No clarification as yet but my current understanding of the rules are that:
- For any player that starts a match and is subbed out after taking the field then the score will count if on your Fantasy field line up (unless they are on your bench and score a "0" as an emergency player which you could mitigate by selecting another emergency on the same line)
- For any player subbed in the scores won't count but do they instead go to the player that was subbed out ?? (very confusing at the moment)
- Seen a few times that player A starts the match .... goes off for player B and yet player A gets awarded any points for a catch etc...
For any player that starts in a match and is in your Fantasy starting line up then regardless of the score it will count ...
-For any "Emergency" player that starts in a match and scores a "0" then the score won't count as the lowest one if you have an additional emergency selected on the same line and a non-playing player on field ...
-For any players outside of the starting XI they will not be awarded any points (new sub rule ??)

FWIW ,
I think you could carry up to 6x Stars players into round 1.....................and get rid of all of them if you wished to by their round 3 bye......................if you wanted to be brutal.
Hurricanes don’t have a bye at all...................no worries with them.
Swap out your Stars players 3x @ a time............. after round 1, then after round 2.
You could buy 3x Strikers after round 1 ....................buy another 3x strikers after round 2...................round 2 double you’d have 4x canes/3x strikers and coming into round 3 you could have as many as 6x strikers for their second double...........if you wanted to max the possible points for doubles that is.
The 2x Strikers you currently have benched could be changed to another team?......................for more team flexibility?
Same applies to the Strikers after that..........again if you wanted to be brutal with your trading chasing double point opportunities............start flicking them 3x @ a time......................you’ve got 3x rounds of trades, (so a possible 9x trades) before you hit the next double round for the Ren’s/Sixers.
The way the season is structured this year, you could employ this ‘brutal trading way’ right thru out the year and have enough trades to do it.
You’d have to be brave through.................or crazy................or both (lol).
If the cards fell you way and player prices suited at the corresponding times, (big ask but not impossible - form for players is always an unknown week to week)...............you could have a very good BBL 10.

While thinking along this ‘line’ and considering the chasing of double round playing teams for the bonus points..................
If you saturate round 1 with 6x Stars players and the rest Hurricanes....................only considering the 11x playing earning spots.....................you’d have 6x double point players round 1
Round 2 and trading in 3x Strikers ..................with 5x Hurricanes already in place, you’d have 8x of the 11x playing in this round earning you double points !!
Round 3 with another 3x Strikers traded in gets you back to 6x double earners for the round.
Use this strategy...................and you could have 9x of the 11x playing the round for you earning double points in round 6 !!
If chasing double points is your aim of course.
Bad weather is a killer though..........................this angle would be crippling in bad weather and called off or reduced games !!

30 DGW players over the first three rounds is as good as it gets. You can also achieve it starting 8, 9, or 10 Stars in Round 1 if you needed to juggle finances. However, not a tactic I would recommend. The more players you include from a single team the more likely you include a player at more risk of being dropped!
Would also mean you are holding 5 Stars through their bye still as you could only trade out 6 of them prior to the bye. That would be your whole bench full of Stars and any late out/injury would bring down your score.
If you could work it though would give you a leg up on the comp early.
Most Stars I would be willing to start would be 6, but more likely will be 4

The more I think about it, ideally I would like to try and make starting 4 Stars, 3 or 4 Hurricanes and 3 or 4 Strikers work. I would be comfortable with 4, 7 or 8, and 4 DGW players over the first three rounds, depending who those players are and how the rest of my team looked. Whilst many are focusing solely on only bringing in DGW players in Rounds 2 and 3, I could be focusing more on correctional trades based on form and value to better set my team up for future rounds - which will also mean not being afraid to upgrade a player on his DGW. Unfortunately there will be some intricacies with starting line ups and tactics that we won't know until teams have played their first match, so leaving a bit of wriggle room to be able to correct early may be important?
If available Maxwell , Stoinis , Zampa will be starting in my side.
NCN looks value (but with back to back games could also be rested)
Added in Stanlake (not totally convinced but need some cheapies) , if he can get 2-3 wickets over both games will be happy with that , possibly have found a trade out option for Round 4 that could work.
Cartwright will be my 6th (at this stage)
Hobart was always going to be Faulkner , McDermott , Meredith & Short.
FOMO has me including Jacks (over Renshaw)
Round 2 will add 3 Strikers , Round 3 will add Carey and leave the other 2 trades open at the moment , could be the chance to correct 2 players or jump on 2 quick starters.
Will also be monitoring Renegades/Sixers and hoping a few start slow to lose $$$ quickly.
Hopefully maybe able to keep Maxwell where a lot will probably trade him out (still think he can be a Top 10 player) , trying to recall how long he had that elbow issue at the end of last season.

Haven't been keen on the Dunk/Gotch option at all.

Really interesting year. 7 single game weeks seems more than previous years. Only 6 weeks with doubles.
Do we target the DGWs more? Do we focus more on cash generation? Is starting with more value players more important than ever? Do we run a thinner squad giving us the ability to loop 2/3 bench players?

My thinking is that if I start some Strikers/more than most coaches, I’m already better positioned for round 2 as well as round 3.
That then means I can use more of my round 3 trades for corrections, cash gen management, even prep for round 6. It adds flexibility (after R1), which I think could be helpful for the reasons you mention.

Yeah that’s a fair point. My thinking is more around the single game weeks.
For example, Curran is someone everyone is going to want for round 6. A team that generates 100k more over the first 3 rounds might be able to trade out a striker like Worrall or Renshaw instead of losing Rashid. More points across round 4/5 before maybe having to lose Rashid.

Do you see any risk with not knowing their starting XI when you lock in their players? Rolling lockout in Round 1 means we can see all other teams starting XI’s before locking their players in. That can also help deduce likely batting order and number of bowlers they will use etc. We can assume who the Strikers likely XI is from the squad announced the day before but we will be guessing structure and we won’t know who may have that niggle we haven’t been told about and gets left out unexpectedly!
