I have been doing some research on Andrew Brayshaw (615K) - really like him as a player, works hard both ways all game. Tag issues have been a concern but last year he improved in his ability to deal with it. Scores ranged from a monster 189 v saints to a low of 77. 13 x 100+ scores & 6 scores in the 90s so only 3 sub 90 scores out of 22.

23 years old, about to enter his prime & playing for a team on the rise that has 2 very good rucks feeding it's midfield in Darcy & Jackson.

Freo have a very nice start to the season, can see them winning their first 4 games to set their season up:-

Round 1 v Saints - scored 189 v them last year (Windhager played that game but obviously didn't tag him) 112 & 122 the previous 2.

Round 2 v North - scored 134 v them last year, 112 & 86 previous 2.

Round 3 v WCE - scored 96 v them (Redden run with role/ now retired), 121 & 102 previous 2.

Round 4 v Adelaide - scored 127 v them last year, 117 & 144 previous 2.

Last 13 scores at his home ground Optus Stadium :- 94, 134,104, 95, 96, 189, 93,190, 97, 92, 120, 121 & 112. Average of 118

Averaged 112 in AF (also 112 in SC), so was pretty ineffective/uncontested. Hard to see him getting any more ball than he already gets, so would need to pick up the effectiveness. As you said, tags are an issue (probably for the AF/SC ratio too)

Mundy out, JOM is pretty like for like in the midfield minutes replacement.

I'll probably consider him more for AF/RDT where 112 already has him as a top 2 MID.

Can he go 120+ SC this year? Personally I say no, but 115 would probably be fine. The tags were frustrating last year!

Yeh I like him and currently M4. I do like that he only turned 23 in November and has increased his average a little year on year.
You pointed out that he is learning to deal with the tags.
A bonus is his durability, with only two games missed that weren't the broken jaw year. One for suspension and the other a one week calf.

Currently M2 & locked and loaded.

Where can his improvement come from? A litany of ways as he's only played 100 games.

The one thing that I am unsure of from last year is whether he demonstrated that he could play through and score well with tags?

I recall someone posting that opposition coaches had released a couple of them, and I think some people (naturally) just read the SC scores and concluded that he’d broken them.

I think he's a solid premo pick this year and worthy of picking, just disagree with your prediction of winning their first 4 games, Windhager will restrict Brayshaw to sub 90 and the mighty Saints will win their first game of the year!...woohoo

The funny thing with Cripps is, he has twice averaged more than the 111 he went at last year - 117 and 119.

As a Carlton supporter I thought he was Brownlow standard in the first half of the year, then fell away a bit, except for the round 23 schemozzle. Apparently training really well and we should win more games.

Unlike some Chas winners, he doesn't have to maintain a ridiculously high average in the 130's to be a good pick. On the fence a bit here as to whether I pick him.

I usually like to start a 5 super-premo midfield, or a 4+1 balance where the one is a cheaper breakout/discounted premo pick.

I've got 4 such on the radar at the moment: LDU, Warner, Green and Mitchell. Any thoughts on how you'd rank them? And would people be bold enough to go 3+2 with guys from that lot (eg. Oliver, Touk, Steele + 2 type setup)?
My main structures are 3 or 4 super mids (Steele holding the rear) with Hopper at M4/M5.

Was initially keen on Parish and/or Merrett as decent POD options but the more I read and listen to about the change in style think we will have less of the handball happy team which helped Parish and Merrett get the disposals up.

As mentioned above by @Eagling think it really helps someone like a Redman, Ridley or even McGrath potentially.

I actually think that could help Merrett as he can work into space and get the uncontested marks as we work the ball around.

Counter argument would be mids could get a few more cheap marks and therefore kicks
