You can't upgrade everyone at the same schedule, as long as he's still playing games it should work out fine. You don't want him turning into Highmore where he gets dropped and youhave to trade him with minimal return on investment or hold him for half a season to get the payoff.
If he gets one nice 85+ score in a few weeks he'll spike quite nicely to make way for someone else as well.
