There seem to be a lot of defenders in that list. It’s likely that teams put some of their best kickers behind the ball, but I wonder if the level of pressure on the kick has been accurately reflected.
Also much easier to hit a target going out of the back 50 as the ground opens up rather than going forward of centre as the ground narrows.

Starting to wrap my head around AFL SC.. great to see there has been so much discussion and teams picked!

I was having a bit of a thinking about the ruck situation at the Dees with Gawn and Grundy. Heard a lot of speculation that Melbourne will look at a strategy similar to what Geelong did (using Stanley, Blitz, etc). Basically have Gawn take majority of centre bounces then push back to play a sweeper "kick behind the ball" role, while Grundy starts forward and then pushes up to take all ruck work around the ground (mid/forward, Gawn likely taking it down back). Has anyone heard much similar to this?

If it pans out this way, there is a strong chance Grundy gets FWD status in round 6 which would make him super attractive.. but less so if it is more of a traditional ruck/forward share role between them.

And on the other side, there is a ton of contested mids being the least effective

I think given Grundy is discounted he is worth starting regardless. Will still play enough ruck to average around a 100. And then get R/F status. So can move him forward and get in whoever is standing out …
currently have Grundy : Cameron

Lever and May down back patroling the air. Reckon Max is more chance of FWD status RD6. For mind one on the best overhead marks in the game and will be deployed as an outlet down the line against the smaller wingmen and block the line in the FWD 50. For a big unit has a huge tank not many talls can match.

Grundy is limited, great tap ruckman and has oliver tracca and viney at his feet. Reckon he does most of the CBA and stoppages.

What are the odds on the Beard winning the coleman.?

Did Rozee see more midfield minutes due to Butters being bashed from pillar to post last season? IIRC Butters started as the prefered mid of the 2 but took some big hits giving Rozee more mid time. Am I wrong there.
Rozee got more mid time at the back end that Butters ever had for the year. For me Rozee is third only to Dunkley and Hopper as the biggest lock there is

Heard from someone that spoke to Luke Ryan and also across bigfooty boards and ostensibly visible from training photos that Young is playing wing at practice atm. You’d think it would be a dual role of wing and HB with Aish and NOD in the side but something to monitor

Had Young in myself but have tentatively switched him to Cumming who I like as a pick with HH playing forward , will switch back if it turns out not to be the case

What are people thinking about having Fyfe? I'm conflicted as I know he will probably need to be traded out at some stage so possibly wasting a trade however he has great upside if he can stay on the park? He's in my side at the moment.

My other option is not taking Fyfe and get in a possible keeper by getting rid of Fyfe/Tarryn Thomas for a rookie and $500k keeper like Taranto or Grundy/Marshall in ruck with English at R1?

Even a 80% fit fyfe plays, where is his position? I think his midfield days are over, like dusty plays predominantly as a fwd with stints in the mid with nearly 100% chance of getting injured. His a no for me atm.

Not much talk on the Hawks new recruit Meeks.? Nicely priced if he gets more time over Reeves.

Also any tiger fans out than provide intel on Narkle, coulDnt break into the mids at the Cats, Is he any chance at best 22 at tigerland.?

He's in my squad at the moment, if he doesn't look 100% before game 1 I'll probably swap him for Tarryn Thomas or a rookie.

Soooo tempting and sooooo risky. Where do you go if he get injured 2 or 3rd round and misses a month downgrade to a rookie.

FREO should push for finals this year, the club will want the big man fresh healthy and firing.

Sooooooo risky.

This is why he is so tempting & can now be picked as a fwd :-

Injury risk is real, but his scoring potential is undeniable. I think he will be part of the midfield rotations myself, a guy who is such a contested ball winning beast will not be parked fwd for the majority of the game.

They've added Jaegar to what was an already strong midfield, don't think he'll spend a heap of time in the mids myself unless there's a few injuries.

You need to update your signature for the new year BTW. :)

Mundy retired & Acres gone - just think they will use his big body at times to help Brayshaw & Serong out. Maybe him & JOM rotate.

Re sig for new year, haven’t decided yet … Butters let me down last year being so injured 😜

He is just training with them atm. Dont see where he gets a game, when the likes of jack graham and ross will be struggling to play in our best 22.
