First draft, slapped it together, no research done yet. I know there'll be a couple of midpricers I could drop. And there's heaps I want that are not in there yet.

Francis the breakout player!!

Love seeing the beginning mate, and intrigued to see how it will evolve.

@Erich1036 no doubt the inspiration behind the Nick Haynes selection (just kidding Jim😂)

All good Andrew, had Haynes in previous years, had a shocker last year, hopefully shows some improvement in the pre-season.
Was just a gag mate. We saw a fair bit of Nick Haynes in a profile pic over the BBL journey;)

He could be a differential option to the popular mid-priced options in and around his price. Preseason to unveil all the info you will need.

And you are just the differentials type of player to have a crack at some of these options, where many semi-straight bat players like myself wouldn't go.

I hear you sort of.

We are all in the same boat and we all have more trades now. Which means you have to punt perceived role changes off 1 set of data in a starting team, and then perhaps go again with a couple of trades on anything you have missed.

Depends how brave you want to play it. The game is evolving and you just have to evolve with it.

Going into this year with a bit of a different strategy to my starting team. Lots of mid-pricers and expensive rookies.

I think lots of the premo defenders are good downgrade options this year due to their high prices, so I've gone for a bit of value there. Bowes is the one I'm least confident on.

I've gone 4 uber premos in the midfield. I don't really like many of those 500-550k picks, the only one who I see maybe finishing top 8 is Mitchell. I have Worpel in there at the moment but that could change at any time.

The rucks are obviously a bit up in the air. Nothing settled there at all. I have Grundy and Marshall in this draft. Witts and Lycett are the others I'm most keen on.

I really like the amount of value options in the forward line this year. I've seen a bit of talk around Flanders getting more mid time so he's in there for now. Phillipou could easily become a King or Bruce.

In this draft I have:
9 Premos - (Docherty, Oliver, Neale, Touk, Bont, Grundy, Marshall, Dunkley, Taranto)
2 Speculatives - (Redman, Richards)
6 Mid-Pricers - (Yeo, Bowes, Hopper, Worpel, Flanders, Allen)
5 Rookies - (Ginbey, Ashcroft, Phillips, McLean, Phillipou)

Fire away!

Pretty good effort. I’d take Madden as the ruck donut as he is R/F, Cameron most likely ends up on the Fwd line at some point for a better ruck and then he can swap Cameron back to ruck line with Madden for cover if needed. Probably needs a few more $’s left over for rookies. Maybe take Jones out from the backline for cash and push Wagner to Def line instead and have a few $’s left to pick more expensive rookies if needed. Or remove Windhager and push Dunkley/Sinn Fwd for a rookie.

Here is my current team:
Def - Sicily, Docherty, Young and Yeo
  • Sicily - isn't cheap or offers much growth in terms of cost, rock solid performer in a young team
  • Docherty - proven performer who is the chief of the backline
  • Young - Hoping he takes the next step
  • Yeo - Bargain buy from Best N Less
Mid - Oliver, Miller, Anderson, Green and Hopper
  • Oliver - proven performer who is a Captain option
  • Miller - proven performer who is a Captain option plus a great bye round
  • Anderson - Hoping he takes the next step
  • Green - Hoping he takes the next step
  • Hopper - Been playing in the midfield that is why he was recruited.
Ruck - Witts and Draper
  • Witts - Premium Ruck with the least amount of queries against him plus a great bye round
  • Draper - has to improve someday, so banking this is the season and very cheap.
Fwd - Dunkley, Rozee, Taranto and Fyfe
  • Dunkley - proven performer who I expect this will be his last year as DPP
  • Rozee - Hoping he takes the next step
  • Taranto - Midfield goliath who has been blitzing the time trials, Dimma likes players who run both ways expect him to be camped in the midfield.
  • Fyfe - While I expect a 70/30 split between forwards and midfield, if he stays fit he can score. He might need new kicking boots.
Balance - $36,800

As an Eagles fan, I can’t see Trew getting a game.
