It's because the ball tracking takes time to load up for want of a better term, my engineering mates have explained to to me in much more detail, but think it can vary between 20-60 seconds to produce. You'd have to think there would be way to speed up this process these days now that it's been around for a while.
That’s interesting - sometimes they do seem to be waiting for it.
Equally if they started loading it after each delivery, they wouldn’t even be upstairs within 20 seconds most of the time, and if they had to wait an extra 40 second while looking at tram lines, snicko etc it’s not the end of the world.
It seems like once they start the sequence of reviews, they play it out unless and until they find eveidence it’s not out, which is good for clear decision-making, but bad for wasting time. They should be willing to jump ahead to the critical step when they need to, especially if it’s clearly not out.
In fairness the first LB was more clearly not out on height (in my view), Labuschagne’s less obvious on first pass but quite clearly so once they got ball tracking lined up.
