Quickly whipped this up. Let me know if it is confusing or whether I should change colours for a softer touch. I will try and provide with some more analysis a little later on if Thanh doesn't beat me to it.

certainly not the most inspiring set of numbers , hopefully if Khawaja regains his Test spot , Gilkes will get to open for the Thunder.

Ferg , Ross & Sangha don't exactly inspire me as SC starting choices
Hear, Hear.

Really like C Green and C Morris as starting selections for the Thunder but bar A Hales, no one else entices me from the side.

I think it was when he was at the Strikers or Hurricanes was looking forward to watching him bat given all the hype , but failed to deliver bar one decent innings.

A lot of the England bats haven't really performed as expected in the Big Bash

Haven't looked at C Green , like him as a cricketer , wish the Aussie selectors would give him a go at T20I.

Have Morris locked dependent on MSL form & fitness.

Wait and see on the Test team re Khawaja , not sure on Sams.

Hales is probably cheap enough to start and move on in Rd2 for a Scorcher/Striker.

Gilkes will come into contention if he opens.

Probably need 3 of them for the double.

Same sentiment regarding C Morris as well as the same plan utilised if Hales is selected as he will be replaced by Salt in RD2.

In regards to C Green, his consistency and cheaper price is the allure in comparison to Sams/Abbott/etc as well as the numerous rain affected games for the Thunder last season.

Might look into Green a bit more , think the Thunder are at the Gabba and Geelong Week 1 so will have to weigh it all up.

Might have to change the color scheme. It's very confusing for the Adelaide Strikers row.

Done a quick initial starting squad. Have a look and let me know what you think.

very interesting side with 7 x DWG players , can't fault DC and The Big Show though , like Agar.

Curious as to why S Marsh (can't fault him at this level) and not Lynnsanity or Khawaja (or maybe that is what the extra cash is for) , or to adjust your bench , or to target Rashid Khan in Week 2 (although I guess Cutting will be traded to Rashid)

Quite like the look of that side at this stage.

What are your thoughts on Steyn if fully fit ?

Shaun Marsh over Lynn because of the draw, feel like Marsh will have a big few innings vs Thunder, Perth (old team) and Hobart (away on decent batting wicket). Still comes out to 3 games in 3 rounds, and I don't really plan on trading him out unless an injury or test call up occurs.

Lynn has a few question marks over him as to whether he will open or bat 3 with Banton, Cutting and Peirson in the squad. Marsh will open I presume so that's a tick in my box. Khawaja I believe will be selected in the test series this summer, so unless this doesn't happen I'll be sticking with it. I'd have to seriously consider him if he were available for selection for at least the first week or two of the campaign.

The other thing that Marsh has is a lower price tag. It means I can spread the love a bit more across my squad, and was part of the reason I'm forgoing Short and Stoinis for the time being.

Steyn is a tough one, the heart says to give him a crack, but the head is telling me no way. The Stars are not a great team tactically, so I don't think they will use him to his best potential and this will reflect in his SuperCoach scoring. I'm going to enjoy watching him bowl even if he isn't in my squad.

Can't fault any of that re Shaun Marsh ( I actually am hoping he is back in the Test Squad) , but yes can't see them not opening him with Finch , on song definitely one of the best bats going around.

Heat will be interesting :-

Bryant & Banton opening or does Lynn open again ? then there is Cutting.

Peirson @ 5 or 6 unless Banton keeps , then the other spot could be Burns/Heazlett/Renshaw etc.

2 spinners + Lalor , Patto (maybe) + who , they look light on there.

Personally I think Khawaja should open with Warner , think Harris & Bancroft are completely out of there depth at Test level , mystified why Burns can't get a regular gig.

Was reading that Maddinson might open for the A team and Burns down the order

If Steyn has a big MSL, I can't see myself not picking him , can see him having a point to.prove and ripping through a few sides and taking a few 3 fa's.

I can't see myself starting either Short or Stones either , far too expensive.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

One thing that might be worth considering - although you’re probably already aware of it - is that Marsh has a much better record in WA than elsewhere, at least in some formats of the game. I think I saw that the Renegades’ strike rates/economy rates were notably lower than other teams’ last year, so perhaps it’s an unfavorable change in conditions for Marsh this year.

First home game for Marsh is at Geelong and not marvel so I’m banking on him cashing in the first few games. Last season I think the problem with Marvel was a lack of preparation at the beginning so not starting there until after Xmas gives the groundsmen a chance to do better with the square before the first match there.
