Still talk of a 23 race calendar so I wonder which circuit will take this spot. Our race was supposed to be 2 weeks after Brazil and 2 weeks before Saudi Arabia. Unless Argentina wants it's race back (or Malaysia), I'm guessing it's back to Europe.

Not a fan of the Sprint Race myself. Just going to see the same guys who line up at the front of the sprint race... line up at the front for the main race. Only accidents or mechanical failures during the sprint race will affect the main race grid.

Less chance of seeing a sensational Quali lap from a midfielder vault a driver into the top of the grid for the main race, as by the time they have run the Sprint race... that driver would likely have slid down the grid again.

Will be interesting to see how Sportsdeck handle it.
With the first sprint qualifying race to happen at the next round, we now have that answer. For those in EST, below is the schedule for this race weekend:
FP1: Friday 11:30pm
Qualy: Saturday 3am
FP2: Saturday 9pm
Sprint Qualy: Sunday 1:30am
Race: Monday midnight

Sportsdeck is showing lockout will be at 3am on Saturday. So it's before the first qualifying session (the standard Q1, Q2, Q3 one). And for those of us who don't want to be making trades at 1am, trades will have to be made before the race weekend starts.

In terms of the qualifying points, it's based on the starting grid so has to take into account the sprint qualifying race.

I emailed them for clarification and this is how they responded...

"Our scoring remains the same and the qualifying points will be based on the starting grid for the main race."

So you where spot on and the Sprint race results will have an impact on Quali/Starting Grid points.

Thanks for reaching out to them. I've found with most changes in the past that they always go with the solution closest to their existing rules.

Race weekend again and with FP1 on late and lockout in the middle of the night, I'm going to have to make my trades without seeing any practice times.
Out: Red Bull, Stroll, Tsunoda
In: Ferrari, Norris, Sainz

I would prefer not to have to sell the Red Bull car, but Stroll and Tsunoda aren't keepers and the upgrade money has to come from somewhere. Can't captain a car so selling Max isn't an option.

Having one of those weeks where I feel like I need four trades...

OUT: RB, Gasly, Tsunoda
IN: McLaren, Bottas, Norris

Max C, Hamilton, Bottas, Norris
RB, Merc, McLaren, AT

The other option would be to hold Gasly and go AT to Ferrari instead. Feel like Norris is in way better form than Leclerc or Sainz though...

Russell was great in qualifying again. Will be interesting to see how far up the grid the Williams can be at the end of 17 laps.

Looks like its a top 2 battle between Lewis and Max, with Bottas a comfortable 3rd providing Mercedes get the strategy right. From there, less than a tenth of a second covers Leclerc, Perez, Norris and Dan Ric.

Could be a long race for Perez, starting from the back. Many slower cars ahead of him, but the McLaren's and Ferrari's all have good pace, so Perez could be racing for 8th tonight. Even then, Alonso, Vettel and Gasly wouldn't make it easy for him to pass too.

I wonder if the passes in the sprint race will mean less passes in the actual race. For example, Kimi's been making up about 3-4 places in many of the races this season. I can't see him doing that when starting the race in 13th.
