to get the rookies right first.

Green is a third year player so ready to break out (not guaranteed to break out however). Obviously scored really well as an inside mid in a stacked midfield, but i don't think his role will change much. Is prone to the odd soft tissue injury and that is probably the only knock on him.

Hewett seemed to play as a pure mid and looked great doing it, has M/D dual position status which makes him really attractive paired with Whitfield. Slightly cheaper, and not injury prone. The question is how much will Walsh's return affect his role?

Hewett might suit me more to get a Def rookie off the field, and for his DPP but I think Green will score more in the long run with Walsh's return reducing Hewett's scoring a bit. It's a really hard question and both could end up as fantastic picks so pick the guy who improves a weaker line.

I remember Houston a year or two ago was all the rage and didn't quite live up to the hype.

Don't remember him being discussed at all this preseason as a potential midpricer.

Anyone who watched the Port game, can you comment? Did he play through the midfield a lot?

Will be very interesting to see how Cripps and Hewett go against a much stronger mid field in the Dogs this week. Would be shocked if they both go 130+ again.

Is there any news about Berry's shoulder injury?

If out long term, I really like Alex Davies as an option - 202K big bodied mid, really liked his game yesterday, scored 90.

A left field option, if looking for a cheap defender I will suggest Luke Foley - 245K. Played across wing/half back yesterday so a very nice role, he is a very nice kick/ solid technique & makes good decisions. Scored 98 yesterday, think he plays alot this year with Cole out long term - he is 22 with an AFL ready body. He was a real positive for WCE yesterday, showed real composure.
I like the Davies move. Do you know anything about his JS?

I thought that Houston’s form was the key takeaway from that game.
I’ve seen a couple of posts saying he was on a wing, but if so he ranged all over the ground.
Definitely BOG for mine & looked like an elite player.
Have been looking for ways to get him into my team. Will wait for another week, but Whitfield to Houston is a big chance.
