Slim pickings this week. What's the consensus on Dylan Williams' JS? Came in in round 4 with Lachie Jones (Omitted), Orazio Fantasia (Injured), Riley Bonner (Omitted) and Tom Clurey (Omitted) the outs. Good to see he then held his spot with Ryan Burton coming back in but there'd have to be some pressure there. 64 and 51 isn't exactly shooting the lights out either.

Tempted to go a week early on SMitch for the DEF/FOR
Plenty of options this week Wheedus!! :sneaky:

Williams JS seems ok at the moment, DBJ is playing forward and seems will in the short-medium term. Bergman played backline this week but I feel they'll move him to the wing before they drop Williams. (if they wanted one of Clurey/Bonner/Jonas back in the team)

Not sure on Scrimshaw's injury (who seems the obvious replacement for SMitch) - definitely don't see SMitch having any better JS than Williams, so I guess it's how important the DEF/FWD status is to you. Williams will get DEF/FWD status in Round 12 too.

As many have mentioned, I like both Johnson and Roberts as well. Sub risks (seems most rookies are this year!) but we'll know before this week at least and both have a nice score in rotation now.

MJ would be a slow burn but is a quality player and has the height that Freo needs through the mids. Roberts obviously the standout but JS would be super shaky.

Not too worried about SMitch's JS in the long term as he'll be a useful DEF / FOR floating donut

Can any of us afford to be too picky with the downgrade options coming through?

Have edited since last update to remove some irrelevant/LTI players.

Interesting to see that the available R1 forward rookie priced players are tracking along nicely when 'most' were stacking that line for fear of that 'dead' forward rookies.

Hindsight would have me starting with a forward line of: Sheezle, Owens, Allen, Chandler, Phillipou, Long | Greene, Caminiti with Davey in the MIDs! :)

Just a selection of the more popular Rookies to guide your assessment of when is the right time to trade.

Some notes to take into account when viewing the table/chart...
  • 'Peak Price' is the price that players will track towards if they continue at their current average (excluding injury affected score, for example, Jones' 5 in the first round and/or early SI/SO, for example Mackenzie).
  • 'Green' means still cash to be made
  • 'Blue' means no rush to trade out
  • 'Orange' means okay to trade out
  • 'Red' means consider trading out

Seeking observation/comment from people in the know on the following to help with my decision making for R6, I've included mine FWIW.
  • M Roberts (SYD) - Being 23rd man for the opening 3 rounds shows that he's on the cusp; dropped completely with the return of Fox; returned for a full game last round after a spate of forced injury OUTs (3 KPD's and 1 KPF). Amartey now injured and Gould made an appearance as sub. Buddy can come in for Amartey, one of Rampe/TMcCartin likely to replace Gould but if both were to be fit, he should still be ahead of young Warner on the pecking order. Gut feel is he should at least get 1 more game, and selection beyond that will be form dependent. Role may become a bit hard to predict and still a risk of being sub.
  • M Johnson (FRE) - Similar to Roberts above, starting sub for 2 rounds before getting a full game last round. Came on for Chapman who's now injured and NOD who's now omitted. Rewarded with a full game alongside Sturt, Federick & Wagner replacing Henry, Wilson, NOD (all omitted) & the injured Taberner. Note that Switkowski was subbed out early last game with an injury. Looking at their 22 last round, there should be a spot for him in the short term. The fact that he can play multiple roles (forward, wing, mid) is probably advantageous to his prospects. Role may be uncertain but maybe keep his spot if Dockers continue to win.
  • D Williams (PTA) - What I do know is that he's a forward in SC playing as a defender, we know how the story goes from there. His 77%TOG bodes well for a Rookie and Port are undefeated with him in the team. Came into the team as part of a big shake up after their Derby loss which saw Clurey, Jones, Bonner & DBJ all omitted. DBJ came on as sub in R4 to play forward which continued last round. Burton came back from suspension to replace the injured Jonas last round. Does he go out if Jonas if fit or do they shuffle the deck with DBJ/Jones/Bonner...?

I like how Dylan Williams got a full game even though Port only had Orazio & Jonas unavailable last week. Shows how highly rated he is with basically a full list.

