Certainly has done damage. They will have to pay some consequences as a result. August 26 will get us closer what is the consequence.
I'm not disputing what your saying here, but I want to know, in your opinion, what Essendon has done wrong.

Did they specifically bring the game into disrepute? Not really, the media did with all those articles.

Injecting players weekly off site without the oversight of the club doctor is not a good look (no matter what they were injected with). Not having records of what they were injected with is also bad management.

Given the lack of evidence I don't believe that Essendon should lose their points (and that is coming from a Carlton supporter whose team is sitting 9th). The club should probably be fined and Hird et al face being suspended. Draft picks shouldn't be taken away at this point either.

If further evidence comes to light then things can be looked at again when they do. ASADA needs to interview Dank.

Pretty sad day ... I wonder if the players will perform this week. They have been hard to watch as a supporter. And yes, Voss never fully recovered from the Fev storm - although I reckon he did a reasonable job at righting the ship.

Yeah, the Fev trade & Bradshaw fallout took him so many steps back he made the player resources at his disposal in coming years short of proving his long term worth.

Geez Vossy a bit stiff to be sacked 3 weeks out. The best player their club has ever seen, unceremoniously dumped. Give the Bloke the rest of the season at least.

As for the Bombers. Not much point talking about it really, bloody sick of hearing about it in all honesty. Mid August and were still force fed this muck, focus should be on finals.

Hmmm, I wonder if that makes some Brissy players worth considering for SC next year? Perhaps Redden will benefit and some fringe players could be given more of a chance (eg Karnezis).

Creating an unhealthy culture of experimentally altering the biochemistry of players in such a way which involves injections with supplements of questionable nature and uncertainty. There appears to be no real clarity and accountability for what took place exactly. It has lead to a unhealthy culture of pushing boundaries in such a way that young players have been asked to sign waiver forms. This is not the type of sporting atmosphere a football club should be encouraging. It takes the emphasis of what players are ingesting into your body system to grey areas to such a point the club themselves were not 100% sure themselves if they could mistakenly ingested players with substances that move in a direction as to be performance enhancing.
Not a good look at all for a professional Australian Rules football club which should be about promoting playing our great game. These guys involved in this football department that allowed this to go on need to be held accountable for letting a program of such questionable nature to take place whereby they felt the need to self report their own club. They are positions where they should see themselves as custodians of our game. It is not an image and environment our game and clubs should be creating where us onlookers question whether players could have gone down a path where performance enhancing substances could have been unwittingly been taken. The AFL need to make a stand and show this is not what we want our clubs and game to be engaging in programs of this nature where injections and off site ingesting of substances are encouraged to players to take part in.

I think they asked him whether he wanted to coach out the rest of the season. He decided in the circumstances not to.

The sooner this is over the better. Unfortunately I sense some people will want to involve lawyers into all this and it might get messy and into next year sadly. Hope not. Lets hope some appropriate level of accountability for what took place is accepted by those involved and we can get on with football clubs being more about playing football rather than worrying about the biochemistry of players.

Rocket to coach the dees (unconfirmed)
Cool. Felt he had unfinished business as a coach. Maybe the pieces fall into place now. Seems to me more chance of Roos coaching Lions than anyone if he decided to ever coach again. Will watch with interest how this develops. I would feel good for Mark Harvey if he managed to get the gig too.

With Judd and Carrazzo out for Carlton and possibly Garlett too I'll be interested to see if Nick Graham and Dylan Buckley get a decent run in seniors in coming weeks. Much rather have a look at those two rather than Kane Lucas or Aaron Joseph for my Blues. With Watson out for rest of season think it means Henderson will have to go back and Casboult probably gets looked at again up forward with Waite. If Kruezer is back this week puts the squeeze on Warnock and Rowe staying in the 22 for now.

What's interesting for me is what they've been charged of - "engaging in conduct unbecoming or likely to prejudice interests or reputation of AFL or to bring game into disrepute" or more so how it's been worded.

I'd be interested to see who else has been charged with this in the past and what they actually did.
Happened more than once or twice. Sheedy I think got that for cut throat gesture for one. Malthouse too I think for how he behaved one day v St.Kilda
Can't remember the exact charges Sheedy faced but I also remember Leigh Matthews was charged with something of this nature as a player. He knocked out Neville Bruns of Geelong in a game. I think the police charged him with assault or something which is first time I ever heard that happen from an incident on field. The AFL(was known as VFL back then) de-registered Leigh Matthews for a number of games and allowed him to register again when the period of being out of game was deemed to be appropriate. He was not nick named Lethal for nothing....lol

I think what the Collingwood player Bourke did in reserves game on tv was about the worst conduct I seen on field by a player. He was out of control that dude. Ray Jordan commentary on it at the time was so funny. I suspect can find it on youtube if you wanted to look.

Sad day for Vossy, but he was not sacked, he was told that his contract would not be extended. It is his decision not to see out the year.
Just watched the press conference and he may not have been the greatest coach but he was a champion player for the lions and has done himself proud with the way he has handled himself through this process.

Like Timmy Watson did , I suspect Vossy will end up covering the game in the media after his venture into coaching did not work out. I hope so. Love listening to Vossy talk about football and what players and teams are trying to do. Hated his effect on Supercoach though...lol
