Scored 939 which doesn’t feel great, also hate seeing 3 single digit scores on field from Shaw, Richardson and Davies.

Was pretty frustrated picking Connolly as captain instead of taking Short’s VC score just before the Scorchers first game, but it ended up working out as I was using Shaw as my loop and was out for dinner for the Sydney smash, so I missed him getting named, which could have been disastrous if I left the C on him. Worked out especially well after Conolly’s second game.

However, what really killed me was that I had the choice to bring in either Davies or Turner. Didn’t spend enough time trying to make the decision as I could have, and ended up brining in Davies (who seems like will be dropped next round) when I could have $20k with Turner, gained an extra 100 points and held him with a negative BE.

Starting with Owen has paid off, but it hurts looking at his 151 on the bench when all of my bowlers except 1 on the same line went under 35. Just have to take the cash gen.

Wowsers... Nose bleed territory for me (#5)!

Let's see how long I can avoid the inevitable decline!
Treat it like you did in the cycling comp I ran this year. I know that's a completely different sport and amount of competition, however I think that sort of apprach could help you. No need to make risky picks like those chasing did to try to catch up after you started strongly - just pick players you know should score well and let the others around you drop off. You managed that very well in the cycling comp, placing top 3 in pretty much every event, so I'm sure you can do just as well here too!

Of course I've never been anywhere near the top of the rankings (except for the year I ran a SCS combined team, where I made minimal decisions myself and let everyone else here decide what to do). Best advice is to do differently to me!

Ended on 1097 after a 1298 in the opening round. Traded Rogers which was unfortunate and may have adjusted if aware of the news in time regarding Tye/Richardson. Good job by Seifert and Sutherland on a single to narrow the gap along with Tye and Connolly compensating for their low scores to start the round.

Have not looked into trades yet but likely to flick Behrendorff, Tye and Richardson for the likes of Heat bowler, Sixers bowler, Heat/Sixer and may use my last boost if needed.

Was sitting pretty when rogers had taken his first wicket earlier and Connolly was struggling to get to 10. That game could’ve been oh so different for Connolly captainers without a roof.

As it is, still in touching distance with 1045 and 1941 rank with 4 double players who all did their job scoring 100+. Honorable mentions to Rogers and Renshaw who kept me chugging and not losing too much distance on those who went well this round.

Looking forward to next round’s challenge of fielding a strong team while balancing the team for round 4. Suspect it will be similar for plenty of other coaches.

Given the big decision we all had to make on whether to include Matt Short and indeed whether to make him captain I thought I would have a look how it worked out. The following is a summary from the 92 members that are part of the SCS group. I think it is fair to say that it hasn't turned out to be season defining at least when looking at this round isolation.

Cheer mate. I've never really been at the pointy end either, but very happy with a fast start and making some good calls (well, except for Finn Allen!).

I think with best 11 scoring its going to be easier to chase this year (if the POD pick fails, their score drops off), so that's going to make things more interesting.

Ultimately for me SC is about having some fun (and beating my kids), so while a fast start is good, I'm very aware of the fickle nature of SC. But I'm at the pointy end, so let's see what happens!

Bad round, dropped from 250th to 803rd. But we soldier on. 5 doubles already this week and looking to add 4 more

Short to Maxwell
Richardson to Dwarshuis
Weatherald to Mcsweeney
Konstas to Spencer Johnson

Is Johnson back? If not might have to go someone else or trade a Fergus to get an Abbott or the like

What should I do here for R3?

View attachment 81698
Numerous options

* Do you want to keep your Renegades for Round 4 or trade out Seifert & Sutherland to get high priced BH/SS & Maxwell ?

Can you then get Seifert & Sutherland back for Round 4 ?

* alternatively do you want to use Overton & Short to get high priced BH/SS & Maxwell and then get them back for Round 4 ?

Other possible issues

Weatherald injured
Konstas with the Test Squad
Richardson with the Test Squad

So if this is the Test XI

Khawaja
Konstas
Labuschagne
Smith
Head (?)
Marsh (?)
Carey
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
Boland

Does Webster get released in time for both games of the DGR (or 1 game) ? and Inglis is the "spare" bat

Do they need to hold both Abbott & Richardson or is one of them going to play the Sydney Test ?

Other concern might be Stoinis annual Christmas break , does he play the Stars first game ?

Another few days of waiting for news
