Yeh the trade window doesn't show eliminated players to help out selection from the pool.

Most teams probably have a couple from eliminated teams already

You need to look up the player on the player stats page, not in the trade page. Then select the player so their summary page opens. You can then choose from where it says “compare”, “watch list” or “trade in”.

Just with choosing non playing players, when will they show as not playing, for instance to gain the VC score. Hope they're not going to count in some way.

It should be the last game. The players on the My Team page don't have dots to indicate a bye for automatic emergencies.
