Real shame for Docherty and Carlton. In terms of supercoach, Laird a lock now, and I'm thinking probably Hibberd as well.

Could next year be the year of hit and miss SC defenders?

2017 was the Fwd's..

On the positive side, not choosing Doch, gives us all 500-600k to pick another player with and use it for our structure.

He should be heavily discounted and a lock Rd1 2019!

Bugger.

From a player's perspective, it must be weird injuring yourself and then finding it plastered all over the news. Knowing that so many other human beings are interested in such a personal thing. I sliced open my finger on a door recently that took a month to heal properly and exactly 3 people (maybe) seemed interested.

:)

There's one definite selection I have crossed off the list.

Heeney to undergo knee surgery! :(

Sydney young gun Isaac Heeney has been forced to go under the knife to address a knee complaint.

The 21-year-old damaged his cartilage during training, which forced him to undergo surgery.

The midfielder had been taking part in full training sessions but underwent an arthroscope as a precaution after experiencing discomfort, according to Sydney's website.

Heeney has played 58 games for the Swans since making his debut in 2015, averaging 17 disposals a match and kicking 60 goals.

Just an arthroscope and we're only halfway through December, so all good.

If he plays round 1 then he is locked in.

Well we can forget about Wigg for our starting teams. Will be a good downgrade option at some stage though.

GOLD Coast recruit Harrison Wigg has suffered a major pre-season setback.

The former Adelaide midfielder suffered a fractured ankle at training on Monday and is set to miss a significant amount time.

It’s a blow to the 21-year-old who was traded to the Suns in October and loomed as a likely addition to the club’s midfield.

Drafted with pick No.35 in 2014, Wigg matured into an inside midfielder at SANFL level, averaging 25 disposals and five tackles in 2017, earning a place in the SANFL Team of the Year.

The Suns released a statement saying Wigg underwent scans and the club was yet to make a decision on the best course of action.

“The medical team will review the injury with specialists in the coming days where the most appropriate course of action to repair the injury will be determined,” it read.

COLLINGWOOD’S hopes that midfielder Levi Greenwood would avoid surgery for a knee injury sustained in August have been dashed.

The Pies revealed on Tuesday that the 28-year-old had undergone minor surgery to repair a medial ligament, hampering his preparation for the 2018 season.

The former Kangaroo sustained the injury on August 5, in the round 20 clash against his former club.

Collingwood says after seeking expert opinion, the club was advised rest would lead to a full recovery.

Greenwood is unlikely to rejoin teammates on the track until February, but Pies footy manager Geoff Walsh was hopeful the decision to go under the knife would pay off.

“The surgery, to the medial ligament, is relatively minor but it should allow Levi to fully recover and play and train pain free,” Walsh told his club’s website.

“We expect him to be back running inside six weeks.”

After the North Melbourne match coach Nathan Buckley predicted time on the sidelines — Greenwood missed the remainder of the season — but hadn’t thought the injury was too significant.

“It’s a hyperextension of his knee,” Buckley said.

“The doc is really confident there’s no significant structural damage outside of that.

“We’re thinking there’s maybe damage to a medial ligament. We’ll scan and see but we don’t expect him to get up for a couple of weeks.”

Really sad for the young man from the Riverina...

Without the two W's from the Giant's backline does that make Health Shaw even more SC relevant again. I'm going the double (not having him last year and then taking him this year) at this stage.

It probably gives a couple of Giants youngsters a bit more of a shot too.

Probably not SC relevant but maybe Dylan Buckley gets a shot.

Kelly destined to play Motlop's role I reckon. We all lost out when he was taken by Geelong as at nearly any other club (And particularly West Coast) he would have a much better shot at midfield time and averaged more than I think he will at Geelong.