It would only take a few more injuries and suddenly his JS could become quite solid.

Good rookie performances in the VFL/WAFL:
Alex Cincotta (102k DEF/MID) had 37 disposals (25 kicks) to go with 8 marks and 4 tackles for Carlton VFL.
Jaxon Binns (117k MID/FWD) had 30 disposals (21 kicks) to go with 11 marks (HB role?) for Carlton VFL.
Sam Durdin (188k DEF) had 26 disposals (18 kicks) along with 16 marks for Carlton VFL.
Deven Robertson (202k MID) had 26 disposals (18 kicks), 5 marks, 4 tackles and 2.0 for Brisbane VFL.
Aaron Francis (189k DEF/FWD) had 8 disposals (all kicks) with 7 marks to kick 3.0 for Sydney VFL.
Miller Bergman (165k DEF) had 26 disposals (16 kicks) to go with 9 marks for North Melbourne VFL.
Eddie Ford (123k FWD) had 23 disposals (11 kicks) with 7 marks and 0.1 for North Melbourne VFL.
Oliver Dempsey (148k FWD) had 23 disposals (11 kicks), 3 tackles and 1.0 for Geelong VFL.
Josh Weddle (130k DEF) had 21 disposals (9 kicks) and 4 marks for Box Hill.
Max Ramsden (123k RUC/FWD) had 13 disposals (8 kicks) along with 6 marks, 8 hitouts and 4.1 for Box Hill.
Finlay Macrae (123k MID/FWD) had 29 disposals (16 kicks) and 9 tackles for Collingwood VFL.
Jack Peris (123k MID/FWD) had 13 disposals (4 kicks), 8 tackles and 2.1 for Sandringham.
Patrick Voss (123k FWD) had 14 disposals (9 kicks), 4 marks, 2 tackles and 2.0 for Essendon VFL.
Bailey Laurie (123k MID/FWD) had 33 disposals (16 kicks) and 0.2 for Casey.
Taj Woewodin (123k MID/FWD) had 23 disposals (11 kicks), 3 marks, 3 tackles and 0.1 for Casey.
Coby Burgiel (117k MID/FWD) had 22 disposals (17 kicks), 3 marks and a tackle for West Coast WAFL.
Karl Worner (123k DEF/MID) had 30 disposals (18 kicks) along with 8 marks and 2 tackles for Peel Thunder.
Sebit Kuek (123k FWD) had 14 disposals (10 kicks), 4 marks and 4.1 for Peel Thunder.

GWS, Gold Coast, Footscray, Adelaide and Port Adelaide all had byes.

Hard to see many rookies coming through which is extremely worrying and is why I’m not upgrading this week. Going to need a few LTI’s to AFL regulars for the rookies to come through I think.
Jaxon Binns play on the wing with elite endurance and a ball magnet, disposal not the best.

Has had two big games in a row in the VFL Can see him coming in at some point when Hollands needs a rest

