Anyone else having difficulty working through the bye's ?
Seems all the popular defenders are round 9. Mitchell, Walker, Shaw, Hodge, Simpson, Birchall, Hurn,Suckling, Waters,
(*Henderson*).
Mids are round 8, Gaz, Pendles, Swanny, Jelwood, SJ, Cotchin, Deledio, Sidebottom, Beams, J Martin.
Forwards round 10. N Roo, Buddy, Chappy, Sylvia, Goodes, Zorko, Pav, Clarke, Hogan, Rohan.

Thinking DPP's could be very handy during the bye rounds.
*Henderson in brackets for Rowsus, my tip at his other hidden gem*

I havent even factored in the bye yet. Yes, the DDPs will be very handy again this year.

With all my focus on midfield structure I neglected to notice that my backline is not looking too good at all with Mitchell, Suckling, Waters, Docherty in there right now. I was finally happy with my team too haha hadn't played around with it too much over the last 2 days (which is a long time for me).

The byes issue wouldn't really matter because as long as there is a good balance between bye rounds and all your premiums, it wont matter if you have 3 defender premiums out because is it not top 18 scorers??

That's a really good point actually. Using Creeker's example, there'll actually be a balance with missing rd 8 mids, rd 9 backs and rd 10 fwds where ideally you'll be trading through the byes to improve your rd 9 and 10 teams with rd 8 and 9 premiums respectively.

Have another question. Last year I suffered when karnezis was a late sub announcement in round 2. From memory he then came on in the final few minutes to rack up a huge score (8)! What is the best way to get alerts about sub announcements? Does AFL tweet out the subs?

We normally have In-Game Threads such as: http://www.supercoachscores.com/thr...Game-Discussions?p=28690&viewfull=1#post28690

I might have some changes to the website in February, but if you follow AFL twitter account, it's quite good

We generally mention it on SCS Live Chat, however we also have a thread and last year, Goodies posted the following:

Breaking News!!

FINAL TEAMS:

LATE CHANGES:
Brisbane: NIL
Adelaide: NIL

SUBS:
Brisbane: Patrick Karnezis
Adelaide: Jason Porplyzia

Those with Karnezis will to consider changes, he has been named as the starting sub.

It depends on your byes for rookies on those particular lines. You can end up with a situation where you may have in round 8, 3 premiums mids out plus another 2-3 mid rookies and you realise that you have 2-3 donuts immediately in the midfield. Doesn't take much with injuries, rookies dropped that you have a few more donuts elsewhere (particularly rucks). This is where DPP helps if you have 7 players available in FWD line and you can switch one to mids or rucks. This does rely on a dpp in those lines as well who is not playing.

What further increases the risk of bye rounds this year is they are significantly earlier at round 8. I normally find at best I am looking to downgrade only 1-2 rookie at round 7-8 and some were being culled early at round 11-12 last year. This means we will not have the cash generation of prior years which may see more sideways trading this time and less flexibility in prior years.

Also, whilst only 18 players needed, we all remember having a few duds in the team and really 19-20 players are needed. Will be very frustrating if you have 18 players on field only but 1-2 subs in other lines playing due to lack of balance between lines.

Just urging some caution on this topic.

Many thanks Jay! Greatly appreciated. Just trying to make sure I don't repeat last year's mistakes. Should have known that you guys would have all the bases covered! Ha ha
