Childbirth, injury, personal leave, resting players, reduced playing time, etc. it is time for Sportsdeck NBA to introduce a Flex next season to improve the level of competitiveness in the league.
I would like to propose that if your bench player outscores your on-court player in the same position (for whatever reason) that your bench players score is counted instead of the on-court player.

I'd like if the emergencies filled lost games instead of requiring the entire round to be lost.
So for example, Ball misses 3 games, then your emergency fills in 3 scores or however many they play with lowest used first through to highest.
You could even expand it to be that each slot gets 4 games in a week (on field with 5+ would fill highest to lowest) so that you can actually pick some of the breakout guys as starting picks without sacrificing your season.
Means there's actually some value to the bench spots outside cash generation and would mean that you at least have a chance of covering the inevitable missed games. Achieves it without needing daily changes or anything like that.
I've now confirmed the scores for all the players that I track ...
- I had manually calculated all of them in advance and can't see any gremlins left now ...
