I have noticed that Dayle Garlett, Mitchell Clark, Joshua Bootsma and Darren Glass are no longer listed in the official SC website, so you can't trade them, in fact it seems like they don't even exist. Which makes sense since two have retired and two have decided that their social lives was more important than footy and will not play again this year.

However it makes me wonder what has happened to those coaches who had any of these players in their sides? Would they still be there or?? Granted the majority would be ghost teams but Glass in particular played 8 games this year at an average of 59, so surely there would have been some Eagles coaches playing just for fun that would have had him in their side?
Until not long ago a mate of mine had Garlett still in his side but there was 3 little stars next to his name, (to depict no longer playing I assume) we traded him out and I haven't seen his name in the trade in list?

Someone in one of my leagues still has Garlett in his side... and he is still active

Jon Brown's retired.

Had a look through his sc scores and he has 2 x 200s..248 v haw in 2006 and 230 in 2005. Kicked 8 on both days. Crazy!
Champion player and champion SC player of the past. Pretty sure he averaged over 140 one season, incredible stuff. And he continues to be SC relevant even now by increasing Stefan Martin's job security
Champion, but I am glad he has given the game away - was going to do himself lasting damage otherwise.
This is true but i believe he may have already done some. The way he went down against GWS was terrible, but a younger Browny wouldnt of got ko'd in that incident. (personal opinion)
What an absolute legend of a player and bloke this guy is. The definition of a 'footballers footballer' and one of the last standing of an era. Will be sorely missed but very fondly remembered by all football fans I'm sure.
Lion King Brown retires! Champion!
Lets hope the AFL faithful in Brissie give the champion the send off he deserves:)

Bryce Gibbs has signed on for 5 years at around $600k per year. Not bad coin i would've thought. Could've potentially got 700k elsewhere they're saying

How's this for a stat !
3 footballers all who played for South Warrnambool. All go on to play VFL / AFL.
Kevin Cowboy Neale, Leon Cameron and Johno Brown, all finish on 256 games.
Wayne Schwass also played at South, 282 games.

Spooky, is it possible to check the records and see if Schwatta got an injury that may have ended his career in his 256th as well.

That would be REALLY spooky.

Some very late breaking news!

Nathan Fyfe has re-signed at Fremantle!

EDIT: Was wondering why such news came in so late and then remembered that midnight here means it's about lunch time in Perth :p

Yes it is.
Schwatta's 256th game was against Melbourne, in round 5 2001. He played the next week against St Kilda.
His last game was round 12, 2002. It is unlikely anything that happened in round 5 the previous season precipitated his retirement. :)

Hope so, he deserves it. My favourite Carlton player to watch in my time played with same warrior spirit as a champion for my club and 4 time premiership player. Had so many injuries due to the way he played, even had a back re-construction in his career but still played like a lunatic with no regard for his own safety. Browny thankfully made the call himself but at my club that did not happen so never got the chance to give Wayne Johnston the send off he deserves at our club. Hopefully Brown's circumstances of retirement afford that opportunity. The guys a champ and a real leader on field that inspired his team mates. Lions been amazingly lucky to have such amazing captains such as Vossy and Brown. It's no accident the Lions won 3 premierships in a row with guys like that on their team. He will be as hard to replace as Vossy was for Brisbane.
Well done Browny. Respected champion by everyone over the league whether a fan or opposition player in the game we love.

I am very glad I watched the entire Directions hearing. It will be interesting to see how the various media 'interpret' it. There was a lot of subtleties and nuances to the proceeding. One couldn't really say either side 'won' or 'lost' this was more about setting the agenda and rules of what needs to be and can't be done by the August Court Case.

As this site is focussed on SC the only opinion I will offer publically is that I would confidently trade in any Essendon player if you so wish. I personally do not believe anything will happen between now and the court case on Aug 11 that will affect the players from playing between now and then and would be shocked if such an act was to occur.

Blame your own club for needing this type of pre-game warm up...

If only they had crossed their T's and dotted their I's when Mark Thompson returned to the club and soon brought along the Wheapon and Dank not long after him, there would be no such mess that they are dealing with now.

Other clubs and fans quite sick of the circus that rolls on and distracts from the real footy action on field.

Hopefully, miracle of all miracles this is all dealt with by end of season and we can finish this sorry chapter.
The best case scenario is the courts say ASADA is a bunch of morons and could not investigate a chook raffle.
Please let that be the case. I fear not though... sigh...

I have already forgiven the Club for whatever misgivings they made.

The Club has already paid a massive cost for their lack if crossing T's and dotting I's. Firstly there are the measurable costs such as missing out on finals, the huge fines, massive costs from paying lawyers etc, loss of draft pics, etc. Individuals have also paid a massive cost. Sports Scientist gone, Fitness Manager gone, General Manager gone, CEO gone, Chairman gone, Coach suspendered, all due to this. Essendon has paid dearly for a lack of governance.

Then there is the stress felt by players, admin staff, coaches and fans. So far no players have been found guilty of anything. I personally believe the media has by and large acted in a manner in which they should perhaps have a look at their ethical standards. As a result most of the general public has already predetermined the guilt or innocence of the Essendon players. The Players and Essendon fans have had to cop the brunt of this. And we have copped a massive brunt.

I love the Essendon Football Club, whatever blame lands at their feet the rest of the world has far more than done enough to let them know.

Other clubs and fans quite sick of the circus that rolls on and distracts from the real footy action on field.
I don't really give a rats about other Clubs any more. Essendon fans want this over just as much if not more than the other Clubs. I would love to go back to just talking about the game.

Hopefully, miracle of all miracles this is all dealt with by end of season and we can finish this sorry chapter.

This won't end quickly anymore.

I've spend ridiculously far too much time following the issues than I should be or should have. I suppose being an Essendon supporter I have a vested interest, and decided to look deeper than the headlines and agenda's that certain media have. I have still yet to talk to anyone else (Journalists I have conversed with included) who last year actually looked up Asada's website as if they were a sportsman to find out the status of various items. It does feel good to end up being vindicated in the various arguments I have had with people about AOD, based on doing a little bit of my own research.

Anyway, back on point. This won't end soon. There is still a hell of a lot more to come out. The best case scenario is that all of the truth comes out. And I don't just mean from the Essendon focussed side of things but I also hope all of the others players in this saga are held accountable for their actions.

EDIT: Sorry Jay if this post has gone too far on this issue for a SC site. If it has feel free to delete. I am just a little but passionate!
