Could someone explain briefly the benefits or batting first or bowling first (in terms of SuperCoach points)…

Batting first (generally less points for batters? Cos they have to choose their own tempo)

Bowling second means lots of wickets for death bowlers who can pick off hitters trying to slog to get the runs?
This is very much just my sense and not backed by numbers specifically, but:
* Opening bats don't matter too much, they get the same opportunity either way. But any that aren't quite so explosive are probably better batting first for exactly that reason, they can just go at their pace and bat through.
* The further down the batting order you go the more you want to bat first - more likely to get opportunity
* Death bowlers are better bowling first, IMO - the 20th over of the first innings is the most likely to get wickets historically, and a death bowler in a tight chase will tend to bowl defensively (or in a not-so-tight chase, may not get all their overs at all)
* I prefer spinners bowling second - I think they then become the obvious target in a run chase and it opens up opportunities

For specific players you can use Big Bash Board to check their splits between the first and second innings if you're interested!

Not a lock at all, given his price comparative to that of his teammates. Preferably for players in that price range, I would be selecting if I intend to hold them long term, have a very high ceiling or not confident in lower priced teammates/players matching his production. I feel Steketee does not fit those categories and also does not possess a nice economy rate to fall back on if the wickets dry up or are minimal. If you do not intend on vice captaining him then it returns back to the value argument, as this would be seen to be a vote of no confidence in Steketee. I gather his popularity stems largely from the fact he is on a double and easy to switch to K Richardson/etc next round.
I agree with this comparison for the most part, i think if u compare him to other heat players, he does appeal more. However if u compare him to other bowlers, he doesnt stick out like he has in the past. And thats the ultimate dilemma. As i never intended on vcing him, he is a miss for me. A big risk, but some good excitement for the round. Ive picked munro over steketee, which also preserves my bowlers loophole with sams.

Sticking with Bazley I think. Hosein and Short I own and will get the first overs v Munro in the DGR. While they might not get him out, it feels counterproductive if they did

Bazley 67 BE also. So if he has a poor DGR, shouldn’t shed too much coin. Munro 105 so if he has 2 failures could lose a bit

Really couldn’t decide between Renshaw or Munro and Baz vs Neser so have decided to simply take the bowlers. Have taken enough of a hit on pure batters and Munro is still exy for that role.

Boosting for cash gen Dooley. Can’t stomach boosting for another heat player when I don’t overly rate them.

I like it. I’ve done the same, albeit I wouldn’t mind even one more Heat bowler.

Sounds like we align this round mate. Also grabbing the bowlers and boosting for Dooley

Probably the round it turns around, but keep getting stung with bats only so rather chance my arm on Bazley and Neser getting 2 chances at a score via bat and bowling

I still can’t decide between Renshaw, Munro and Billings

Renshaw opens and is a sensible batter with a low possibility of bowling

Munro has gone nuclear in the past but also has a very low floor

Billings is probably the best batter but he’s out of form and behind Munro and Renshaw in the order

Season shaping decision
