Good summary.

KRicho and Mujeeb both look good to me.

Quality players at nice prices. They play again at the same venue in R5 game 2, and Mujeeb should enjoy the SCG.

Priority targets for mine.

Edit: the Geelong game is an argument for not loading up on batsmen from either team. Worth keeping in mind.
Surely Richo is in the wickets soon.

Need Abbott & Philippe to have quiet ones tomorrow night.

Might just be Hosein , Mujeeb & Richardson from the Renegades.

Mujeeb might be needed (at his price) to afford everyone else.

If Hosein does get DPP that's one less Bat position we will need to worry about.

Unless Swepson has a stinker in Game 2 , he should get Mujeeb easily enough for Round 4.

Will be good to get tomorrow’s game “out of the way” so we know how the Sixers are shaping up.

Maybe then we can do another poll on the R5 teams combined.

Best to make it an R4 trade question, or a targets for R5 question?

We can list prices and BEs with the options if desired.

Good idea

Should be able to identify the 6 best MR/SS options after tomorrow night (and work out by BE the best round to bring them in)

Neser might be hard to trade out if he keeps performing like that

Swepson - > Mujeeb
Steketee - >
Tye - >
Rashid (trade) - >

Sams (hold)
M Short (hold on Bye or trade , hard to get back in again)
Shadab (hold on Bye , depending when he leaves)

Leaves 2 from :-

Hales , Inglis , Stoinis (price to low) , Webster & Zampa as options

Interesting

With regards to the final trade, we will need to either go with Webster or another BAT option. Trading him will leave us with Short, Khan, Neser, Stoinis as the only playing BAT options. Even if we traded Hales out instead of Gilkes, it might give us a bit extra cash to spend ($155,900), but it would still need to be a BAT option. Hardie (BE -41) is about the only one I'd consider, and I think I'd prefer the Hales/Webster (BE -35) combo to Gilkes/Hardie.

Currently we are on 1/338 from 4 SI or 1/411 (Steketee) from 5 SI if we lock in Steketee as VC. With nobody else to come having a double, and Steketee with another game to play, I suggest locking in the VC, meaning we are on 1/411, with 10 SI to go. Swepson was a bit disappointing in last night's match, but our other 3 were great options. We'll wait and see after his second match if we would have been better off with the second cash cow option, but it wasn't a terrible call.

I've already made the decision we will be looping on Hosein, and I highly doubt anyone disagrees. This means we need to bench one of our 3 bowlers yet to play - Rashid, Tye or Zampa. Rashid plays the Heat at the Gabba and he has an average of 112.5 from 4 games there, with a low of 64 - those numbers suggest we have him on field. As previously mentioned, the Scorchers v Stars game is at Junction Oval, which is quite a small ground and has previously been batting friendly. I'd suggest benching one of the two from this game - I would expect it is easier to hit a spinner for 6, which is why I had Zampa as the bench option, but this needs to be confirmed.

Good start to the round, hopefully we can keep it going.

Great start!

Re: Tye and Zampa - is there a preferred option for a given toss result? My feeling is both of them are helped by the Stars batting first but some more specific data would be useful.

For what it’s worth, I’m thinking I’ll bench Tye. Reckon any loose balls will get punished and can see him getting hit for a few. I think ER points are unlikely for a lot of bowlers so comes down to wickets.. I think Zampa is more likely to get one than Tye, but also don’t know much about how Junction Oval plays other than it’s the size of a dinner plate.

Interestingly, both players do better bowling first, but Tye by a bigger margin:

Those numbers obviously don’t account for pitch/opposition.

If we don’t have/form a view on the pitch, I guess Scorchers batters are stronger than Stars?

Does Hales - > Gilkes help us get preferred Renegades & Sixers though ?

Don't have enough Bank to get 5 x $ 150k players so can see us ending up having to get someone like Sutherland as a compromise 😱

Should be able to identify the preferred Sixers players after tonight , getting them in though might be harder than we think.

Shouldn't need to go digging that far into the bargain bin. K Richo looks good value, Mujeeb is cheap, and I know Jono Wells is a favourite of yours ;)

I can see Tye burgling 3/50 but sold him myself so not too confident. Zampa last 3 scores against the Scorchers are 28,26 and 32 courtesy of SC gold. He’s also made his thoughts clear on the Junction oval pitch a few years ago

I guess we just trade all 3 of Rashid , Shadab & Short at their Bye which is probably not ideal.

Swepson gets Mujeeb

Rashid , Shadab , Short , Steketee , Tye probably get another 5.

Still have Sams

Maybe Zampa rises enough.

Just trade out premiums I guess.

Wrong ground now for Wells.

Not necessarily the worst thing as I can't see us wanting to hold most of the renegades we bring in given they don't have another double. Probably just Hosein given his scoring potential! So we can always just reverse the trades the following round and get them back.

I also think we'll be ok for players as quite a lot of the "target" players have started the year poorly.. in addition to Mujeeb/KRicho listed above, Philippe is also likely to be a bargain at between $130k-$140k. I reckon next week we target the cheaper guys and/or lower BEs, and then work out how we can get the rest of the guys we want the following round.

I can see us being able to hold 1 of Short or Khan over the bye, but also don't think it's the worst thing to need to get them back as the next doubles are 3 rounds away and we'll already be halfway to the team we want as the Sixers feature again.

Might sit back for the next 2 rounds and just observe where we are heading 😉

Rounds 6-9 are going to be a minefield trying to hold Sixers and get Hurricanes and finding enough players to trade out.

OS players starting to depart

Test players should be available for Round 9 onwards as well (Carey , Head , maybe Green on a DGR)

Just went through my own side looking at Round 4 & 5 and ranked them in various categories , so based on our current side I see them like this :-

DGR 5 (1)

Hosein

Definite trade outs (4)

Rashid Khan (Bye in Round 5)
Steketee - Trade out Round 4
Swepson - Trade out Round 4
Tye

Possible Trade out options (6)

Hales
Inglis
Neser
Stoinis (low value)
Webster (low value)
Zampa

Hold if possible (3)

Sams
Shadab Khan (Round 5 Bye)
Short (Round 5 Bye)

Useless to trade (2)

Connolly
Handscomb

Worth flagging that the weather is a concern in Sydney tonight.

The radar shows a lot of rain, but to me it looks like we might dodge the worst of it.

It’s probably worth trying to loop Shadab if possible.

On the flip side, it could make our Sixers targets cheaper if it does hit.

No way to loop Shadab. :(

I thought predictions were the match should avoid most of the rain, guess we'll see. Can't always rely on forecasts. I see the toss has been delayed, hopefully that's all.
