Plenty of cheap players named as emergencies for round 8 for the 4 sides and injuries are mounting weekly at most clubs.

The argument against unforced changes is that Cats vs Crows is a virtual playoff for 4th, while the Suns are still plying for 8th spot.

The Blues probably should be playing some fringe players so they know as much as possible about them prior to o***eason delistings.
Ortlepp 36 in her 3rd game could be the best option for me. Just as bench back up.

I quite like her as an F6, my structure and horrific cover means that who ever I bring in this week is likely to play onfield, so I will be closely assessing the under $35k options.

Goal-umpiring error cost Swans in loss to Dons: AFL
THE AFL has acknowledged a goal umpiring mistake cost Sydney a crucial goal in its four-point loss to Essendon on Saturday.

Defender Molly Eastman's set shot with 5min 20sec remaining in the third term was judged a behind to the obvious confusion and dismay of the Swans players.

Had Eastman's shot been called a goal, the Swans would have gone ahead by two points in the tight contest.

The winless Swans eventually lost the match, 7.6 (48) to 7.2 (44), with the game being the team's best chance for a win since their four-point loss to Hawthorn earlier in the season.

The AFL provided the following statement:

"We acknowledge that a mistake was a made during the third quarter in Sydney and Essendon game on the weekend. After communicating this with Sydney the AFL thanks the Swans for their understanding.

"In this particular instance, a goal should have been signalled.

"Overall, the umpires did a terrific job officiating across round eight."

The ARC and goal reviews that are used in the AFL men's competition are not employed in the AFLW, with the sheer number of grounds used in the competition an issue.

For example, Adelaide and Port Adelaide's men's sides usually only play home games at Adelaide Oval, while the women's sides have played across Norwood, Unley, Glenelg, Alberton and Adelaide Ovals in the space of just eight rounds.

"At the moment we don't have the infrastructure to have score review across all venues," an AFL spokesperson said.

"We will continue to investigate this going forward."

Sydney will close out its maiden season with games against the injury-hit Fremantle and Geelong.

AFLW set to hold one-off overage draft as stop-gap measure

THE AFLW is expected to hold a one-off overage national draft in the coming months as a stop-gap between its shortened seasons.

After completing two campaigns in the space of eight months throughout 2022 to re-align the AFLW fixture, it's understood the next NAB AFLW Draft – expected to fall either in February or March next year – will only consider players 19 years of age or above.

Womens.afl understands clubs were briefed on the upcoming plans to hold an overage national draft this week, due to there being no junior girls season between the last draft held in June and the next scheduled for early 2023.

It means clubs will only be able to pick from mature-aged state league talent from competitions like the VFLW, SANFLW and WAFLW, or young players overlooked during the most recent national draft earlier this year.

It's believed that after next year's overage draft, the League then plans to revert back to a traditional national draft – where the junior season falls more in sync with the AFLW campaign and the majority of the talent pool will be made up of 18-year-olds – from the end of 2023 onwards.

From there, the timing of AFLW trade and draft periods are tipped to fall in line with that of the men's competition and are expected to be held towards the end of each year.

However, the plans have been met by concern from clubs that a compromised draft will limit the short-term ability to trade for rival players at season's end.

Clubs have privately expressed that draft picks will hold less value for 2023, given the restricted access to the best junior talent in the country, and will therefore be more difficult to trade during the player movement window.

A handful of clubs are understood to have since lobbied for the League to consider future trading, mirroring that of the men's competition, as a means of giving them more to play with at the trade table and generating more player movement.

A total of 76 players moved clubs between the 2022 season, which finished in April, and season seven, which began in August. That number considers the expansion sign and trade period, the trade period and delisted free agency.

I’m super keen on Pauga - May even play her at Util… is she too pricer though?

Schaap ($28,700 FWD) makes it a cheapie on each line aside from RUC which is handy.

Personally I’ll be picking Schaap.
Just to recap:

28.7k cheapies
DEF: Kiera Mueller - Crows
MID: Ashleigh Gomes - Eagles
FWD: Poppy Schaap - Blues
Rookies recently have in some cases been rubbish but I would pick any of these as a bench option without hesitation.

I will be reviewing trade options tonight and will review which of them I might consider for onfield duties.

Yep, Schaap will very much be on the bench. Would be handy if she can score well enough to be a F5 option for the last round though.

I'm considering Lucy Burke $38,500 from St Kilda to replace Chelsea Randall $122,000.
Lucy's Burke last round: CBA 91%, TOG 93%, 12 HO, scored 56pts.
Playing Port Adelaide this week, is she worth considering to free up some cash?poss 1 down 2 up
I think shes worth 50pts

Nalder will very likely be back which will likely put an end to Burke’s CBA’s. Won’t find out for sure until after lockout too.

I think you right, Nalder was emergency last week, possibly precautionary due to concussion the week prior (i think)
Thanks for the feedback
