If Warner gets up for the third Test does Warner/Wade seem a reasonable opening combination? Still probably only a short term thing just for this series, but it seems almost unfair to expect Burns to thrive in this environment right now.

They were saying on the telecast before play started that their is now doubt whether Warner will be right for the SCG Test.

I haven't seen any updates on Pucovski either.

Why don’t they just do ball tracking (or whatever the major obstacle is) first?

That’s two that were obviously high on ball tracking, the first of them obvious to the naked eye, I thought. We’ve wasted all this time on snicko etc but it’s irrelevant if it’s not hitting the stumps.

The on field umpire surely knows what his main concern was, so they could just specify to check that up front. Alternately the TV umpire could check this in the background while the other stuff is loading up.

Review for LBW.

I gather the important thing is to see whether he hit it first or not.

Thought it looked out live , mind you I normally give everything out when it hits the pads.

Do they actually adjust the height on ball tracking each day in accordance with changing pitch conditions ?

Some serious bounce and turn for Ashwin though in the first session of a Test match.

It's because the ball tracking takes time to load up for want of a better term, my engineering mates have explained to to me in much more detail, but think it can vary between 20-60 seconds to produce. You'd have to think there would be way to speed up this process these days now that it's been around for a while.

My understanding (maybe @Goodie's Guns can clarify!) is that it’s a delivery-specific projection of the trajectory of the ball ... ie they don’t need to adjust for different conditions, because they can observe how the ball has been rising after it pitches, and project its trajectory based on that.

That’s interesting - sometimes they do seem to be waiting for it.

Equally if they started loading it after each delivery, they wouldn’t even be upstairs within 20 seconds most of the time, and if they had to wait an extra 40 second while looking at tram lines, snicko etc it’s not the end of the world.

It seems like once they start the sequence of reviews, they play it out unless and until they find eveidence it’s not out, which is good for clear decision-making, but bad for wasting time. They should be willing to jump ahead to the critical step when they need to, especially if it’s clearly not out.

In fairness the first LB was more clearly not out on height (in my view), Labuschagne’s less obvious on first pass but quite clearly so once they got ball tracking lined up.

Ok that makes sense if each ball is treated individual.

Never knew it it was based on actual/projected or they used predetermined parameters.

Given how much a pitch can change from Day 1 to Day 5 , based on each ball makes a lot more sense.

Credit where credits due , very impressive performance by India today.

Just a little bit of difference in persona between King Kohli & Rahane 😀
