Definitely a chance. If he could kick I'd say it's probable but he was already elite in his counting stats so that lack of class is definitely not helping.

Needs to learn to milk the system ala a Danger, get more contested and kick long and high to contests more instead of trying to spear hard kicks that all go out of bounds on the full.

Personally think that GWS are still a very talented side, they will surprise many this year given Kingsley has already shown he will be playing his best players in their correct positions unlike Leon....

Ash to half back where he played as a junior & excelled
Whitfield to half back to provide the run & carry
Ward to the fwd line/ transitioned out of the midfield now

Yes Hopper & Taranto are real losses but GWS had a surplus of quality midfielders previously along with Leon adding Ash in there as a run with player when he is a very good half back (just one of many bizarre Leon moves)

Backing my boy to get very close to the 120 mark this year myself, endurance has really improved/ will run out games better this year.

Did Ash play HB last year at all? heat map suggested he was back against Carlton and Brisbane but didn't generate huge scores.

If we think Green can average 110, then the most likely scenario I see is that he has a fast start and averages 125 over the first 8 rounds before settling back to that 110 average for the season.

In that situation, should you start him? If you don't, will you be one of those trading him in before the decline?

Someone else on here said a few weeks back that hes the 3rd rebounding defender behind Whitfield & Cumming, which means he may have to play lockdown defender occasionally, which for me puts him behind Hopper & Setterfield for that M4-M5 slot.

Last season he went from 117 average after round 8 to 97 at seasons end, so not out of the question.

Id probably be one of the fools trading him in at his peak, so starting might be the smart move tor me.

I don't believe in 'must haves', they invariably disappoint, he is a fairly safe pick though, what would you do with the money if you don't take him? Callaghan could possibly average similar if he plays anything like he did in the pre-season hitout.

Yes, must have.

The one I am unsure on is Worpel. Should get the necessary midfield minutes to score 90+, but also appears to be in the secondary midfield rotation based on the recent preseason game.
