As a Spurs supporter I just fail to understand how the GK rolling the ball out to a defender 10m sideways or doing a little dinky pass in the box when there is an opposition player nearby has any value. That first goal was a direct result of this tactic. Even worse is when the GK passes the ball to a defender who is facing him and is directly in front of goal. The defender has no idea where the opposition players are as he has his back to most of them. Opposition teams expect us to do this and are anticipating the pass, putting the defenders under unnecessary pressure. I get that if you can work the ball through the press you have less of the opposition defense to deal with further up the pitch but we have a team decimated by injury, guys who have hardly played with each other, and a number 3 GK. In our current circumstances I would rather have the ball kicked long and lose possession in a 50/50 contest in the oppositions half of the ground than gift it to them 25m from our goal. It is just nuts.

Doesn't seem like Postenotgotaclue understands this.

Old saying about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result equalling insanity.

That's not what I was saying. I meant having Pool players on field and bench players from Wolves or Forest, using them as a loop.

The VC loop is only effective if the score is good enough that you wouldn't take Salah on as C
Yeh I know what you're saying with only one game behind them. I'll be trading in VVD if the loop is there from a bench score prior to their game. They will just be turned into a bye player before the last game and can buy them anytime before that final game.

There is a great Interview with Joe Hart on playing out from the back and what that means. I'd recommend giving it a watch. I don't think Spurs have the cattle for that at the moment.

Honestly I think with Ange and his philosophy at the moment its some short term pain for some long term gain. If you choose to take short cuts now, you will always be taking short cuts.
