Yep , as I thought
So if I start a ruck at Flex, trade out a ruck , swing Flex ruck to ruck , I should be able to trade in any player with any positions into my Flex position.
Hence I'm heading down the Ruck at Flex path personally
Im liking the rookie flex for extra cash generation, not sold on Ruck Flex yet as your strategy depends on trading out a ruck. I hope i never have to trade my rucks through the season, as it always stu*** ya around. Although a DPP ruck/fwd opens up some flexibility im thinking that as long as your flex is freo player you will only have 1 bye

Long time reader, first post.

Liking the introduction of Flex. Surely a scoring ruck like TDK is the way to go? With a DPP R/F still as bench ruck? That way if a ruck misses a game (including byes) you can swing the Flex ruck to cover, have the non-playing ruck at R3, swing DPP R/F to Fwd bench and then have a Fwd at flex? You’ll always want to have 23 on field players? And whoever you have at Flex needs to be the player least likely to miss out ie not a rookie, as we have no cover at flex.

Hoping the Team picker opens tomorrow so we can test out some theories.
Good point, excellent insurance for rucks which have the least cover

Run your eye over Flynn (WCE) very well priced for his output. Should be starting ruck.

Latest iteration. Went from 2.2m in the bank to a more classic lineup. Heath filling in for Harry Boyd. Not really sure on who the flex should be; Dawson and Ashcroft both with question marks. I think if I'm going to pay up for someone than both Serong and Sheezel are the best options on their respective lines. Will be fine with breaking Dawson and Ashcroft to pay for upgrades to Flynn and Coleman if need be.

The question. Is whether this makes it too hard to start with GC, Collingwood, Sydney and Geelong premiums. They have 2 byes before Adelaide, Melbourne or West coast have any. Not really a factor for rookies, but premiums maybe. Don’t think it will impact me picking Mills or BSmith as underpriced options, but gives me reason to wait on Holmes, Naicos and Flanders. I see those three as upgrade targets now, and less as starting picks. Just gotta hope they don’t get out of range too quick.
Last year Freo & Port players were logical picks for the byes and those who went that way got off to a flyer.

Regardless of what you decide to do re: early byes and who you decide to leave out or include, I find that the main underlying issue towards the back portion of the season is, a lack of trades left, so any way you can figure out to save trades earlier in the season surely has to be better than the alternative, being short on trades at the end of the season when you need them the most.
40 trades last year, its a super sprint and hang on more than ever... If you dont play aggressive youre gone by midway

This is my first iteration with a couple of spots still TBC. 3 Essendon rookies on the bench but i think they are all a pretty good shout for Round 0/1 or whatever you call it. As mentioned in the post above I like the Rankine pick. Still a bit unclear on the tactics around the flex but plenty time to hash that out. Guthrie/SPP could end up good value picks or could end up looking silly!

Not seen much interest in Izak Rankine in FWD line? Will likely see a good amount of mid time and has shown potential for spike scores in the past.
Yep i reckon he will be in my team. Could be in for a huge year

Wouldn't it be nice though to still have some power at the home stretch? You can come back pretty hard from a terrible start if you have ammo.... To be able to still make some big trade in moves when others have spent their trades? I've been wanting to do that for several years, but alas it just never seems to end up that way, and I think your starting picks has a lot to do with it. The right or fairly close to it, starting side saves you probably half a dozen trades on the rest of the field.
It's the "holding on" part I'm not really a fan of, although more often than not, that's how things end up.

1: No room for him, really.
2: Adelaide's midfield mix is wildly uncertain.
3: Still, he's right on the periphery of making my side.

Uncertain about the Darcy pick, yet aside from that I'm fairly happy about this squad.
So who, realistically do you think would be your VC and Captain choice each week?
I don't see a reliable one there, also, I think your midfield will be under scoring compared to most others to start.
