I would like to thank those who have provided advice on the 2 previous teams that I have posted.
I have taken onboard those comments & have now amended my side to the one copied below.
Basically I have dropped both Fyfe, Cunnington & Hopper which has allowed me to add another premo defender (Docherty) at the expense of either Lloyd or Dale.
It has also allowed me to replace Hopper with Bont - this gives me an additional Capt/VC option
I have moved Cameron from R2 to the F3 & replaced him with Marshall.
Himmelberg is currently a placeholder until it becomes clear if he will be playing Defence or Fwd. If necessary I will just replace him with another $500K player.
Let me know what you think about how this new team stacks up.

I like it. 13 if not 14 keepers made me count that twice! I guess the question with this team is- having 2 forward rookies, 2 defence rookies and the 3 mid rookies albeit ashcroft will be in most teams score more points than a team with say 11-12 keepers and midpricers so barely any rookies are on field?
As far as a guns and rookies side goes this is good mate and just nail those rookies that you have to field in this team and you will go well.
I'm leaning towards less prems and rookies and more midpricers this season myself as last few seasons this has been the way to go especially for early points.

Guess I will share my current side- I'm a tweaker so this probably isn't my best line up I've made.
Daicos for me too with that one - going to be such a good footy player. Actually he already is such a good player! I think i mean will have a great career - will be great for SC too i'm just hoping we don't lose him in DEF in the years going forward.

Well figured that I'd might share my current line up. I am a tinkerer and its all i can do until we know which rookies to pick and how many we could field in each line - rookies dictate structure and you just have to not be stubborn and select the premo's around them no matter how attached you get to some premos/midpricers. Currently i'm just trying to make a team with barely any rookies on field that i dont think get a game. Players that are rookie priced like King, Bruce, mclean are nailed on and hopefully have less of a sub risk and more job security. My bench only has 1 rookies @ 117k, have ratugolea and phillips on the bench on purpose trying to make a team in case we have to pick more expensive rookies. If Ratugolea lines up in defence would rather him than a 102 floating donut personally, I know that I could cheap out some rookies and upgrade a midpricer to a premo.

Balance - $4,100
Defence - 3 premiums and Bowes
I consider Stewart, Docherty and Dawson a stable base and best 22 in their respective teams as well as offering some value.
This means 2 rookies on the field which is what I am comfortable with.
Midfield - 2 premiums, 2 mid-pricers and Hopper
This is where I have gone a bit lite compared to other teams, however, I wanted to sure up my Def/Fwd.
I have 2 captain options in Oliver and Macrae with Green and Rozee as my mid-pricers who offer growth potential.
Ruck - 1 premium and 1 mid-pricer
Witts while expensive offers the most reliable scoring option as he only has Chol as competition and Witts is another Captain option.
I have gone Marshall as the other ruck, as he has growth in his price, he may play forward while King is missing and at worst, he keeps his value but maybe eligible for Ruck\Fwd
Forward - 2 premium with 1 Ruck DPP and Fyfe
I have chosen Cameron as a link with the Rucks and Rozee can be swung swapped with Fyfe from the midfield.
Fyfe will then be used for upgrading inconjuction with Hopper.
I have chosen 2 rookie priced fowards in D5 and D6, which may not score as fast as other options, they are best 22 for their teams and have job security.

As my name suggests, I have a tendency to use my trades unwisely.
My private league always finishes in the top 300 leagues every year. Because we are all good mates, we tend to hang a lot of S..t on each other. So in past seasons, I have tended to trade out players just to chase the round win rather than thinking strategically. It’s probably more about ego than sensibility.
In my league you basically need to win around 9 - 10 games to make the top 8 (finals).
So, rather than chase the win every week I am going to be prepared to lose rather than trade out a player who is injured (unless it is long term) or a premo who has had a drop off in form.
EG, Case in point from last year - Coniglio, English, Gawn.
Also, rather than doing a sideways trade for a non playing/performing rookie, I will be more patient.
Based on my current side I hopefully have 13 genuine keepers plus Himmelberg or similar - this makes 14.
That means I will need 8 more premos to complete my side.
I am allocating 22 trades for rookie upgrades to get these extra 8 premos. That should be more than enough.
I am allocating 6 trades for long term injuries
This would leave me with 7 trades for the finals.
I feel this is achievable so long as I don’t chase wins just to beat a mate. Obviously it is important to get off to a good start so that I am not behind the 8 ball. That is why I plan on having a very strong midfield & defense from the get go with a range of Capt/VC options.
Obviously, picking the right starting rookies is probably the most important thing & as each club organizes their preseason games against each other this will tell us more about which rookies are firing and likely to get a game in R1. In this regard we all tend to find most of the same players.
