I would be cautious starting too many players on two games as @Tails has alluded to. Doncic is fine since he has the ceiling to outscore anyone but it might be a bit safer to view Bridges and Banchero as trade in targets when their run of fours start if you want to try to maximise your score.

D’Angelo Russell is an interesting starting selection. What are your expectations for him? Are you extremely confident of him outperforming his price or is it more that you have no confidence in any players below his price range outperforming their price and thus representing any value? How long do you intend to hold him for or is the intention only for the first round? Have you mapped out any possible trades for Round 2 or are you expecting to make rookie corrections?

Russell pick is purely based on pre-season. (see how he shapes week 1)
Bridges/Banchero can be changed for Week 1 i guess. (Now got Bane and Maxey)
Maxey definite out Week 2 but Bane could stay.

First time playing. I think I'll target the fixtures hard. Every starter has a '3,4' to start other than SGA, Wemby and Chet who have a '3,3' to start. Round 2 trades likely to be rookie corrections and if I have a spare trade, then SGA to Doncic. The main starter spots still in the air are the mid-pricers at SG2 and SF2.

As for the bench, I'm not set on anyone. Not confident on any of the PF or C rookies other than Wemby and Chet so at this stage I've gone the popular options in Giles and Walker. The SG and SF bench spots is basically just picking 2 of Miller, Amen and Ausar. Not a lot of options for the PG3 spot. Thinking of going George then trading to Pritchard in round 3 when Pritchard's schedule gets good with three 4-game rounds in a row. Can start him in round 3 too when Scoot only plays the 2 games.

Not sure if this is the right place since I see a lot of Sportsdeck teams here, but I just finished my first draft for the year in Yahoo Fantasy Basketball.

9-cat league (so points, rebounds, assists, FG%, FT%, steals, blocks, turnovers, 3PTS).

Feel like I did okay here and taking a punt on Coulibaly will hopefully pay off.
Nicely done, drafting this year was so interesting. I had pick 7 and planned out the first three to four rounds with hopefuls and naturally wing the rest of it. Turned out alright from a fantasy perspective.

My 10-team league does 11 CAT with all the standard CATs and OREB, DREB and DD being the non-standard.

You and I will be keeping a close eye on Wagner and Coulibaly. Grabbed the latter off waivers today, hope he shines and becomes a starter there!

Really nice draft to be honest. I had Brunson last year and he crushed it for me.

I think Franz will be good this year. He didn't take much of a step up from his rookie year this year (other than FG%) but he was consistent and didn't regress so hopefully he'll get more usage.

Coulibaly I'm high on. He was not that impressive during the Summer League but has been damn good during preseason. I just hope the Wizards don't mess with rotations and give Kispert high minutes when you've got a guy like Coulibaly primed after a good preseason.

Good luck for the first week matchup.

Pre season does not matter for more experienced players and their stats could be inflated via increased usage, etc, if more of the other experienced players decide to sit out or the younger players receive more minutes. The only usefulness is for the rookies and young players and to possibly identify which will benefit this season from increased minutes, opportunities, etc.

Depends on your risk appetite, but I would prefer to avoid a player that is scheduled for a two next round, when others are scheduled for fours. Whilst it may not eventuate, I would prefer to plan for the worst case scenario such as multiple injuries, trades needing to be used to fix cash gen, etc and it could mean that trading Maxey is not prioritised over other scenarios and unfortunately held for the two. This might help to decrease your trade in options throughout the season or potentially avoid some bad situations.

NBA Fantasy i have just signed up too.
Wow. Daily deadlines and Captains every day.
You have 5 on court and 5 subs non scoring but you switch each day.
Big emphasis then on games a week.

Thanks mate, likewise to you! 🍻

The one pick I loathe is the Jarrett Allen pick. I'm kicking myself because Claxton was available, just don't understand how I missed that. But ah well.

And yeah definitely, I can see the hype with Coulibaly, the kid has a high motor. We have a lot riding on Wizards' ability to not make aimless decisions this year, the dream starter lineup is Tyus, Poole, Coulibaly, Kuzma and Gafford. All the best to us both 😅

What platform did you sign up to?

General fantasy game modes are Points leagues which is slightly similar to SC/RDT but much more simpler in that;
- high production/stat diversity = more points across a 13-man roster, all accumalative. So there's no 9 on field scorers plus a 5-man bench, it's all inclusive plus a couple of IR/IL (injury reserve) spots to store injured players.
- player pricing is uncommon and only appears in auction leagues, which is a specific league type.

My personal favourite is Category leagues which is much more fun and strategic. There's so much more I've left out because I think I've hijacked our NBA RDT thread enough with non-RDT related content haha

I'm keen to be a part of an SCS Yahoo Category league if there's enough interest here, just say the word and I'm in.

Normal type scoring like SC/RDT but you need to set your team up every day of a gameweek.
5 on court and 5 benched.
2 free transfers before each gameweek. (extra is -100 each)
1 wildcard chip.
Pricing is a lot stricter than RDT.

How interesting, I honestly had no idea NBA had their own in-house fantasy platform. I've always been on ESPN and Yahoo. I'm even considering signing up to Fantrax or Sleeper this year.

Back to RDT, my current roster below.

This seems to be one of the more common line ups, bar Booker. I'm not set on it, I'd love to jump onto a couple of POD picks to start the season.

When do player prices start to adjust? Round 3 just like AFL SC, or after 3 games like NBL SC?

I played their game 2 seasons ago where you had 3 teams if you wanted.
Pick 7 players but a normal gameweek deadline with one captain.
You had 2x triple captain chips too.
Sadly they did not do that format last season but have come back with a re-vamp.

After 3 games ...