Good rookie performances in the VFL/WAFL/SANFL:
James Tunstill (187k MID, BRL) had 32 disposals (20 kicks), 5 marks and 1.1. No tackles so likely a wing role.
Deven Robertson (202k MID, BRL) had 29 disposals (13 kicks), 4 marks, 9 tackles and 1.1. He has 0 and a -1 in his price cycle to give him a BE of 118 so might drop to a nice price.
Kai Lohmann (146k FWD, BRL) had 22 disposals (16 kicks), 5 marks, 4 tackles and 1.1.
Harry Sharp (123k MID, BRL) had 18 disposals (10 kicks), 3 marks, 1 tackle and 1.1.
Jaxon Binns (117k MID/FWD, CAR) had 29 disposals (25 kicks) 10 marks, no tackles and 1.0. Yet another good performance for Binns. Still find it hard to see him playing wing ahead of Acres, Hollands and LOB at AFL level. Might play forward if he gets a game?
Lachie Fogarty (167k MID/FWD, CAR) had 28 disposals (15 kicks), 9 marks, 6 tackles and 0.1.
Edward Allan (126k MID, COL) had 18 disposals (11 kicks), 5 marks and 7 tackles.
Reef McInnes (165k FWD, COL) had 10 disposals (8 kicks), 4 marks, 4 tackles and 3.2.
Karl Worner (123k DEF/MID, FRE) had 21 disposals (15 kicks), 3 marks and 6 tackles.
Charlie Constable (123k DEF/MID, GCS) had 29 disposals (21 kicks), 8 marks and 3 tackles. Another good performance for him. Good to see a few tackles too.
Connor Blakely (123k MID, GCS) had 24 disposals (12 kicks), 4 marks and 3 tackles.
Thomas Berry (123k FWD, GCS) had 23 disposals (11 kicks), 4 marks, 3 tackles and 1.0.
Oskar Faulkhead (123k MID/FWD, GCS) had 18 disposals (8 kicks), 5 marks, 4 tackles and 2.2.
Brodie McLaughlin (102k FWD, GCS) had 17 disposals (9 kicks), 8 marks, 3 tackles, 2 HO, 4.2.
James Tsitas (123k MID/FWD, GCS) had 16 disposals (11 kicks), 8 marks, 2 tackles and 3.0.
Wade Derksen (123k FWD, GWS) had 24 disposals (13 kicks), 4 marks, 4 tackles, 12 HO and 0.1.
Cameron Fleeton (123k DEF, GWS) had 23 disposals (13 kicks), 8 marks and 2 tackles.
Jason Gillbee (102k DEF/MID, GWS) had 20 disposals (15 kicks), 3 marks and 1 tackle.
Jack O’Sullivan (117k FWD, HAW) had 27 disposals (16 kicks), 7 marks, 1 tackle and 1.3.
Josh Weddle (130k DEF, HAW) had 27 disposals (18 kicks), 10 marks and 2 tackles.
Max Ramsden (123k RUC/FWD, HAW) had 11 disposals (6 kicks), 6 marks, 1 tackle, 12 HO and 2.2.
Taj Woewodin (123k MID/FWD, MEL) had 22 disposals (12 kicks), 2 marks, 2 tackles and 0.1.
George Wardlaw (193k MID, NTH) had 23 disposals (10 kicks), 3 marks and 8 tackles. Must be getting close.
Blake Drury (102k MID/FWD, NTH) had 19 disposals (9 kicks), 6 marks, 2 tackles and 2.0.
Hamish Free (102k RUC, NTH) had 17 disposals (10 kicks), 2 marks, 1 tackle, 30 HO and 1.0.
Francis Evans (136k FWD, PTA) had 18 disposals (14 kicks), 5 marks, 3 tackles and 2.1.
Jacob Bauer (123k FWD, RIC) had 21 disposals (17 kicks), 5 marks and no tackles.
Sam Banks (123k DEF/MID, RIC) had 19 disposals (14 kicks), 4 marks and 3 tackles.
Jack Bytel (160k MID, STK) had 39 disposals (20 kicks), 3 marks, 4 tackles and 0.1. Next highest possession getter for Sandringham was 23.
Leo Connolly (123k DEF, STK) had 21 disposals (9 kicks), 3 marks, 1 tackle and 0.1.
Jack Peris (123k MID/FWD, STK) had 17 disposals (9 kicks), 4 marks, 5 tackles and 1.0.
Angus Sheldrick (165k MID/FWD, SYD) had 39 disposals (19 kicks), 6 marks, 7 tackles and 2.0. Might come in for Roberts?
Corey Warner (123k MID/FWD, SYD) had 23 disposals (14 kicks), 2 marks, 3 tackles and 0.1.
Cooper Vickery (117k DEF, SYD) has 18 disposals (13 kicks), 5 marks, 1 tackles and 1.1.
Hugo Hall-Kahan (123k FWD, SYD) had 14 disposals (11 kicks), 5 marks, 6 tackles and 2.2.

At least Constable is still racking up good numbers in the VFL, hopefully he gets a recall soon 🤞
Powell taken his spot, was a sneaky chance when they performed a concussion test on Powell on Sunday but he ended getting back on field…

hope we get to see Constable soon, still cash to be made if he gets even one or two more games with a breakeven of -52

Getting real Tom Highmore vibes from this pick. If he plays through the byes like Highmore did I'll call it a win!
