Think I'm pretty happy with this set up currently.
The rookies are still TBC and hoping we get at least one 102k bolter that can save me some coin.
Would love to go Mills - Touk but cash is the issue currently.

I'm keeping a close eye on Steele, Bowes and Fyfe and a few other mid pricers for their roles. If I feel I really need of a couple of those other mid pricers I'm thinking of dropping Jelly, swinging Roezee / Cogs into the middle and use Kelly to get a mid pricer and upgrade the likes of McKenna/ Ginbey if they aren't looking like R1 locks.

I've talked myself into the Grundy pick and currently still have Young over Daicos but I feel like that might change around by the eve of R1 when I get wary of the 40%+ ownership.

Any other thoughts?

Simply, I like him heaps. There is no certainty in this game, be boring if there was.
I love what he does, but he’s just to expensive to start for mine.

He's 28, has only averaged above 100 twice before last years 113 average and the next highest was a 105 in 2018. This screams outlier to me, it’s a wait and see and pencil him in as an upgrade target at this point.

Will be a very common structure come round 1 I think. Possible to fit Fyfe at F5 too if youre happy to shave some money out of a mid to a Mitchell/Green type if the rookies don’t come up.
It could be a sound structural change for most; personally I avoid players who are or will be 30+ during the H&A season so the change wouldn't be for me. The secondary factor would be the inherent difficulty in nailing a breakout mid (or hoping Titch goes back to old form).

Current version, liking the structure but is heavily dependent on the rookies falling a certain way.

Backs
Still not 100% on Stewart but was just short of Sicily. Bye is a obvious plus, as is his scoring history. Worry is the early draw away from GMHBA.. he’s in but not locked. Yep picks himself if he survives the preseason. The rest are largely place holders or early chatter picks.

Mids
Now that is some foursome! Lots of C options and they should be amongst the top mids. Hopper is value, Ashcroft looks great, and the rest are placeholders till we learn more.

Rucks
I think Grundy holds his price but see upside. I think he is the main ruck with Gawn more forward but also slotting in behind the play sometimes. Reckon Melbourne try to create some mismatches when Gawn starts ruck by getting him to drag his man into the forward line while Grundy pops out to take the around the ground ruck role. But think Grundy gets plenty of CBAs too. Just like the pick. Fully expect to have to trade Marshall at some point but think the potential is there to start strong.

Forwards
Going hard. Locking in 4 potential top line players and hoping the are season keepers. A bail out is there with Cogs/Taranto/Rozee sharing the last by so there is a sideways option there. Also think the trades and boosts mean an early correction is viable. Fyfe is a cash grab for the most part, but can see him being first out to get an early upgrade in.

Keen on any thoughts!

Jones at D3 😳

Like the structure & the rest of the team but not sure Jones at that spot. Can you squeeze Bowes in there instead?

Any reason for no McLean?

Going light down back could underwhelm but I think even if you pick the wrong guys theres going to be correction options.

Yeo,Clark,Haynes and Bowes are priced massively under their best footy.
Jones,Marchbank,Coffield,Goater,Ginbey,McKenna,Weddle should really all play Round 1 then theres the likes of Wilmot,Chesser,Dean,Cowan,Wagner who arent going to be far away at all if they miss the Round 1 nod, only going to need 3 or 4 to be reliable enough and we are set.

Haha Jones is really just a placeholder for cash in that spot. Depending on how the rookies how I’m hoping to have a little flex there, but do also have someone like Coffield to go down to.

I’m not sure I’m sold on Bowes tbh. Gives me Jordan Clarke vibes in how he doesn’t really have a locked position and could potentially a lot in across a few spots. Impression I get from the training reports is that they don’t know where they want to play him so he’s being moved around to try and find a fit. To me that screams risk, and wouldn’t be surprised to see him as the sub if he doesn’t find a set position. Preseason game will be crucial as I may not be reading that right, but I’d want to see something concrete before taking him at that price.

