With 29 of the 40 starting at rookie prices (shaded blue using Reid as the cut off point) I think there is relevance in the conventional wisdom that rookies provide the best bang for buck wrt cash generation.

As you said, where those rookies come from may be changing.

Absolutely, starting price is a major factor. Many of the other 11 were below 250k, and those above that level have largely been full breakouts and have become viable keepers.

I usually prefer a mature aged rookie priced player over a new draftee, but didn’t notice as much discussion of them this preseason.
