While a year of carnage and lack of downgrade rookies has left us strapped for cash, and looking for value, I think many have underestimated the importance of the top teir of players in the game (I know I have). With most of us with completed or almost completed teams, I thought it would be interesting to see how many top echelon players are in everyone's teams.

The top ranked players for position are:

Def:
Swallow
Simpson
Bartel.
McVeigh
Malceski
Burgoyne

Mid:
Ablett
Pendles
Rockcliff
JPK
Beams
Libba
Selwood
Watson
Boyd

Ruck:
Mumford
Sandilands
Jacobs

Fwd:
Danger
Gray
Harvey
Parker
Dahlhause
Martin

11 for me : S.

I think you should include players who've had injury affected games or missed games through injuries
Players like Zorko, Hurn, Jaensch, Goddard they average close to the top players if you remove their injury affected games

I've got 12, but I think if you disregard his injury game Fyfe would be there

12 for me but i've timed a couple of trades very well who'd be ahead of a couple of those listed. Buddy is one that comes to mind.

15 for me, I'm happy to have bolstered my forwards with the likes of Boomer, Gray and Parker. Wish I had gotten on the JPK train!

First up, this list is basically at the halfway point, so it won't be the 'final list'. Also, it is by current average rather than total points - which will also be an interesting difference come the end of the year. BUT, and this is where I need to disagree Bomber18, injuries are part of the game and as such need to be included. If you had Zorko in your team the whole season, you don't get a TheoryCoach score with injuries excluded, you get what he has scored so far, warts, gastro and all :)

Yeah it's not a definitive list of who will average the most from here on out. Just an unbiased perspective, because no-one can tell the future. Certainly agree players like Fyfe, Stevie J, Zorko, Buddy could all come home strong but who knows.

I agree IDIG.

I don't think having the most top ranked players is the only consideration. How much you paid for them is important and which part of the year they have their good scores is important. Starting with Nroo and trading to Buddy at the right time is of more value than having Dusty all year even though Dusty is top 6 and the other 2 might not be top 10.

14 of those with Pendles the only remaining must have on my list. Need to decide who of Cotchin / Swan makes way (or wait till i cop an LTI to another premo mid). Stevie J also looking a likely luxury trade with 12 trades left and still needing a solid F4 (favouring Zorko currently).

Got 12. I dare-say that sideways trades for both S.Mitchell and T. Mitchell and Leuenberger have cost me having 14.

Don't think Mumford should be there. Hasnt played enough games to be considered a top premium ruck.

Wow I have a whopping 15 of them!!!

Def: 5/6
Swallow
Simpson
Bartel.
Malceski
Burgoyne

Mid: 6/9
Ablett
Pendles
JPK
Beams
Selwood
Watson

Ruck: 1/3
Sandilands

Fwd: 3/6
Danger
Parker
Martin

I almost had 16 had I traded in McVeigh instead of Hibberd back when they were about $10k in price difference. A factor not picking McVeigh was I thought I had too many swans players, but the way they are going now... might have been good to pick them up. Wish I could go back in time when I had Gray over Wingard for about a day in the preseason, would have also saved me $100k too.. was turned off my his injury history... ah well. Love having 15 of those guys :D. Great thread McClungeMAgnet.

I have 15 from that list, but would consider Ward (1 injury-affected game, 120ave otherwise), Goddard (1 game, 118ave) and Zorko (2 games, 107ave) all unlucky to miss out [I was lucky enough to not count any of their injury games either], and with Franklin likely to appear on the list by season's end.

This leaves just 3 spots in my starting 22 which could possibly be upgraded (Langdon, Gunston, Pavlich)..

Super impressive team although I wouldn't give a second thought to upgrading Pav with Freo's upcoming draw. Was just looking through Freo's averages to try and find another forward option and its Pav then daylight on their list. Surely someone other than their mids has got to get a share of the points pie?
