Sheezel v Flanders, really want to start flanders, his bye is so painful though.
Is both an option!?

The concern for both of them is role change with Rioli and Noble pushing Flanders into the midfield and even forward line & Sheezel’s talent pushing him into the middle and even forward line…

Throughout last season both of them played in a variety of different roles on field but the one thing that remained the same was their consistently strong scoring… I’m not phased about a slight role change from last season & feel much better about my side knowing Flanders & Sheezel are in it!

To answer your question, I think Sheezel would be my preference, only because he has the “favourable” bye! Sheezel’s round 12 bye isn’t great by any means but from a defence perspective, I can’t see any other North, Port, Carlton or Bulldogs defenders being all that relevant so hopefully you’d have cover for him!

I think this one comes down to your thoughts on how Oliver will perform this year…

I like Day as an option but for me personally, Oliver was one of the first players picked in my side but that’s because I genuinely believe a 110+ average is a more than realistic expectation.

Couple that with a favourable bye and slightly cheaper starting price and it’s a no brainer for me!!!

FWIW I think Will Day is also a very good selection but his recent injuries and early bye have given me enough of a reason to leave him out of my side (for now anyways). If all goes to plan, I’m hoping he’ll still be reasonably affordable after his bye for an early upgrade!

Came down to Flanders for me, yes I have him in. Firstly was his draw , starts with WCE, Dees, Crows, North and Tigers as the first 5 matchups, secondly, he's the only player (barring a rookie or two) that I have on that bye, meaning that he'll be covered with my 19th best score which could well be an 80+ and given an expectation of around 115 then that might only be a 30pt hit (might be more, might be less) Those matchups could well see him scoring 50 pts over his starting price, so actually a win over someone who scores at their starting price without a bye. Thirdly, was the round 12 bye for Sheezel, I already have Xerri, Cripps, JHF and Daniel, so another would be pushing it.

Sheezel, Green, TDK and Lynch
vs
Flanders, H Reid, Gawn and L Parker.

A switch based on bye issues.
Lot's of variables, but I'm going to run with both Flanders and Green even with the early byes, Gawn has been locked from day dot, as well as Lynch if he stays fit. I'm not sold on Parker and think it's a year early for Reid.

Flanders draw has him in over Sheezel, same deal with Darcy over TDK

Not an option for me given other players I have with byes.

Reid can go at 100 plus ave which still be under Green but Gawn makes up for that over TDK.

not sure how to write a comment ,anyone ? in reply to ONTOPBAR I went with Flanders as well but 30 pts seems way short / in my case I am comparing ZERRETT ( my flanders replacement ) with my 4th rookie 120 to 60 therefore double your 30 .Am I correct and if so is a trade worth 60 points ?

The decision im currently struggling with is:

Horne-Francis & Sheldrick/Curtin
V
Parker & Peatling

I’m sure preseason games will ultimately make the decision for me but thought I should get people’s thoughts regardless.

I believe on natural improvement alone Horne-Francis should be able to get his average to a 105 average and dependent on role and if they’re best 22 I’m pretty bullish on Sheldrick 65-70ppg and to a lesser extent Curtain 62-68ppg.

Peatling is someone I’ve always been lukewarm on. He would’ve been recruited with the intent on playing predominately on ball and his numbers last year were good without being “must have” good.

92ppg - excluding his 7 sub affected games.
98ppg - for games where he had over 50% CBA’s

Assuming he goes 95-100 he should make some good coin and be much more consistent than a rookie each week!

Parker’s the one I’m really struggling to predict because I know he’s been training as a mid this preseason but come round one, surely he’s not taking many minutes away from the likes of LDU, Sheezel, Powell and McKercher, especially considering Simpkin will be rotating through as well and Wardlaw will come straight back in as well!

The question for me is, if Parker only gets 25-33% CBA’s would he still score enough to be a viable pick and with a weaker forward line and his price point, what is an “acceptable average”.

Thanks!
