I know we are a few months on, and conditions differ, but it’s surprising how different this team looks to what a preferred BBL best XI would have looked like.
If you were fielding Stoinis, Agar, Ellis, David or Zampa in BBL SC, it likely would have only been due to a low price or being on a double … and that’s almost half the team we are putting out in a World Cup match!

Can't help but wonder, no matter how much the players will say they're not interested in manipulating a result, whether subconsciously they don't really mind losing tonight. No consequence on their tournament and knocks England out, and as Haydos is going on about in commentary, they have just looked a couple of percent off the mark all night. Clearly second best so far in the game.
Hard to be up and about for a game that doesn’t matter.
Everyone forgets that as good as the top teams are, it’s not the skill level that is the difference it’s the ability to apply it consistently and be at that high intensity for longer periods than your opponents that separates the best from the rest.
T/20 is also a format that enables the gap to be closed quite considerably between nations. The pitches have been a great leveller in this competition as well, meaning the associate nations who probably experience this type of pitch often, will have a bit of an advantage.
Also, as much as Hazelwood’s remarks sparked the throwing discussions, the fact that the media (and England) have/will latch onto it should we lose this game, it effectively devalues Scotland’s efforts today. ICC have already reduced the amount of associates that could qualify in the 50 over format, would hate to see them continue to do so through fear of the big 3 teams not making it to the main part of tournaments.

This is my biggest worry too. The 2007 World Cup, or rather the administrators' reaction to it, set cricket as a global enterprise back a decade or more. It's really only recovered with this tournament (and probably the 2021 and 2022 tournaments to a lesser extent) and it would be a damned shame if the ICC used it to make the same mistakes again.
At least as it stands the ODI tournament is going back to 14 teams, that's an improvement. 16 in this format would be ideal though (so as not to elongate the super 8 as in 2007).
