SUperCoach Draft.

Which is the fairest draft system; Bansai, Snake or Linear. We have used all 3 and some seem to think that Banzai is the fairest. Would love peoples thoughts.

Which is the fairest draft system; Bansai, Snake or Linear. We have used all 3 and some seem to think that Banzai is the fairest. Would love peoples thoughts.
For thos unfamiliar with the types and terms, here are the 3 options: Assume a 6 team draft for ease of demonstration.

Banzai: - it is a "snake" draft, with Rnd 3 flipped over.
Rnd 1 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 2 - 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Rnd 3 - 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Rnd 4 - 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Rnd 5 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 6 - 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Snake:
Rnd 1 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 2 - 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Rnd 3 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 4 - 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Rnd 5 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 6 - 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Linear:
Rnd 1 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 2 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 3 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 4 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 5 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 6 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Banzai seems the fairest, but sometimes people in a draft have trouble understanding snake. For simplicity in fairness, snake is the most often used, but for total fairness, I'd go banzai. I will add a rider on that: It actually depends of the the depth of the talent in the pool. If it is deep and carries up to around Rnd 3 or 4, then snake is fairest, if it is shallowish, I'd go Banzai.

I think Banzai goes like this:

Rnd 1 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 2 - 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Rnd 3 - 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Rnd 4 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Rnd 5 - 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Rnd 6 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

so, after 6 rounds each will have a comparative equal overall draft position. In this example, all add up to 21. Banzai is used often to equalise the effect of a draft where a captain's score is used.

NB. Apologies to Rowsus if I'm wrong.

It could be right, KLo30.
The system I saw compensates the last pickers in Round 1 with a slightly better over all rating, to compensate for missing the absolute elite.
Having all the ratings adding up to an equal number is good in theory, but it would/should still favour (slightly, if they pick well) the people with the early picks.

On closer inspection I think you are right. Each position has a differential of two after six rounds. The lower the number the better picks, which is ofset by captains, making for a fairer draft process. :)

No questions are off limits when potential draftees get interviewed by clubs.

Andrew McGrath told channel 7 that Essendon asked him to spell principal backwards.

They have been asking these backwards spelling questions for a few years now. The other they sometimes ask is something like "Count backwards by 7 starting from 734".

They don't care if they get the answer right or wrong the rational is that most of the draftee's these days all have prepared and well rehearsed answers to the common questions so this is about seeing their reaction and how they handle answering a question/challenge they were not expecting.

A friend of mine went to an interview at a bank, for a very high paying job.
There were 5 people firing quick questions at him, 4 of the people asked him questions relevant to the job, and himself, the fifth kept firing "off-topic" questions.
One has always stuck with me.
"The CEO invites you to morning tea, and tells you have to bring a plate, what do you bring?"
My friend answered straight away.
"Iced Vo-Vo's"
Must have been good enough, he got the job!

....... and what sort of CEO asks you to morning tea, and expects you to bring a plate?!