Version 3. Brought in Lachie Jones once I read he'll get midfield minutes, Dpp is handy too. I've also brought in Lachie Hunter, one of my faves, new team, recent premiership team, the position on a wing is all his. Could have gone Hopper at a 60k discount, but, I'm betting against the crowd again. Weddle on the bench is also a new addition.

You know, I've been looking at stats, forums, articles etc for SC/DT for over the last 10+ years of playing and for me nothing beats that simple gut feeling about players when drafting a team and trading throughout the season. That's the gate for me, can't say it's treated me too bad either.
Haha, I'm almost the exact opposite. I need to temper back "going with my gut" to only doing it on things I feel really strongly about, I'm pretty sure I'd end up with a spectacularly broken mess of a team if I went pure gut, be some insane structure with far too many breakout picks.

I'm generally right about breakout guys over a period of 3 years but I don't hit anywhere near often enough on the exact year to go for lots of them.

I think my hardest thing to do is not find contrarian options, every year the group think has to talk me into Dunkley (for once I'm in!), I couldn't take Sicily last year and then doubled and tripled down on it in season, not even because I didn't rate him I thought he was a great pick but he was too popular and that was the hill I not only died on but was flayed and paraded about in shame on! I can distinctly remember Goldy ruining me in 2015 for the same reason, Macrae got me once as a forward. I need the groupthink to realise how damaging those guys are to not start! Even last year, starting Miller over Macrae probably cost me 1000 positions, which hurts even more because at round 23 I actually was right on who scored more but I was oh so wrong overall and the damage was all done by round 8

Why do we do this again?

Two L. Jones would get confusing to me (even though they are different teams). :)

It's different, as expected. I guess it'll work out for you one day.

Too bigger gap between the best and worst of Lachie Jones at the moment, do wonder if the likes of Duursma and Sinn go past him if they have any luck with their bodies.

Port probably have 5 or 6 blokes fighting for the last 2 spots in the 22 and I'd have Jones in that group.

The DEF Line was starting to look crazy, Fyfe ownership increasing. Diacos not included yet but with his ownership i think its a defensive play i need to consider. So thinking one of the UBERS will drop out to make way for Diacos. OR massive POD play by not starting him. This DEF line just give me more confidence. Yeo at D4 just looks better.

Do the MIDS look a bit week?, with Green at M4, this years break out. No Oliver Touk Laird. Is this too risky.?

Grundy and Marshall LOCKED

Had to include Fyfe, if he is fit for RD1 i expect ownership to push 70% another defensive play. Cogs could become JHF or Rozee or Butters. This can to free up some cash to get a Oliver / Touk Uber. Brayshaw would be the one to make way, but i like his start this year and can rack up the points real quick.

If the expected injuries to Yeo or Fyfe occur, i can see some replacements available that will not upset the starting structure too much.

ROOKS just place holders.

What could possible go wrong.??

Waiting , waiting , waiting

39 days out and it looks very cookie cutter & lame

DOCHERTY , Daicos , Yeo , Bowes , Goater * , Francis * + 2

LAIRD , OLIVER , MILLER , BONT , Hopper , Ashcroft , Bytel , Phillips + 3

GRUNDY , MARSHALL + 1

DUNKLEY * , ROZEE * , TARANTO * , Fyfe , Allen , Daniels + 2

8 $ 123,900.00 Neville Nobodies on the bench.

$ 1,000.00 in the Bank

D5 , D6 & Bytel likely to change once teams drop

10 keepers/premiums
a Daicos
4 stepping stones
7 cash grabs/rookies
Probably need to change Touk - > Green and lose Bowes to make it a more realistic bench

DOCHERTY , Daicos , Yeo , Goater * , Francis * , Cole / Ginbey * , McKenna

LAIRD , OLIVER , BONT , Green , Hopper , Ashcroft , McLean * , Phillips / Bytel (?) , $ 123,900.00 , $ 123,900.00

GRUNDY , MARSHALL / Madden *

DUNKLEY * , ROZEE * , TARANTO * , Fyfe * , Allen , Daniels / King , Bruce

$ 9,800.00 in the Bank

Much easier to adjust the bench downwards when we get clarity on the Round 1 rookies
