First draft attempt for me:

NBA RDT Draft 1.png

PG

Poole - Should get to ball hog to his little heart's content with Wizards.
Henderson - Think he's a big favourite for ROY, like Poole, should get to dominate the ball.
George - SG/PG DPP, I really rate him as a prospect, think he was the best value pick and has a good chance to win a starting role pretty early on.

Really like Haliburton if going premium here. Want to see how Irving impacts Doncic before going there. Don't like Dame or Booker having to share. Lamelo, Simmons, Cunningham, Schroeder, Murray, Simons and Jones pretty much the rest of my watchlist.

I think Scoot is the best rookie so have structured around that to start him, but that 2nd rookie PG is really lacking in options and may force my hand.

SG

SGA - I do think he could slide a little with Chet and ongoing development of others but he's durable and great and he works so hard he may just overcome the negatives by improving further. Plus it's fun to pick guys you like rooting for!

Edwards - Think he's primed for a big jump, carried Team USA at FIBA and just love him as a player.

Ausar Thompson - Think he's got a much better chance of big minutes than his brother but a bit of a crapshoot here, can just slide to the other if he's better or someone else.

Watchlist is pretty much the same guys I liked at PG with Bane added.

SF

Bridges - Think he could have a huge breakout season coming, it's his team and he's got the skills to be a star.

Banchero - Homer pick alert, but pretty similar to Bridges, so talented and will hopefully improve efficiencies, team should be starting to think playo*** now and has a good supporting cast of versatile types that should help him get matchups.

Miller - My 2nd favourite rookie pick. Should get very strong minutes and stuff the stat sheet but doesn't really have a standout skill to want to start him consistently.

Watchlist is big but it's a genuine "I want to watch them" list. Giannis with Dame, who's never had to really share before, Durant with Beal (ditto) but also terrible durability, Tatum with Porzingis and Holiday. Bron is high on the list but durability becoming an issue and he will age eventually, also if the team is decent, which they should be, he'll take a lot of games/minutes off to try and make the playo***. Barnes I really like and definitely considered over Banchero. Grant should put up numbers in Portland. I really like Keldon Johnson, but again not over Banchero. Also a sneaky RJ Barrett watch.

PF

Williamson - My big punt really, most others are pretty safe and durability has been an unintended focus so can take a risk. He looks fit and he seems to have rediscovered a love for the sport with all his extra curricular fails this o***eason. Will probably quote this stupidity to myself when he's shut down by week 3...

Holmgren - I'm going to pick the wrong starter between him and Wemby every week, that much I'm certain. He's a stud if he can stay on the court and will stuff the sheet.

Wemanyama - Not expecting much from him this season and expect them to control his minutes a fair bit as he's really not physically ready but he's an absurd talent and he'll have some very strong games still. Added bonus of Zion potentially weighing more than my other two PF's combined...

Davis durability an issue, considered Sabonis almost for the opposite reason, other guys all covered above.

C

Jokic - On the "player I like" bandwagon here. He's also a better player and more durable than Embiid or Davis.

Toppin - I think he gets a chance to start and I still rate him, Knicks aren't the mess they used to be but they're still the Knicks and getting out of there should help. Plenty of other options but I do like the PF/C DPP a lot here given Wemby and Chet, could also flip them there if a PF/SF type emerges as a better option.

Ayton, Sengun, Duren and Jabari Smith Jr all got strong looks if I wanted to go a super premium somewhere else, think all could jump into that 2nd tier of centers this year (high 20s range) but that's not enough for Ayton/Sengun, who are more likely to do it, and the other two it's borderline if it's enough and I have much less certainty of them doing it.

Rookies there are a fair few, ideally I want a DPP but will pick the guy with best pathway to points.

Game counts for the first 10 rounds and who plays who for the first 5 rounds ...

- lower case denotes a home game

Although no PG/SG dual position status, Dyson Daniels (New Orleans Pelicans) could be paired with Scoot Henderson to maximise the schedule in the opening six rounds at the second PG position= 3,4,4,4,4,4

Someone who does have that status and comes at approx $1 million cheaper is Payton Pritchard. Could see extended minutes this season and has a run of 4, 4, 4 between RD3 and RD5. Could be paired with Rose at SG for 3,4,4,4,4,4 over the first six rounds.

Have updated my spreadsheet for now ...

- basically it shows all players that averaged 20+ last year, games played and upcoming 5 round game counts ...
- early days yet but it should assist in team planning ..
- will add rookies and some value options in the coming week(s)
