"Now have Ashcroft M9 & McLean M10"

Why?
Round 1 - 8 fixture , might be able to place the E on him and run a mid 🍩.

Nah was just playing around with some options and ran out of room for both of them onfield.

Hopefully Smith & Treloar are right for Round 1 so we no wear McLean fits into Bevo's magnets.

If McLean can come in for a final coming from a mile back and play well hes surely going to be best 22 when hes had a full pre season.

Think this structure that I’ve stumbled upon is the most realistic version I’ve found.

Def: Dawson, Yeo, Bowes, Goater, Ginbey, McKenna (Wilmer, Cowan)
Mid: Laird, Oliver, Miller, Bont, Hopper, Ashcroft, McLean, Phillips (Johnson, Baker, Chesser)
Ruc: Grundy, Marshall (Madden)
Fwd: Dunkley, Cogs, Rozee, Taranto, Ziebell, Bruce (van Rooyen, Comben)

Forward and even mid rookies looking to be few and far between at this early stage.
One of the better teams I've seen.

Yes you would think that would be the case , extremely talented footballer , hopefully he gets a clear run at it
Would have thought hed be just about a lock on the wing and floats onto the ball post stoppage, that was essentially his role in the EF and he'd have been in their top 10 players for the night pretty comfortably.

My memory is fading.

Who is there other winger ? thought I read Baker was going to play 1 wing.

R Smith named one wing for the final.

Forgot Hunter has gone

Surely they need to play Bazkenka inside until he learns to kick properly.

I guess these days teams are rotating 3-4 in any case.

Dale & Richards back , did Williams move to a wing ? is JJ still in the equation ? Daniels training with the mids

I better start researching teams best 22's or 23's

I had very similar to this not that long ago before I started to try find ways to fit all the mid pricers in, Grundy I'm very meh on but it might just be the position where we have to save a little bit of coin to pay up for the big 4 mids.
Yeah agree with Grundy, it’ll either be taking Dawson down to a Redman, Daicos or Young type and spending the extra $$$’s on upgrading Grundy but it’s impossible to think of who though.

I like this but I also don't like it for some reason 😄

Maybe the 3 speculative mids (M4-M6) is too much like backing multiple horses in a race in the hope that one of them wins: Overall you've probably still lost.

They could become Oliver + Touk + Rookie instead?

Agree with your thoughts about M4-M6. The question I ask is do you see all of them hitting 115 for the season? If yes then run with it, if no, then maybe pick one and get an Oliver/Touk with the other 2?

Will this change the fabric of those teams going with the Draper R2 experiment. Or will you simply cut your cloth slightly differently?

Wright did not participate, Bryan off at half time, so not sure who did the rucking. Phillips I assume.

Just way too much risk attached with Draper/ too speculative & at his price point there are no real bailout options (maybe Lycett at 30K more) so would need to double trade really to find a decent option & then you run the risk of that ruck getting injured (like last year when so many rucks missed games).
Personally I keep coming back to Grundy as my 2nd ruck (Marshall locked as my other ruck) at his price/ past history despite the unknown of how Gawn hurts his scoring. I think Gawn will be eased into the season/ spend more time fwd & Grundy will be highly motivated at a new club. We saw how well both NN & Cox scored in the same team previously, 2 very different type of rucks which is the same case with Grundy & Gawn. Surely the dees play to their strengths to take advantage of their unique situation now - they recruited Grundy for a reason when Jackson left so they obviously have a plan in place to best use their 2 star big men.

Agree about Draper, not worth the risk this season, I just hope the Demons' plan isn't to have Gawn and Grundy rucking at 50% each.
How much do you think Jackson could average this year?, I'm considering him.

Is 115 really the bar we are setting for a successful pick?

Only 6 mids averaged more than that last year (not counting Bont with DPP), only 4 of those played 22 games.

Brayshaw and Petracca were the 7th and 8th best mids on aggregate and averaged 111.8 and 112.4 respectively.

If a starting mid priced $500-$550k plays 22 games @ 110, I'm calling that a win.
