Hawthorn won 5 flags after he left
Geelong won a flag the year after Ablett junior left, what does that mean? the side was better without a superstar? Or just that a well balanced team is still good when a great player leaves? Buddy...
Nice way of putting a spin on letting go one of the greatest full forwards ever to pull on a pair of boots, it is what it is, doesn't subtract from whatever Hawthorn did later.

I think it's something like the last Friday in Jan (from memory) as that is the week that schools go back. Possibly this year that might translate into Fri 3rd Feb ??

Just trying docs.com for the first time. I've put an excel workbook on there that I'm happy to share. Page 1 is the draw with a strength of schedule looking at a teams average supercoach score and whether they are travelling or not. Page 2 is all the players, prices, positions and a basic 5 year history. Page 3 is the draw converted into spreadsheet form so you can see the overlapping games. I use it to calculate how many loopholes I'll get from a combination of players. Page 4 is every players individual score from 2016 showing their average over the back part of the year.
If you're interested PM me and I'll send you the link. I'm not bothered if you pass the link on to friends but really wanted to offer it to the SCS community so it shouldn't come up on search engines.
I think you need a hotmail account to access it but it can be downloaded and edited as much as you like.
I'm not much chop on the old computer so any feedback appreciated.

I agree with those above. I'm going to spend tonight looking through this, but this is utterly incredible.

Thanks guys. I just cut and paste manually but someone smarter than me could probably set up some macros to make it easier to select players or look at the loopholes. I prefer it to the other selection tools around because I can put together a shortlist and compare the candidates recent history side by side.

I did mean to ask that Freo. Is the team that is pre-selected your team?

Wow this great! I see how you've set it up to allow a copy and paste so you can select a team. :D

First of many thousands!!!!
I left it there to show how I just cut and paste the players I'm interested in to the right and then filter them down to the salary cap. There are no macros or programs on the spreadsheets, just info. But anyone with expertise in that area is welcome to go nuts on it. So I might start by placing 8 premo defenders, 12 mids, 4 rucks and 7 forwards to the right of the data. I'll then look at history and bye round etc and filter them down to make a more balanced team. Most selectors will only let you pick the exact required number of players but I prefer to look at the options side by side in a group.
With the loopholes rather than going through the draw each time I just cut and paste and then do a data sort. So if I decide my 2 main captains picks are Danger and Fyfe I cut and paste the teams that come after 1 of those players in each round to the right. A data sort then shows which team will give me the best loophole player for those 2. So an Essendon donut might be better for Danger and Fyfe but a Freo donut might be better for Fyfe and Rockliff.

After reading that last sentence I feel like I'm in the Matrix. I don't know why I never considered that, but of course it makes sense to personalise your FD. This is something I'm going to have to remember very very closely going into the season, so I have the best FD possible.
