I must say I didn't notice Laird much in the first half but his numbers are good given low tog.

I suspect Dawson next week might also rattle some structures and this is the point where teams can start to resemble mid-price madness.

I know I need to stay strong and true to a system.

For all the Milera love

Laird 40% game time
Sloane 35% game time
Brodie Smith 0% game time

Make of that as you choose
Milera taking kickouts is all we need. As long as Laird doesn't wrest control of that over him I reckon Milera can bump his average by 10ppg in line with others who've done the same.

Free points.

dawson has been in a lot longer than out for me

a backline player than can be picked in a horrible list of forwards is to good to pass up on

Docherty and Houston.
Was hoping you might have said the other 2.

Still not convinced by Houston.

Interesting comments during the week that he feels "lost" as a mid and struggles to find the ball.

If they run 11-12 through their as stated how much actual mid time will he get ?

@Goodie's Guns

Hi mate , did you start a all rookie defence last season (and if so how did it go ?)

any thought of doing the same this season ? (depending on rookies being named of course)

Ash * , Hill * , Mcasey , Young , Starcevich * , Day (?) , Williamson , Brander * , McLennan , Gould , Rivers * etc etc could be potentially viable.

Maybe start Houston as M6 & Dawson F2 as a bit of insurance.

Cheers

EDIT

or Docherty + 7
Hi @Herbie66, apologies for the delayed response, I had quite a bit on over the weekend so only catching up on everything now.

Last year I started a backline consisting of the following...

Screen Shot 2020-02-25 at 5.31.42 pm.png

I think overall it worked out quite well for me, as many of the top end premiums (as is usually the case in DEF) were able to be traded in for a bit less than their starting price. I then went 6 MID premiums plus Cousins and Walsh, Grundy and Gawn in the RUCs, and 4 premium FWDs.

I think the overall success of this ploy could've been even great if I potentially nailed my DEF premium trade ins a little better (e.g. Hurn injuries, Sicily role frustration, Lloyd drop off in backend of the year, etc.).

At this stage I don't think I'll be going this ploy again with the DEF due to my feeling at this stage that there won't be enough reasonable rookie DEF scorers, whereas last year I was relatively confident in my rookies back there being acceptable scorers (except probably Burgess, but I knew he would eventually be a key link with Moore).

Thanks mate , appreciate the time and effort to reply and the detail.

Glad to see my memory is not failing me completely ?

Houston & Docherty certainly look to be the "safe" options to start , I just wonder if they get to that 95+ we will probably need this season.

At their starting prices , they may not fluctuate too much in price either by their byes so maybe a option to sit and wait.

I gather if Docherty comes out firing in the Marsh Cup his ownership will grow even more.

Not sure on the point scoring ability and JS on the likes of Ash , Guthrie , McAsey , Zerk-Thatcher , Young (injury concerns) at a higher price and others like Starcevich , Williamson , Brander , Kennerley , McLennan , Williams , Gould etc hopefully show something.

Still a few weeks for it to all unravel itself.

Birchall , Doedee , Lukosious * , Roberton , Ash * , Hill * / Guthrie , Zerk-Thatcher

until things become clearer with McAsey , Young , Eagles , Day , Starcevich , Williamson , Brander , Butts , Greaves , Kennerley , McLennan , Gould , Rivers etc etc
