That says to me 2-3 sessions of bowling before he’s happy. Assume a session on Wednesday (assuming rest day today). Game on Thursday, rest day Friday, bowl Saturday and Sunday. Game on Monday (round 9).

Think we can safely assume he’s bowling for round 10, but big possibility he’s bowling round 9. Super outside chance of bowling next round.
I agree.. reckon there is a small chance of 1-2 overs in round 8 but only if the bowlers are getting spanked and Maxi is desperate for options. I'd say he bowls round 9.. but again probably only 2 overs unless there is a desperate need. Round 10 I think he's picked as a bowler and the plan is minimum 3, possibly full quota of 4.

The worst part will be the 1-2 rounds where they pick a full compliment of bowlers + Stoinis, and the breakdown of overs is a lottery!

Don't quite understand the "picked as a bowler" part.

2018/19 he played 13 games and bowled 23 overs

1 , 1 , 0 , 3 , 4 , 4 , 4 , 4 , 2 , 1 , 0 , 1 , 2 were his game by game splits.

Not sure why Zahir missed last night and surprised they didn't play Hinchliffe in his place , seems 3+1 is preferred recently where they played 3+2 last season the majority.

Would need to check when NCN is back but they could go :-

NCN (?) (Rainbird)
Rauf
Stanlake
Zampa
Hatcher/Hinchliffe/Zahir or extra Bat

Maxy obviously will bowl , Stoinis , maybe Cartwright & Maddinson (when he returns)

Certainly don't see Stoinis as guaranteed 4 each and every match when he resumes bowling.

Might all come down to opponents and matchups each game and be conditional and situational.

They might be doing something "sneaky" so Fletcher/Zahir vanishes so they can extend Pooran as well.

Milne if named instead of Stoinis?
Out: K Richardson, C Brathwaite, B Dwarshuis
In: A Hales, J Inglis and M Stoinis/A Milne
Cheers guys,

Unfortunately I did not go the Stoinis route but did go Hales and Inglis.

No Stoinis, McDermott or Rashid is going to hurt this week.

Also have to find a C after GM fail looking at either Carey , Christian or Philippee, decisions decisions 😯

I probably will only have one of Carey / Philippe after this round so may need a backup and he’s not very loopable, expensive option I guess.
I settled on bringing in Inglis this round , to give me the option of trading McDermott next round.

Needless to say after yesterday's score that idea has been squashed.

Not sure now whether to aim for Carey or try to factor in Wade.

Stoinis is a better bowler than everyone they have available currently besides Zampa, I really don't see him struggling for overs once he's given the all clear.

Got curious about Optus stadium and if it matched up to my hazy recollections from last season.. some interesting stats. Here are the high level game summaries so people can get the context behind the numbers:

Only 2/14 innings had a team completely bowled out (average ~11-12 wickets per game), and outside of the extreme outlier game 5 an average of 173 per inning. Also excluding the game 5, there is basically 6-7 scores over 20 each game and an average of 2 50+ scores a game - including 5 total over 70!

Game 1
Scorchers 7/196 def Renegades 6/185
13/20 wickets fallen
7 scores over 20 inc. 4 scores over 50 (67, 56, 55, 51)

Game 2
Sixers 7/174 def Scorchers 126
17/20 wickets fallen
6 scores over 20 (highest 43)

Game 3
Hurricanes 2/180 def Scorchers 8/172
10/20 wickets fallen
6 scores over 20 inc. 1 score over 50 (103)

Game 4
Scorchers 3/213 def Heat 8/179
11/20 wickets fallen
7 scores over 20 inc. 2 scores over 50 (93, 55)

Game 5
Scorchers 86 def by Stars 2/89
12/20 wickets fallen
2 scores over 50 (highest 39)

Game 6
Thunder 5/153 def by Scorchers 2/154
7/20 wickets fallen
4 scores over 20 inc. 3 scores over 50 (85, 78, 58)

Game 7
Strikers 5/181 def Scorchers 7/165
12/20 wickets fallen
6 scores over 20 inc. 2 scores over 50 (79, 58)

Big call out that last season's pitch is not this season's pitch so there is no guarantee this translates to this season - all games also included the Scorchers (6th overall) so that could influence things a bit. I've also not done anything to compare this to other grounds/matches... these numbers may be pretty consistent across all grounds and be nothing special. But definitely some food for thought given the Thunder have both games there next round.

Also the 103* was Darcy Short.. make of that what you will!

Fair enough.

I am not questioning his bowling ability.

Never been guaranteed 4 in the past.

Especially when they could have anywhere between 5-8 options available soon.

As a Stoinis owner the more bowling the better , certainly have no expectations he will bowl a full 4 every game once he resumes bowling.

Thurs weather has me thinking of trading a couple of Heat players despite their DGR.
Bazley with a high BE and possibly only 1 game will lose $, and that's what he's in my team for - lock in the profit.
Rahman with a washed out 1st game and possibly on a plane out of Oz for the 2nd - take the cash boost and go shopping.

May look at getting Burns for some points/cash as he is still quite cheap even if he only plays 1 game in the DGR.

If I do the above, I'll have Wilde, Bryant & Burns from the Heat + Khawaja, Hales & Sangha from the Thunder for the DGR.

Not sold on Sams, might get Stoinis instead.

Maxi mentioned in the coverage last night about how Stoinis not bowling impacts the team balance (and having to pick an extra bowler), so while he may not be picked for a locked in 4 overs, I would say when he is fit to bowl they'll pick 4 FT bowlers and then spread the other 4 overs across Maxi/Stoinis depending on the pitch, conditions etc (similar to last game but Stoinis takes Cartwright's over(s)) rather than 5 recognised bowlers + Maxi/Stoin.

Just remember Stoinis is also playing on Thursday so may pay to wait until the following round for him.

Fair enough then didn't hear Maxwell's comments.

I am a big believer in flexibility though especially in T20 cricket so never believe batting orders or if a team has 5 bowlers they all just bowl 4 each.

All about adapting to the game situation as it presents itself.

Very curious to see how they handle their OS situation with Rauf arriving this week.

They may well go 3 + Zampa and share the 5th between Maxwell & Stoinis.

Hatcher will be stiff to miss out when NCN returns.

Baffled they signed Zahir and won't play him so maybe they go 2 + 2 then one of NCN/Stanlake misses out.

Whether they stick solidly to that every game remains to be seen especially given Cartwright & Maddinson are options as well.

So much flexibility.

Might have to Tweet Maxy b4 each game and get the over breakdown from him 😉

Did he mention anything in the telecast why Zahir missed out on playing ?

missing Inglis this round is going to hurt but it came down to him or Stoinis so I cant complain. Might still sneak him in next round
